It's sad to see so many people watch Gurren Lagann but ignore Higurashi. Not just here, but in every forum I lurk. (which is quite a bit) I watch and enjoy both but the story and characters in GL just don't compare.

I guess a mystery/horror can't stand up to hotblooded/action in popularity.

Majority of favored anime are of the shounen genre so I'm not surprised.

Most people do get sick of watching the same thing people watch just because there are millions upon trillions of watchers. Higurashi on the other hand, is what I consider under the radar, and somewhat underrated compared to the other types of shows out there. But hey, it's not really our place to judge. We just laugh it off that everyone is missing out on a smart series. (I'm not offending anyone, honestly. I do watch TTGL...)

Remember, it's the story that makes it good.

I don't know why, but I'm loving Hauu~ subs and don't feel the need to switch to WinD or Shinsen, but when it comes down to archiving I may end up changing my tune.

Hauu~ uses h264 instead of XviD. h264 is a better encoder that allows for better quality with lower file size but the disadvantage is that it requires more processing power to render. Meaning old computers can't handle it. But you also have to remember that Hauu~ is the fastest subber. Their mkv release most likely uses the earliest raw which may not be the best quality.

In terms of video quality, use Ayu. I've compared Hau, Ayu, and WinD, and Ayu is has the clearest and cleanest qualty. I have the first 5 episodes by them. However, some of their translations annoy me... like Shrine God in place of Oyashiro-sama. But I'm just nickpicking like that.'

I trust WinD the most because they actually consists of members who've played the game. That's why from 6+, I'll be going back to WinD. Besides, that's what I did last season. ^^

Same here. I've had enough of hot-blooded action unless the characters actually have depth instead of being simple minded fools and the story is more complex. Currently the only shounen Im watching is claymore but im even considerign dropping that.

The manga is close enough to the original material, but it's taking quite a long time for chapters to be scanlated.

Actually though I'm quite interested in Umineko. I'm wondering how the story will turn out since it's vastly different to what happened in Higurashi. It looks like they're trying to replicate a genuine murder mystery like agatha christie and such along with all the supernatural stuff. I'd like to see how they pull it off.

The episode may have the same feel as Saikai, but the events are quite significant to Satoko's struggle.

And yes, Keiichi sure is the man. He has once again, owned Kameda with his words. :lmao

IMO, it's like the "calm before the storm" episode.

But knowing this series, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a sudden change of pace in the next episode.

The most important thing in episode 9 was Rika explaining about Satoko's disease. Other than that, a slow paced episode that demonstrates the difficulty in overcoming the situation.

I seriously can't wait what happens next. I also would like to know if this arc would answer a question that has been bugging me for quite a long time now - where is Satoshi?

As a side note, I noticed that the fat guy in glasses in Angel Mort who joins Keiichi's cause is the same guy who actually did something perverted to Shion in the Watanagashi-hen manga (only to get owned by Keiichi and the others). :P

She's extremely fishy. In Tatarigoroshi-hen when Takano gives Keiichi a ride after killing Teppei, she says her trunk is full. When Keiichi gets into the car he sees a bicycle in the back. Takano claims it's hers but if you go back to episode 10, you'll see Tomitake riding a blue bike. Later when he meets Tomitake and Takano at the shrine, there's a blue and yellow bike. If Tomitake's bike is blue then the yellow must have been Takano's. The bike in the back of her car was clearly blue. Lastly, when she drops Keiichi off she repeatedly says "We did not meet tonight." then gets angry when Keiichi asks why.

Let's not forget that in Reunion, Akasaka says Takano predicted the gas disaster before it occurred. It was written in document 34 that she gave to Rena.

Also I just thought of this. Remember in Tatarigoroshi-hen how Irie was saying that Keiichi needed help when Keiichi told Irie he could still see Teppei even after killing him? That ties right back into it. Obviously whatever is going on in Hinamazawa it seems Irie, Tomitake, and Takano know what it is, and considering Takano's death is the most suspcious since there's just so many factors I'm starting to think she's the one behind it all.

However, we haven't really seen any ulterior motive except for her obsession with controlling humans through fear.

Do not watch Kai without seeing the first season. The first season is called "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" the second is called "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai" Kai is a direct continuation of the first season. Starting with it is like starting with the last few chapters of a book.

I liked S1's previews more too. Hearing Rika and Hanyuu joke around is nice but it's too lighthearted. It doesn't fit the serious mood of the series. Maybe that's why they aren't broad casted.

After you guys mentioned the preview is a spoiler that reveals all, my interpretation of that became whatever was in the preview means I was basically told the whole revelation.
I just can't believe that the supposed "act of kindness" did more bad than good - to just ONE person. You are the only person I've seen in any forum that I visit who reacted that way.

Point being is, you still watched it, despite the fact that your so-called "preview is a spoiler that reveals all" interpretation came before or after. Of course, I don't blame you for doing so considering that most, if not, everyone watches previews of the next episode in any anime. But for crying out loud, NOT ALL was told in the preview (I watched it finally). Yes, the contents may be major, but as MarthX7 said, there's more than just that. You can complain about it over and over, but there's nothing you can do. You now believe that you are majorly spoiled by that short preview.

Now, I'd rather say this so that something like this won't happen again (and end this thing properly). From this point on, WE should become more responsible for anything that will be posted in this thread. No more "warnings" or "friendly advices" or even mentioning the word "spoiler" in this thread. As Aethos said, let's just enjoy the show while it lasts. :)
