Since Karin’s introduction in March 2007, between going after Itachi, fighting the Hachibi, joining/leaving Akatsuki, and closing in on Danzou—these two haven’t got much time for resting. But they’ve had time for bonding.

And it’s no wonder why, when these two are alike in so many ways, and polar opposites on a few but right aspects. While the two are composed in most circumstances (except when the other is in danger, that is) and exhibit a higher-than-thou, self-sufficient attitude—Karin is explosive where Sasuke is reserved, and Sasuke is naturally kind while Karin is rougher. But that’s not all, their similarities extend past what the eye can see, and go as back as their pasts, the experiences that have made them who they are—In Sasuke’s case, it was the slaughter of his clan, in Karin’s, the slaughter of her village—and these give them common ground to connect over.

And connect they have. Whether it’s shown on Karin’s feelings for Sasuke, or in the special regard Sasuke gives to her—whether it’s shown while they fight to save each other’s lives, while they stick together through thick and thin; despite the fact that it’s barely been 100 chapters since they were first seen together, they’ve gotten a wide quantity of moments, and have experienced many things together.

And together they stand, even today.

And as always, Sasuke’s ice when mixed with the flavor of the spices of Karin’s personality, makes a combination that’s hard to ignore; a force to reckon with.

Similarities&Differences

Similarities
● They’re both orphans and the sole survivors of a tragedy; in Sasuke’s case, his brother and his ancestor murdered his whole clan. In Karin’s case, her village was slaughtered during war and she managed to survive only thanks to her perception ability.
● At one point in life, they both willingly went to Orochimaru. In Sasuke’s case, it was in order to attain the power necessary to avenge his clan. In Karin’s, the exact reasons are still unknown as of now—but her main one? Sasuke.
● Their outlooks in life are fairly similar; both of them stare down at everything around them, they’re hardly shaken or faced by anything but anger. Except, of course, when the other is in danger.
● Despite what their attitude might show, they both have a softer side that they keep hidden. Karin shows it only to Sasuke, while Sasuke, he has shown it only to 6 people so far: Itachi, Naruto, and Taka—Karin included.
● When faced with a strong adversary, neither of them shows the slightest hint of fear or restrain. The most recent case of this is Madara, the powerful Uchiha ancestor; but despite all his power and his status as leader of the Akatsuki, neither Sasuke nor Karin hesitate to talk back to him or demand answers as if he were a no one—they’re truly souls that yield to no one.
● Their body language is also similar, too—though Karin is, of course, way more expressive than Sasuke is. But these details just accentuate the many similarities and few differences between their personalities.

Differences
● While they both share that higher-than-thou attitude, Karin is certainly tougher than Sasuke, and more explosive. This contrasts and complements well with Sasuke’s persona, who—deep down—has always been lured in by the mayhem people like Karin cause wherever they go.
● They’re both smart, but Sasuke is more prone to forget his logic, underestimate his opponents, and have his senses being overwhelmed by emotion (need for vengeance, usually) than Karin is. In contrast, Karin always keeps her cool and her level-head, thinking of the most logical plans of action and quick-thinking. This, among other things, makes them a flawless team.
● Karin has a kinkier side to her that Sasuke hasn’t quite seen the extent of, yet; while Sasuke is so clueless and disinterested on the sexual side of things, is interesting to note how Karin is the complete opposite ~~which will save Sasuke a lot of work~~

Funny Facts

● When writing Taka, Kishimoto has the habit of highlighting Sasuke and Karin—either by having them do most of the talk, focusing on their reactions, or showing their thought-process.
● They address each other without suffixes. For Sasuke, this is nothing new. But for a female who is addressing him, and has feelings for him—this is quite the feat.
● We have yet to see their first meeting, considering that Sasuke planned who he’d recruit since he arrived to the sound, and the familiarity with which they treated each other when Karin was introduced—it’s safe to assume that they’ve known each other for at least 2 years.
● Sasuke seems to have an obsession with Karin’s name. Even if he’s looking at her while he’s talking, he’ll say her name nonetheless—this doesn’t happen with neither of their other two teammates. Right now, Sasuke has said it 18 times—and counting.
● Sasuke always takes Karin’s side over Suigetsu’s; the biggest example of this is chapter 352, where after Suigetsu teases her—and Karin violently punches him—Sasuke glares, tells Suigetsu to stop messing with her, and reminds him that he told him to cooperate with Karin. Afterwards, Karin is the one to mock Suigetsu’s goal, Suigetsu scowls in response—and gets a warning from Sasuke, Karin not getting a single call of attention despite the fact that she initiated that one. Then we have chapter 364, where Suigetsu teases Karin and she reacts violently, literally starting to beat the crap out of him—What is Sasuke’s response? He simply watches it unfold and allows Karin to do as she pleases, not saying a word.
● Despite what many think, Karin has only made a move on Sasuke twice, and inwardly marveled about him only 3 times.
● For the first time, Sasuke’s attention isn’t usually focused on his male teammate, but on his female one.
● They have the habit of saving each other. Sasuke has protected Karin once from Juugo, and has risked everything to save her life when she was being consumed by the flames of Amateratsu. Karin has saved his life two times, both during the fight against the Hachibi.

This short FST mainly focus on what I feel, are key points in the process of development of the SasuKarin we see today. There are many moments left untouched, but I really wanted to have something short and straight to the point; had I taken into account everything, this would end up with like a hundred songs and that's not the idea. Regardless, do look forward to a more carefully planned, and more complete FST in the near future.

But for now, I hope you enjoy the song choices I made. If you wish to listen to them, just click on the lyrics.

This song, I believe, fits the way I picture Sasuke's and Karin's first meeting went. Her village was slaughtered and she was the sole survivor, but solely thanks to her ability, which allowed her to make her escape, knowing that lots of people were coming. From what we know from the manga and the databook, chances are that Sasuke was with Orochimaru when the man found her.

So he met her there. A little girl whose dreams had been crushed and who had just lost everything she held dear; a little girl whose future was uncertain and her soul tainted. The image was awfully familiar. It reminded him of himself.

And it was there when his acknowledgement of her started; his acknowledgement of someone who had lost everything, too. Who knew the same pain as him. Someone strong, and in whom he'd come to depend on as time passed. Someone who would stay with him.

While Karin, Karin found someone she'd come to love.

This one is perfect for Karin, from every possible perspective. Everything was taken away from her, her world was turned upside down; but then he was there. And slowly, ever so slowly, he took over her heart. But despite that, she's not like the other girls that he used to know; she won't take it, won't fake it, won't try to please him in every way possible. If he wants her, he'll have to want her for what she is.

And she's never quite felt this way. She's never felt so--

Another song that is just perfect for Karin's feelings. But unlike You look so fine, this one isn't focused on the process of her falling for him but rather, the time she spent without him as a jailer of the Southern Base. This is the period of interlude, the period where we don't know what happened and how many times they met each other.

But if there's one thing that we do know, that is that Karin doesn't care what anyone thinks; doesn't care about the consequences. She does her job as Orochimaru's underlining solely out of affection for Sasuke. And when he's not around her, she feels so untouched, because she's been going crazy for him since the moment she met him. So she doesn't mind waiting for him, for him to live the way he decided to live his life; she respects that, knows what she won't let him down.

And like that, time passes by. Until one day he comes to her, offers her something that would become--

And like that, Team Hebi is formed. With the purpose of defeating Uchiha Itachi, Sasuke and Karin are together in a team with Suigetsu and Juugo, sharing a wicked partnership that would be unthinkable for many, but that for them, works very well. They all gain something out of it, and that was supposed to be enough; but slowly they realize that there's more to their Team than what meets the eye.

As they stick with each other through thick and thin, aiding Sasuke on his mission, they realize that--

Sasuke defeats Itachi, but only to have his life turned upside-down; again, as Madara reveals to him the truth behind Itachi's actions. And once again, the four of them, now moving under the name of Team Taka, are caught up in a bigger scheme; caught up in the webs that Sasuke weaves as he decides to use Akatsuki.

And they fight the Hachibi. And while they're at it, Karin saves Sasuke's life by allowing him to bite her, and he later saves her life as well. I believe this song fits them, not only because Karin has a sexual reaction when Sasuke bites her, but also because both of them showed layers of their personality that they don't usual show; and they did it for the each other.

Sasuke's desperation as Karin was being burned by Amateratsu, Karin's worry whenever Sasuke got hurt; they were all emotions that were so strong, that they couldn't keep them hidden behind their usual aloof fa çades.

This fight showcased how important they are for one another. And that takes us to the current chapters of the manga, where--

In his quest to fight Danzou and avenge his family and brother, Sasuke and Taka are trapped, as Zetsu betrays them. And Karin can only watch, horrified, as Sasuke's chakra changes into something she cannot recognize; as it loses all the traits that she has known for so long, and changes into something unknown. Something cold. Something unlike him.

I see the senario. They were pretty much only working together while logically finding each other super sexy. Then Sasuke needs to go on a trip for work and decide to bring his secretary with him, so working away will be easier, plus Karin is a good secretary.

Behind him, there was a sudden flash of red. Tensing, he immediately turned to look, coming eye to eye with the level gaze of Karin, the tracker they’d recently recruited.

She stared at him, searching his face as she took a step forward, and then gently traced the outline of the star on his nose. She adjusted her glasses, nodding, and, seemingly satisfied, stepped back a little.

Sasuke blinked, his clawed hand drifting to his face.

“I heard a noise,” she explained, reaching up to grab his hand and turned it over in hers. “Your knuckles are bleeding.”

He didn’t respond, only flinching a little when she pulled a small bit of glass from between his knuckles.

“Here,” she said, holding out her arm. “Bite down. I can heal you a little if I focus my chakra.”

Sasuke stared at her in confusion. “Aren’t you afraid of me like this?”

“No,” she replied, staring right back into his eyes. “You’re still you inside.”

In Karin’s case, her village was slaughtered during war and she managed to survive only thanks to her perception ability. ● At one point in life, they both willingly went to Orochimaru. In Sasuke’s case, it was in order to attain the power necessary to avenge his clan. In Karin’s, the exact reasons are still unknown as of now—but her main one? Sasuke. ● Their outlooks in life are fairly similar; both of them stare down at everything around them, they’re hardly shaken or faced by anything but anger. Except, of course, when the other is in danger. ● Despite what their attitude might show, they both have a softer side that they keep hidden. Karin shows it only to Sasuke, while Sasuke, he has shown it only to 6 people so far: Itachi, Naruto, and Taka—Karin included. ● When faced with a strong adversary, neither of them shows the slightest hint of fear or restrain. The most recent case of this is Madara, the powerful Uchiha ancestor; but despite all his power and his status as leader of the Akatsuki, neither Sasuke nor Karin hesitate to talk back to him or demand answers as if he were a no one—they’re truly souls that yield to no one. ● Their body language is also similar, too—though Karin is, of course, way more expressive than Sasuke is. But these details just accentuate the many similarities and few differences between their personalities. Differences ● While they both share that higher-than-thou attitude, Karin is certainly tougher than Sasuke, and more explosive. This contrasts and complements well with Sasuke’s persona, who—deep down—has always been lured in by the mayhem people like Karin cause wherever they go. ● They’re both smart, but Sasuke is more prone to forget his logic, underestimate his opponents, and have his senses being overwhelmed by emotion (need for vengeance, usually) than Karin is. In contrast, Karin always keeps her cool and her level-head, thinking of the most logical plans of action and quick-thinking. This, among other things, makes them a flawless team. ● Karin has a kinkier side to her that Sasuke hasn’t quite seen the extent of, yet; while Sasuke is so clueless and disinterested on the sexual side of things, is interesting to note how Karin is the complete opposite ~~which will save Sasuke a lot of work~~ Funny Facts ● When writing Taka, Kishimoto has the habit of highlighting Sasuke and Karin—either by having them do most of the talk, focusing on their reactions, or showing their thought-process. ● They address each other without suffixes. For Sasuke, this is nothing new. But for a female who is addressing him, and has feelings for him—this is quite the feat. ● We have yet to see their first meeting, considering that Sasuke planned who he’d recruit since he arrived to the sound, and the familiarity with which they treated each other when Karin was introduced—it’s safe to assume that they’ve known each other for at least 2 years. ● Sasuke seems to have an obsession with Karin’s name. Even if he’s looking at her while he’s talking, he’ll say her name nonetheless—this doesn’t happen with neither of their other two teammates. Right now, Sasuke has said it 18 times—and counting. ● Sasuke always takes Karin’s side over Suigetsu’s; the biggest example of this is chapter 352, where after Suigetsu teases her—and Karin violently punches him—Sasuke glares, tells Suigetsu to stop messing with her, and reminds him that he told him to cooperate with Karin. Afterwards, Karin is the one to mock Suigetsu’s goal, Suigetsu scowls in response—and gets a warning from Sasuke, Karin not getting a single call of attention despite the fact that she initiated that one. Then we have chapter 364, where Suigetsu teases Karin and she reacts violently, literally starting to beat the crap out of him—What is Sasuke’s response? He simply watches it unfold and allows Karin to do as she pleases, not saying a word. ● Despite what many think, Karin has only made a move on Sasuke twice, and inwardly marveled about him only 3 times. ● For the first time, Sasuke’s attention isn’t usually focused on his male teammate, but on his female one. ● They have the habit of saving each other. Sasuke has protected Karin once from Juugo, and has risked everything to save her life when she was being consumed by the flames of Amateratsu. Karin has saved his life two times, both during the fight against the Hachibi. There are many moments left untouched, but I really wanted to have something short and straight to the point; had I taken into account everything, this would end up with like a hundred songs and that's not the idea. Regardless, do look forward to a more carefully planned, and more complete FST in the near future. But for now, I hope you enjoy the song choices I made. If you wish to listen to them, just click on the lyrics. -Kanae This song, I believe, fits the way I picture Sasuke's and Karin's first meeting went. Her village was slaughtered and she was the sole survivor, but solely thanks to her ability, which allowed her to make her escape, knowing that lots of people were coming. From what we know from the manga and the databook, chances are that Sasuke was with Orochimaru when the man found her. So he met her there. A little girl whose dreams had been crushed and who had just lost everything she held dear; a little girl whose future was uncertain and her soul tainted. The image was awfully familiar. It reminded him of himself. And it was there when his acknowledgement of her started; his acknowledgement of someone who had lost everything, too. Who knew the same pain as him. Someone strong, and in whom he'd come to depend on as time passed. Someone who would stay with him. While Karin, Karin found someone she'd come to love. This one is perfect for Karin, from every possible perspective. Everything was taken away from her, her world was turned upside down; but then he was there. And slowly, ever so slowly, he took over her heart. But despite that, she's not like the other girls that he used to know; she won't take it, won't fake it, won't try to please him in every way possible. If he wants her, he'll have to want her for what she is. And she's never quite felt this way. She's never felt so-- Another song that is just perfect for Karin's feelings. But unlike You look so fine, this one isn't focused on the process of her falling for him but rather, the time she spent without him as a jailer of the Southern Base. This is the period of interlude, the period where we don't know what happened and how many times they met each other. But if there's one thing that we do know, that is that Karin doesn't care what anyone thinks; doesn't care about the consequences. She does her job as Orochimaru's underlining solely out of affection for Sasuke. And when he's not around her, she feels so untouched, because she's been going crazy for him since the moment she met him. So she doesn't mind waiting for him, for him to live the way he decided to live his life; she respects that, knows what she won't let him down. And like that, time passes by. Until one day he comes to her, offers her something that would become-- And like that, Team Hebi is formed. With the purpose of defeating Uchiha Itachi, Sasuke and Karin are together in a team with Suigetsu and Juugo, sharing a wicked partnership that would be unthinkable for many, but that for them, works very well. They all gain something out of it, and that was supposed to be enough; but slowly they realize that there's more to their Team than what meets the eye. As they stick with each other through thick and thin, aiding Sasuke on his mission, they realize that-- Sasuke defeats Itachi, but only to have his life turned upside-down; again, as Madara reveals to him the truth behind Itachi's actions. And once again, the four of them, now moving under the name of Team Taka, are caught up in a bigger scheme; caught up in the webs that Sasuke weaves as he decides to use Akatsuki. And they fight the Hachibi. And while they're at it, Karin saves Sasuke's life by allowing him to bite her, and he later saves her life as well. I believe this song fits them, not only because Karin has a sexual reaction when Sasuke bites her, but also because both of them showed layers of their personality that they don't usual show; and they did it for the each other. Sasuke's desperation as Karin was being burned by Amateratsu, Karin's worry whenever Sasuke got hurt; they were all emotions that were so strong, that they couldn't keep them hidden behind their usual aloof fa çades. This fight showcased how important they are for one another. And that takes us to the current chapters of the manga, where-- In his quest to fight Danzou and avenge his family and brother, Sasuke and Taka are trapped, as Zetsu betrays them. And Karin can only watch, horrified, as Sasuke's chakra changes into something she cannot recognize; as it loses all the traits that she has known for so long, and changes into something unknown. Something cold.
