Well just finished watching it and enjoyed it, however I felt something was missing. I checked out the manga and it really explains alot of important things that the anime didnt. But overall great anime (no anime episode has made me cringed more than episode 21 :)). Looking forward to season 2.

It wasn't as if she was carrying a gun but after setting up the bomb, I can understand why there wasn't more of an effort at taking her down. And now that I think about it, she did a good job at making sure that any adult who could have psoed a theat wasn't there at the time.

You know I'd love to see a 2-D Higurashi fighting game. It'd consist of all the characters in Higurashi Daybreak and of course each character would come equipped with their trademark weapons.

Also for specials it would work like this. There would be a "Hinamizawa Syndrome" bar under the health bar that's split into five bars. Each character will have a special at L1 a Super Special at L3 and a Ultimate Special at L5. Also a picture of the character's face will be displayed too and while the Hinamizawa Syndrome bar increases the picture will slowly change from normal to their more deranged and psychotic appearances when the bar hit's L5.

For instance Rena's specials might be

L1 - Teleports behind opponent and strikes them over the head with her cleaver
L3- USODA! scream
L5 - Rena takes out the bomb from the atonement chapter and detonates it.

I even thought that characters would have specific attacks relating to who they fight. Such as if Shion is fighting Mion; Shion's character specific attack would resemble that part in the anime showing Shion in a dominatrix outfit whipping an Uke looking Mion.

I thought of other specials as well

Shion

L1 - Appears behind the opponent and tazer's them in the back of the head.
L3 - Makes the opponent lower their guard by making them worry about her only for her to stab the opponent in the stomach. (Think what Shion did to Keiichi at the end of Watanagashi-hen.)
L5 - The opponent is tazered and wakes up on the contraption Satoko was during Meakashi-hen. Shion then starts psychotically stabbing the opponent over and over then finishing them off by stabbing them in the face. (Sort of like what she did to Satoko.)

Mion

L1 - Takes the air pistol out of her holster and fires an enormously huge size ki blast at the opponent knocking them back. (Yeah I know... Ki blast? Well I couldn't think of anything else and heck it's like she's shooting ki blasts from that thing in Higurashi Daybreak.)
L3 - Restrains the opponent and injects them with the syringe she injected Keiichi with in Onikakushi-hen the opponent then damages themselves
L5 - Mion knocks the opponent out and the opponent wakes up on the contraption Keiichi was on in Watanigashi-hen. Mion then proceeds to drive nails into the opponent's finger joints. (I know it was Shion who planned to do that to Keiichi but well I figured nothing wrong with splitting Shion's insanity up between the two sisters.)

Keiichi

L1 - Ero Keiichi Power! (Think what Keiichi did the first time he was in Angel Mort and thought Shion in the maid outfit was Mion.)
L3 - Shounen bat Keiichi from Onikakushi-hen
L5 - Shounen bat Keiichi with nii-nii power from Tatarigoroshi-hen

Satoko

L1 - Satoko cries which summons Satoshi to damage the opponent
L3 - Satoko uses a deadly trap to injure the opponent
L5 - Satoko pushes the opponent off a bridge in the same fashion the did to Keiichi at the end of Tatarigoroshi-hen

Rika

L1 - Rika says "Nipah~!" which damages the opponent due to it's sheer cuteness.
L3 - Rika's voice changes to her deeper more serious voice as she tells the opponent that their death has already been decided before impaling them with the ceremonial hoe she uses during the festival.
L5 - Psycho Rika from Saikoroshi-hen surfaces and completely mutilates the opponent with a scythe

Anyway, I do recommend that you read the manga. The anime has, in one way or another, missed/altered some details from the original game (which I don't mind, really), and the manga is the closest you can get to the original storyline without having to play the game itself. The only beef to this is that scanlations take quite some time.

The first arc had me so captivated in its horror. The needle in the ohagi, Rena repeating "gomen" to Keiichi while he continuously locks the door on her hand and tells her "kaeru" over and over. Reminds me of a doujin I saw where Keiichi got arrested for that, Satoko got instatutionalized for mental trauma, and the other girls erased Keiichi's existance from Hinamizawa because of him being a pedo. If it was, the anime series would've been very shitty like a huge majority of anime adaptations of eroge, mainly because they always pick the ending nobody wants to see, that's how they work. Only that which is Oyashiro-sama's curse is all that matters.

Anyway, here's my 2 cents on it:
I don't know what to think of it. When everyone is acting "normal", it's all right. But where Higurashi's VAs shined was when they were all going crazy, and those weren't so... good. Though Mion's VA does an okay job with the opening laugh in episode 5.

Rena's USODA! utterly failed. Not creepy and bone-chilling at all.

And they translated Watanagashi.

The 13+ thing is odd, but at least it's uncut and uncensored. Or maybe the 13+ thing is actually wrong.

Now as for the clips itself...

Whoever's playing Mion is very good. Seems like out of everyone I've heard, she's the best. Which means Watanagashi-hen is certainly gonna be entertaining once again. Yes, the laughter that started Watanagashi... excellent.

Keiichi sounds older than I expected. Too old to be exact. I guess it's too much to ask for a raspy voice like Hoshi? I can see Rena's voice working here but I definitely agree that the "LIAR!" part was particular shoddy. Needs to be extremely louder with effect, just like how Mai does it. I couldn't hear enough of Satoko or Rika to really say anything. Ooishi sounds just like the typical smoking cop so it works.

Well apparently it means "next boy" though I remember seeing on a thread where apparently Tomitake's name Jirou was a pun that had to do with death or being the trigger of an event and that's how he got the name.
