Rika's weapon in Daybreak is a hoe.
:jk
EDIT: It's finally here! The avy-sig combo that I was thinking of this morning! Thanks for the inspiration, guys!
Awesome XD
That reminds me, I never said why, but I only omitted the "a" that would normally be in Rachael, because if I recall...
The below may be a spoiler, I don't remember if its TIPS from an arc that's coming or long past. I'll look on to it...
Tsumihoroboshi-hen TIPS
Rena's real name is Reina, but she removed the "i" because it gave her bad memories... but there were still good memories that came with it... everyone calls her Rena though.
It's funny, the girl that tried to marry her dad is like Reina without the "e" and only the "i"... Rina.
That's why I wanted the name Rina Rachal. :P
StrawberryShorty
08-16-2007, 04:26 PM
It's not really a spoiler, but that Reina thing is from the last arc of the first season, though it's not actually explained much in the anime.
The manga is always better. Tomitake's festival scene in the first arc was so moving.;-; As was his Angel Mort uniform*.*

Oh, last arc? Then good, its not a spoiler. :amuse
Never read the manga. I've seen some comparisons between manga arcs, PS2, PC, and anime... does the artist change his/her style, or do they just change for arc?
The last Takano that I saw... her smile was creepy. It reminded me of someone from one of those Batman cartoons. Might be one of the females... maybe the Joker though.

Thanks a bunch, Aethos. I've been dying to read Yoigoshi-hen. Now I wish that GGAL would finish Onisarashi-hen already.
And it's interesting that she never used it even once, not to mention if it's the real thing and NO ONE in Hinamizawa has a problem with her toting it around town. :huh
Does Rika use a syringe as a weapon in Daybreak? Or was it Takano? :P
No, seriously, with her small frame of hers, I think Rika won't be able to defend herself even with a weapon equipped.

Bah I still say my version of the Casey and Friends names are better but ah well. XD
and yeah Rika uses the ceremonial hoe in Daybreak but she also uses a scythe as well I think that's a reference to evil rika.

Other than the psycological girls in the anime, is the story and overall really good?I'll tell you this, if you're not into the story you're better off not watching it. The creepy factor is a part of the anime since this is basically a mystery behind a village and such. All newcomers will be immediately confused after one arc ends and another begins. (We've all been there some time.)

But of course! Thanks again for sharing wonderful Higurashi music.
Speaking of which, "Nageki no Mori" and "escape" are great singles, too. "Thanks/you" is a nice collection of instrumentals.

I haven't seen episode 7 yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing this scene you speak of. My sister loves Takano, so I'm guessing she'll like it even more!
By the way, on a less pleasant note, AnimeSuki finally responded to my email. Man, that xris guy is a serious jerk! He was really nasty to me-said I was "Shion's Sanity" and made a bunch of threats. What the heck?!

But I do know what you mean about xris. After another admin got my ban lifted, he was giving me infractions for anything he could get away with-ignoring anyone else who was posing in the threads-and is no doubt responsible for my ban being made permanent. Finally seen Minagoroshi 2.
It's amusing how the episode is fueling Rika's hope, despite that we, the viewers, know that there's still another chapter after this, hence, as I said before, something's bound to get really bad soon.
And holy crap, with Teppei returning in the next episode, this will somewhat mess up the picture. I mean, if someone "snaps", he/she is going to do something to break one of the rules, that is to kill the bastard.
But let's see where this is going to. It's getting interesting with everyone in play, including Akasaka, which was totally unexpected. The fact that he came back to Hinamizawa to "save" Rika is something big he said.
And the scene in my avatar is definitely the most shocking event that happened in this episode. Well, not really, as I've been told ahead by this. :P
Random stuff: It's been raining in our place for days now, and I really like playing the Dear You songs while watching the rain fall outside the window. :amuse

I don't know. I really can't see anyone starting to go crazy over Teppei's death like they do with Tomitake's. People actually like Tomitake, while everyone pretty much wishes Teppei would be killed. I finally got to watch episode 7 with subtitles. It's wierd how Rika does not seem to recognize the "janitors" as the men who killed her. Even wierder is the fact that Tomitake, Takano, and Irie all seem to be working with them. And downright creepy is the fact that Takano seems to be in charge of this janitor group. I feel safe in believing Tomitake had nothing to do with any of the murders. He generally seems to think of them as sad incidents and, as I think he states in the manga, only someone with no respect for life would commit such crimes.

OMG!!!!!! Can someone please explain to me what the hell has happened.. I've watched all 26 episodes of the first season and now I'm kinda confused.
Heres what I know:
This is what I thought this whole anime was about...
Theres this village called watagishiriwhatever, and everyone is happily living there. However, these outsiders want to build a dam on the village which will force everyone to move. Of course, the villagers don't approve of this and begins to kill anyone who supports building the dam. To cover up the killings, the villagers blame it on the orishuma curse (whatever it is called).
However, I guess I was wrong. Or is it this?
A horror story revolving around a group of friends in this village called watagashirwahtever. These group of friends play together everyday until something terribly goes wrong. Shion, one of the twin sisters, goes nuts.... She begins to obsess over the events of Satoshi, her lost lover, and starts to kill her friends from the group one by one. In the end, everyone dies except Rena and Keichi.......
OR, is the story about THIS???
Rena, an always cheerful girl, unfortunately learns a horrible secret about the village of watagashiwhatever. Rena begins to speculate that aliens/viruses/parasites are infecting the villagers, causing them to go berserk and kill people. She believes she knows something very important that will get her killed. So she goes nuts, and tries to kill the whole class in her school??? In the end, she fails, and somehow she and her friends live happily ever after.....
NO WAIT, or is the storyline about this??
These group of friends live in multiple worlds. They kill each other, die, and are reborn again. They all kill their friends, relatives, and what not. However, the next day, they seem to be reborn again and play together happily, as if nothing ever happened. WTF?
ORRRRR, IS IT THIS??
Rika, a girl who is a prophet or something, likes to play games with oyisha (the detective). They play games in the endless june, such as killing people and their friends. After killing everyone, they play the game again, and again, again, and again.... Huh?
WTF!!!! I don't get this anime. So tell me, what is this anime about?? All the storylines I mentioned, ACTUALLY occurred in this anime. I'm really confused, I thought everything was suppose to come together, but nooooo, nothing makes sense..... Someone please guide me. Thanks..:cry

Rika is definately the center of everything. Basically Higurashi moves through a series of time loops. Caused by Rika as she tries to prevent the tragedy of June 1983 from happening. It's just that it hasn't gone according to plan yet.

Watch the second season. (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai.) Also, the village is called Hinamizawa. The festival is called Watanagashi.

lol.. Yeah, I'm really bad with all these names, especially figuring out who is Shion and who was Mion. I have so many questions but I guess I should just watch the 2nd season. :notrust

Umm...
Mion's the one that usually has she hair in a ponytail, Shion's the one that usually lets her hair down.
Usually. And Meakashi-hen is told from Shion's perspective.

Yeah, but throughout the anime Shion and Mion switch places from time to time. On top of that, Shion and Mion seem to have these crazy mood swings which confuses me as to who is who. And apparently, Shion abducted Mion without the viewers knowing this, so Shion pretended to be Mion for a couple of days.
Not only that, this anime confuses you with different worlds/dimensions, viruses/parasites, aliens from outerspace, rika is a prophet, or rika has some kind of time machine, or its all a conspiracy, or its a game, or this is all an experiment.
SO...... If this anime wants to make you think so freaking hard, then I guess we could assume Mion and Shion is just one person with multiple personalities, which explains their mood swings/demons/parasites/aliens/multiple worlds.

Well, granted, this is a series focused on mystery so there's a lot of thinking and predicting along the way. I mean, yeah, you will get confused firsthand but that's why one has to keep watching and understand the meaning behind everything.

I personally don't think it has anything to do with aliens.
I actually believed that parasite/disease thing, that is, until we saw more of Takano's scrapbooks. I mean... mole people? Then I though all of them are false, but now I think the parasite/disease theory is true and the rest are red herrings.

Yeah, thats why I kept watching all the way to episode 26. I finished the first season and now I still don't understand. Hence the reason why I am here now complaining lol..
This anime is really good, but it really pisses me off sometimes. ESPECIALLY when someone kills their friend in one episode, and then in the next episode the two of them are playing games like nothing ever happened. Was that just a flashback or was that another dimension/world??? Or did Rika use her stupid time machine and rewind time back? OR was that all a dream??? Or that person has mental issues??? ORRRR IS THIS ALL IN RIKA's HEAD AND SHE IS SOME KIND CRAZY SCHIZOPRENIA GIRL? Wait..... maybe its the aliens!!!

NO WAIT, I am mentally unstable like keichi and I've killed people before and I Imagine things..... WAIT HOLD ON, Shion is behind all of this because she has a demon inside her, but no, maybe its the parasites in her.... CRAP HOLD ON, maybe its those people inside that van that is causing all of this!! NOOO ITS ACTUALLY RIKA who is doing this because she happens to have magical powers.

Kai will answer the big mysteries but many mini mysteries will be left open from lack of detail in the anime; It's impossible for the anime to contain all the information given in the games.
Here's a list of everything that happens in the first six arcs. (end of the first season) All this info was available before the final two arcs through: TIPS, anime, scenes/details left out etc. So looking at it won't ruin Kai for you.
All this was taken from AnimeSuki but I suspect many avoided the thread, in fear being spoiled.
Onikakushi-hen - Episodes 1-4
Keiichi comes back to Hinamizawa after returning from his relative's place
Kei meets Takano Miyo and Tomitake Jirou who explains to him about Hinamizawa's past
Kei is contacted by Oishi about Takano and Tommy's mysterious death
Kei begins to doubt his friends, which triggers a psychological effect in him that leads to him beating Rena and Mion to death.
Kei scratches out his throat and dies at the phone booth as he tries to tell Oishi that the Oyashiro-sama does exist
It is assumed that Rika is murdered by someone watanagashi style soon thereafter
And it is assumed that the Great Hinamizawa Disaster occurs in this world.
Watanagashi-hen (see Meakashi-hen as well) - Episodes 4-8
Despite what the anime showed, Rika does not commit suicide in this chapter. Rika is actually tortured to death in Watanagashi-hen by Shion.
Takano semi-approaches both Keiichi and Shion
Oishi approaches Keiichi
In this chapter, the viewer is mislead into believing that it was indeed the Sonozaki family and Mion behind all of this. All of this will be refuted in Meakashi-hen.
Despite Rika's death, the Great Hinamizawa Disaster DOES NOT occur (see Meakashi-hen's ending roll)
The bloody Mion/Shion that appeared from Kei's hospital bed was...Kei's delusion. In either case, his mental stability deteriorated rapidly soon after and died of a heart attack a few days later.
Tatarigoroshi-hen - Episodes 9-13
The corpse that you saw was not Satoshi. The anime made a mistake here, the hair color was blonde instead of purple. This was corrected in the DVD release. The body was Mamiya Rina.
Since his bitch was dead, Houjou Teppei (Satoko's abusive uncle) had to return to Hinamizawa since he has no social skills whatsoever other than extortion and living off of other people's money. He is technically the guardian of Satoko, so he brings her back in to treat her as his personal slave.
It is assumed that the abuse Satoko endured included some sort of sexual abuse as well
Kei calls Mion telling her to take Satoko out to the festival. Unknown to him, Kei is actually talking to Shion in Mion's disguise. Because she knew that Kei was following in the footsteps of Satoshi right before he killed his aunt, she realized that Kei was about to do the same for Satoko's uncle.
Despite how Shion was portrayed in Watanagashi-hen, she is really a kind and caring person towards Satoko. Unfortunate events happened which triggered her madness and hatred towards Satoko in the previous chapter.
Kei kills Houjou Teppei. This is given.
Kei meets up with Takano in the night. Strangely, Kei noticed that Tomitake is not around, despite seeing his bicycle in her car. She begins to get irritated at Kei's incessant questions. She drops Kei off warning him that "we did not meet - it's better for the both of us that way, no?"
Oishi approaches Kei
The next day, everyone pretended that Kei was at the Watanagashi Festival by making a false alibi. Remember the Hinamizawa credo. Hence the conversation with Mion and Rena afterschool, "Keiichi, do you mind coming over for a while" and "Yes bring the receipt, don't forget that as that is important." They were trying to cover for Kei and they were about to tell him about the plan, but he failed to recognize their body language...
Satoko is in a state of delusion. Due to her abuse, she still believes that her abusive uncle still exists. Kei doesn't know her state of mind so he believes that Satoko's uncle is still alive.
Dr. Irie commited suicide (or was made to look like he committed suicide)
Rika is watanagashi'ed
The Great Hinamizawa Disaster occurs
What ever happened, DID NOT HAPPEN because Kei thought so. it was all just a coincidence.
What happened to Satoko is never known. It is assumed that she was killed by some culprits. Poor Satoko - her brother is missing, she thought that she gained a new nii-nii-, only to have that dream shattered with the entrance of Teppei, she reaches her delusional point, she sees her best friend's dead body (believing that Kei killed her), pushes Kei off the bridge, only to be killed as she is running away.
Himatsubushi-hen - Episodes 14-15
This is basically the beginning of one of the worlds a little after Rika was rebooted into another world.
Akasaka usually dies when he comes to Hinamizawa.
Rika tries to warn Akasaka that he must go back to Tokyo before he dies and to save his pregnant wife from falling down the stairs.
Rika also tells Akasaka that people will start to die in the coming years, ending with her own death in June (or just a bit after) of 1983.
Since Rika is the one who retains memories of past worlds, it is obvious that she knows what is going to happen. Others around her however do not know this, so they see Rika as being some sort of prophet.
As luck would have it, Akasaka lives in this world. However, his wife still dies.
Fast fowards several years, Akasaka is alive and is talking to Oishi in Hokkaido.
Here we learn that Rika was indeed watanagashi'ed in this world as well
And that the Great Hinamizawa Disaster did in fact occur here as well.
Meakashi-hen - Episodes 16-21
By showing Watanagashi-hen through Shion's eyes, we see that it was Shion all along
As in Watanagashi, Takano semi-approaches both Shion and Kei
Takano gives her scrapbooks to Shion
Shion does in fact hear footsteps in the shrine. What was it?
Shion gradually degrades herself into insanity and she begins her descent into madness as she begins to doubt everyone and everything
Rika tries once more to save Shion before it is all too late. Unfortunately, her limited physical age and size is no match for Shion and she injected with the substance she was holding instead. The substance does not give the intended effect to Rika however. Rather than facing Shion's wrath like she did in Watanagashi, she commits suicide here in Meakashi-hen
All in all, we learn that the Sonozaki family and the gosanke had no involvement in the murders or the disappearance of Satoshi.
Despite Rika's death, the Great Hinamizawa Disaster DOES NOT occur in this chapter
Tsumihoroboshi-hen - Episodes 22-26
Mamiya Rina and Houjou Teppei were in cohoots to extort money from Rena's father. She kills them in retaliation to protect her family.
Takano gives her scrapbook to Rena
Oishi contacts Rena about Takano and Tommy's death
Rena dives deeper and deeper into insanity as she doubts her friends
Kei has a sudden recollection of his wrongdoing in the Onikakushi world.
Rika sees this as a light that she has been waiting for. All this time, she was alone, but miraculously Kei was able to remember!
Rena holds the school as hostage and fights Kei on top of the school rooftop.
Rena regains her sanity. Rika is in tears as she finds that there might be a way to break through this endless loop after all.
Unfortunately, Rika is watanagashi'ed soon thereafter
The Great Hinamizawa Disaster occurs.

I know this is old Higurashi knowledge, but it really amuses me whenever I look at the Japanese village (http://kendra.wordpress.com/2006/07/10/the-real-hinamizawa) which was used as basis for Hinamizawa. Man, I'm glad I found this thread. After being banned from animesuki, I was convinced I wouldn't find any other place to talk about Higurashi. Hope the staff is here is nicer than the staff there. I got banned because I used a quote from Bleach in my sig from the ending theme song. You know, Nobody knows who I really am? Then some smart-aleck admin bans me, quotes it, says he knows who I am and I'm banned.:( :mad
And when I tried to email about it, here's the message he sent me. Is this bogus are what:
"As far as we are concerned, you are the same person who created the
Shion's Sanity account. While you may object to this we do not care if
any of the following is true or not.
* That Shion's Sanity is your sister (or any other relative).
* That Shion's Sanity is your friend.
* That you have never heard of Shion's Sanity.
Your account has been banned because we consider you to be one and the
same. You can complain all you like but we have given you a number of
chances on the forum and it seems that you just don't have a clue as
how

Please don't bother contacting us again, it's very unlikely we will

you will be banned without warning."

Not only that but Akasaka took Rika's advice thus saving his unborn child and wife. Things are going a bit too good for Rika, but at least in this world the pieces are slowly coming together which means the next time around she'll have a better angle finding out the true culprit behind her constant deaths.

Actually, didn't his child survive that fall?
I always wondered about how characters remember things. In past arcs, some characters remember a few things, like Satoko using Keiichi's words, and Keiichi saying something to Mion that Shion said to him in Watanagashi...

Asasaka taking Rika's advice is a good and bad thing. Good that he saved his wife and unborn child; bad that he didn't hear Rika's plea. In Himatsubushi Rika told him all of the upcoming deaths, including hers but in this world, he doesn't know of them.

geez animesuki is just a forum. I don't see why you can't just move on. I mean you're obviously treated better here so who gives a damn what animesuki thinks? No reason to angst over a forum.

I really hate it when people act like the internet should not be taken seriously and think that they can treat others like dirt as a result. The internet is not a free pass to act like a complete jerk-you should be held accountable for your actions. Nothing makes me madder than people who take pleasure in doing sick stuff to people online, then try and say they are good people offline, so it doesn't matter what they do online. That's the kind of thinking all those predators who seduce children online have. It's the same with animesuki. Currently, it's the biggest Higurashi forum out there, and even if it weren't, it's not right that their staff should be permitted to treat members so horrible.>_<

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you about that. I was just saying that you shouldn't take a forum that seriously. I mean so what if you got banned? You're here now and you're treated better here. Why even care about animesuki? It's not going to get you back on there or anything. You should j ust move on and realize that there are better forums out there. Put animesuki behind you and it'll take all that stress and frustration off.
Heck if I got banned from Arlong Park forums I wouldn't give a crap. Especially since the people there are just as much jerks as the people whom you claim are from animesuki.

As expected, Naraku no Hana in full is made of pure win. As for the ED, Taishou a, as much as we keep comparing it to the season one OP, why, or why not, the song is good on its own.
The B-side tracks for both, FLOW for the OP single and Rothschild Rh- for the ED single are nice tracks as well. Especially FLOW - it has a nice, cool vibe.
Simply put it, these singles are definitely worth the wait and the download. :thumbs

Hanyuu sure is pessimistic. She's positive the world will end in failure. She's normally the optimistic one too. Does she know more than she lets on?

Never said it wouldn't be enjoyable, I only said it'll lessen it, which it does. Part of the fun of Higurashi is trying to figure out the answers yourself before they're given. When you spoil yourself you completely remove that factor. Higurashi is part mystery; It purposely gives you clues and hints so you can piece together the answers.
Amatsu
08-23-2007, 06:08 AM
Meh I had fun watching it even though I already know who's behind it.
To me it's about how Rika stops that person. Not about the mystery. After all once the mystery is over what is left to do but catch the person?
The main thing I love about Higurashi is the characters and how they interact. Plus the individual stories that intertwine into one big plot. That's what makes Higurashi great to me. It's ingenious the way it's done considering we know it's all one big time loop like out of a star trek episode.
What keeps me watching is the "what'll happen next factor." Yeah I know who did it but I still want to know what happens and that makes me excited to watch Higurashi every week cause I want to see how Casey and Friends will try to get out of it this time?

I spoiled myself back when season one ended because no one knew for sure if there would be a second. I kind of regret it now but it allows me to participate in any Higurashi discussion without fear of spoilers. But I had a lot of fun piecing together clues in the first season, trying to figure out the mystery. It's fun to share your theories with others but there's no point in doing that when everyone already knows what will happen.
Higurashi is easily my favorite anime now. I just love how rich the story and characters are. But I never realized how rich everything was until I read the TIPS and PIECES. There's some shaky bits here and there, but overall the story is solid. Pretty much everything comes together. Everything that happens, happens for a reason. You'd be hard pressed to find plot holes.
Kai is doing an excellent job covering Minagoroshi though, so there's no need to spoil yourself if you haven't already.

1. When kei went out to go and kill Satoko's uncle he talked to Mion to take her to the festival right and she said that this happened already or de ja vu with Satoshi, but on episode 16 or 17 it was Shion that talked to him at that time not mion so was there a screw up or something in the show or was the one that talked to Kei really Shion?
2. Who is the real evil one out of the twins? Because in the earlier episodes when Mion/Shion killed both Rika and Satoko I think it was Shion that did it all but now in episode 17 Mion turns all evil against her sister and stuff. Like wtf is wrong with that family

- Rika turned into Hanyuu... actually quite a few characters turned into someone else, or in one case, got a costume change... its as if they wanted to fit as much characters in as possible XP
- When Rena was swining her cleaver, was that Tomitake on the ground?
- Asuka makes a better Haruhi then Mikuru, but I guess they're just counting looks
- I'm not sure what exactly Rika was doing there... but it was cute
Second video... it looked like mostly parts of related videos/flashes, manga panels, and related pictures put all together... the end had a lot of sketches and pictures (instead of video, that is). Somehow it reminded me the end of Evanlgeion TV Series >_________>

I'd have loved to see all the extra arc's put into the Higurashi Matsuri game. I hear Tsukiotoshi-hen is even darker than Minagoroshi-hen and twice as violent.
Besides it'd be nice to see those animated since it's not like I'll ever get to play the game, and didn't the creator say that Miotsukushi-hen is the TRUE ending? After all from the wikipedia article it says
After finding out who the real murderer is, Rika and Keiichi decide to put an end to the whole mystery, but they are in a different situation than Matsuribayashi-hen. Before they can do anything, they have to solve other people's problems first. The problems of Watanagashi/Meakashi-hen, Tatarigoroshi-hen, and Tsumihoroboshi-hen are met here and all of them must be solved. While Matsuribayashi-hen is the epilogue of PC-port games, it is considered to be the "Good End" of the series. According to the original author, Miotsukushi-hen should be considered the true end of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, implying that it will be a bittersweet, but more meaningful ending.
Besides I wanna see Saikoroshi-hen just because I wanna see why Rika would go psycho in a perfect world.
and well I would think it'd be interesting to see Taraimawashi-hen if only to see how things would go if Keiichi ignored everything.

Here's a good summary of Saikoroshi.
Saikoroshi is the world where nothing happened.
Dr. Irie did not make a clinic in the village. Since there is no clinic, Takano did not come to the village. Oishi had retired since there is no drive for him to continue the police force with bizarre cases never happening. Tomitake nor Akasaka came to the village either. Satoshi is still there living happily with Satoko. Shion and Mion never swapped places and are friendly towards each other. Keiichi is not present since he never shot the girl. Satoko's and Rika's parents are alive. Since Satoko's parents are alive, Teppei never comes into the picture. The Hojou family were not singled out as the village accepted the dam building project. Rena's parents never got divorced; she uses her real name: Reina
Since Satoko never suffered, she never got close to Rika and the club never formed. Since there is no club, Mion, Reina, and Rika are just classmates. For some unknown reason, Hanyuu cannot enter this world and could possibly disappear which means Rika will lose the person who she grew up with, a person who was family to her and been with her since birth and shared all the memories through all the worlds and years. Even more so, because of the dam project going on just fine, everyone will be separated in the future.
The world is ideal. It is the way things should have happened. In this world, Rika can forget everything. Everything, the past 100+ years of torment, is meaningless in this world.
Rika is given the choice: To forget everything and live in a world that's "perfect," or go back to the world where everything she worked for and finally won has meaning. She is given this choice because she took this for granted. She is given this choice because she doesn't realize what she sacrificed for that victory.
Miotsukushi would be nice but it would feel a bit repetitive to have to go through all the rule X triggers again. I think anyone who hasn't been spoiled would rather jump to the good stuff which is what Matsuribayashi does. But.. I'd like to see the anime finish with a bittersweet ending instead of the sappy happy ending Matsuribayashi has.

You don't have to search. I already did it for you, for the link I dished out leads you straight to the episode itself.
Anyway, finally seen Episode 8.
This is one reason why Higurashi is that good - on how it can do a 360 with emotions. From last weeks hopeful one, this one has despair written all over it.
As expected, Teppei's appearance simply screwed up Rika's hopes, and Rika just gives up that easily after that. Can't blame her considering that she has been through this a lot of times, and that whenever Teppei shows up, it's like Game Over for Rika.
It was nice that her emo-scene at the Irie clinic didn't turn bad, unlike last season's infamous facial distortions.
And yes, as I said before, I knew someone will snap, and in this case, it was Shion. Keiichi sure is the cool guy that he is ever since the start of this arc by stopping Shion after getting hit by her with a chair. Not to mention that next week's preview suggests him doing more of his "smooth talking", which is what I presume Keiichi "is good at".
Speaking of which, that chair-hitting scene was really moving. I have to give credit to DEEN as well as the VAs because that scene was executed beautifully.
Oh, Kameda-kun is making another appearance next week... and he's eating sweets! :oh

After all the great strides that occurred in that world. Satoko's uncle just had to be the triggering event.
Although, I have to give it to them. They've resisted succumbing to their fates multiple times. Satoko's uncle and the feeling of being helpless in aiding a good friend must be weighing down on them heavily and yet they've managed to resist it.
For a second, I thought Keiichi would have been the one to kill her uncle but then I remembered it would have been boring to have him do it again, and Shion was next in line :awesome
Good thing keiichi was able to remember his past life in that scenario as well as Rena remembering a few more things from her world where she was the killer.

In a way Keiichi was the key that opened the door. After all it was probably him remembering the events of Onikakushi-hen in Tsumihoroboshi-hen that caused everyone else to remember the past worlds in Minagoroshi-hen.
Though the Akasaka thing is a bit bizarre seeing as how I thought the ordeal with Akasaka was something set in stone that could not be changed. It's really interesting how this world is working out. Though let's hope Keiichi's smooth talking can save Satoko.

In a way Keiichi is like Akasaka. One of the more important pieces on the game board. If anything Keiichi has proved time and again that while most things stay constant in each world it's Keiichi who seems to alter fate the most. Second would be Rena.
Though I wonder who's better shounen bat Keiichi or Cool Keiichi?
I loved how Rika snapped though. It's just surprising that Rika of all people can snap in the kind of world Saikoroshi-hen was yet here you'd have expected her to snap and start killing people here in Minagoroshi-hen by now. Especially when she was yelling that everyone should die.

Saikoroshi-hen is one twisted arc. Aside from the recent episode, it's rare to see Rika snap. Well, can we demand an OVA of the extra chapters, perhaps?
Haha... that's a nice thought. We may think that it's Rika's turn to do a Rule X after her rage at the clinic, but that would be a funny thought considering that it's that rule that she wants to break more than the other two.

I always get this way when I'm in this thread. I try to recall events from the first season and often get tripped up which is why I barely post here xD
Okay, now I understand why Keiichi was chosen as the trigger for that scenario.
@QBnoYouкo: In regard to this thread's milestone, it's certainly worth celebrating :awesome

Shion was around in Tatarigoroshi. She's the one he spoke to on the phone about taking Satoko to the festival. (of course he thought he was speaking to Mion) It's possible that Shion would have killed Teppei if Keiichi hadn't stepped up first.

No, you're just being paranoid. Everyone gets ignored at least once in this forum.
And damn, I thought I had all the Higurashi music there is until I heard this:
Thanks/you - Satsuki Yukino version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDvpo95xEXM)
Anyone have an idea which album this came from? :huh
