It kinda makes me think about the fact they dident even want him to know the fox was in him, maybee they just wanted him to think he was normal or somthing. idk, it does seam kinda wired that the 3rd dident tell him this, or even jiraya for that matter.

to build suspense but you'd have to be as blind as a bat to ignore the uncanny resemblance and pretty...well... something to think it didn't mean anything (which it could have but come on)

why it was kept a secret from naruto (and in general) was for his protection i suppose.
