Only problems. How long is the series with 2 games released per year? Release date? 2008 or next year?
Is it too early for an Umineko anime adaptation?

I'd prefer a longer series rather than an OVA. OVAs mean higher quality animation, though, the animation was never the key factor that kept me hooked to this series. :(

As for manga... Onikakushi, Watanagashi, Tatarigoroshi, Himatsubushi, Oni Sarashi, Utsutsukowashi, Yoigoshi. I believe that's the correct order of reading. I know I at least got the first four right.

By the time it starts there will be 3 or 4 games out. 3 if it starts this year and 4 if it starts next year. That's plenty if they make each arc around 8 episodes.

Well, as great as the timing may seem... Higurashi started 2002. The anime started in 2006. Umineko started in 2007. One year afterwards? They can handle the first season; it's got three or four sagas to cover. But then season two... will have two at most.

Yeah, it has my interest too; I also know nothing about it. It's interesting that Key is going for a different genre than they usually take with their visual novels though. I wouldn't expect the novel, let alone the anime to be in any visible form for a while though, but I'm anxiously awaiting to see what KyoAni can do with a mystery genre, if they do animate it. :spaz

As of now, Battler hasn't used violence yet (except beating the crap out of Maria. Annoying bitch deserved it.). But if Beatrice and her lightsaber-wielding servants are any indication of what he'll be beating in the future, I'll put my chips in for Battler.

As far as battles go, there needs to be Kanon in it somewhere. I guess against Rena since they both wear weird hats and cleavers. Though I can imagine Kanon dominating that fight...

And then as it would turn out, he can summon a lightsaber as a natural extension of his body, samurai step, create afterimages that can be killed (like Hiei from YYH), and defeat a few people in a room at once. And he wields a cleaver in episode 1 as well. Typical Higurashi strength syndrome (aka a weak-bodied, unathletic, out-of-shape teenager is able to kick a ton of ass when it comes down to fighting for what truly matters).

I can only imagine Akasaka or future Mion matching him though.

I'd love a Higurashi/Umineko crossover though. Nothing beats seeing "what if" situations put into action.

Watched almost every well-known anime and manga (at least, arguably). I still need to finish up a few. As far as not-so-well-known, I... don't read or watch many of those. Maybe if I end up not having to work to get money like the rest of the world, maybe I'll be in my mom's basement (or my own, depending on how much money), I'll watch every anime and manga out there. Higurashi's one of my favorites. It's 1-3 on my favorite anime chart, though I always shift around which one. If you, by some chance, you don't enjoy the first season for whatever reason, and you enjoy TTGL, then skip to season 2. If you enjoy the first season but not the second then... skip to Elfin Lied. I personally love them both, and most people do.

"Shiki- Keiichi"

Both are the main characters of their respective anime. Both go through a lot of shit from their respective girls, and somehow, neither seem to get fed up with it (barring Keiichi in the first saga at least).

"Arcueid- Mion"

Both tomboyish and bustiest figures of their respective series. They are both also the main love interest of the main characters.

"Ciel- Rena"

Both are the secondary love interests of the main character. Both have a girly, bubbly personality, until you piss them off, in which case it's a bitch for both. They also both wield the most popular weapons of their respective series.

"Akiha- Um... the Hinamizawa syndrome itself"

"Hisui- Blank-eyed Satoko"

Both show a lack of emotion on a constant basis. Both of them are easy to startle as well.

"Kohaku- Rika"

Both have a cheerful personality on the outside, but are really serious people on the inside. And both outside and inside, their personality is almost constant until it comes time for something important to happen.

"Yumizuka- Shion"

Mainly elimination, but to the main character, they're both relationships that sorta start but... don't really go anywhere.

"Arihiko- Tomitake"

Similar to how Arihiko sometimes butts his head into Shiki having fun with Ciel, Tomitake butts his head into the game club's fun in one of the Onikakushi mangas.

"Aoko- Frederica"

They're both magicians seen as a way to set up the storyline. They're also arguably the strongest of their respective storyline (although Arcueid might be stronger than Aoko. Not sure).

"Nrvqsr Chaos- Yamainu"

This one's a bit of a stretch, but both of them are groups. Chaos is often seen engaging in battle a few times like the Yamainu. Both are kinda trick villains to make the audience think they're the main villains. And both have a thing with dogs.

"Roa- Takano"

The masterminds and final villain. Um... they both talk a lot as well?

"Tsukihime - Higurashi"

Both are kickass visual novels that sold over 100,000 in sales, making records for doujin games. Both have their own fighting games, and both had titles for the PS2, a rarity among doujin titles. Both have multiple storylines. Both have pseudo-sequals (Fate/Stay Night and Umineko) that expand upon their world's magic.

Now if only Tsukihime had a good anime like Higurashi did...

Alrighty then, during the credits of the last episode, the part where they showed Frederica and young Takano... Did Frederica change it so that Takano's parents lived? It seemed like they were implying that.

It's a possibility. I really don't know though. I remember reading something about Takano escaping from the loony bin. Whether they're talking about Rei or about the true end, I don't know.

But in Rei, it sounds plausible. Rei's all about the perfect world that came as the result of their actions. I'd assume what would be perfect would be Takano having her parents.

Disproving is what keeps Beatrice from using her powers. Similar to Higurashi, the only way to win is through the humans, not the supernatural.

In fact, episode 2 was made to discourage people and make them believe Beatrice exists and did the murders for certain. This is misdirection, a technique commonly used in not only When They Cry, but mysteries as a whole.

Battler will disapprove the witch. After her powers are removed, then I'm sure he'll have his way with her after that.

Not really but you can get the gist of things without really knowing the language. Basically it was Mion confessing to K1, K1 waving it off or getting scared off cause he's far too GAR to be tied down to any one woman. And then Shion, Akane, and Kasai spying on them for whatever reason, but I'm still sure they were gonna kill K1 for running away from Mion.

Just finished the first season and wow, what an amazing series.

I love how one of my favorite voice actors who plays Rika's voice did the narrating, anyways I'll just talk about the the last 2 episodes. When Keichii noticed that the world resets and Rika acknowledging that and saying that was a miracle what was probably best twist that happened. I thought it was just an anime showing different storyline arcs on how the characters chose their words and actions but it goes even deeper than that. Some questions though, what is it with those parasites? Where did they come from, I must have missed something, was it the demons or whatever made those type of bugs? I'm not really sure how the parasites tied into this.

What is it that makes Rika know everything? I loved her role and her cute personality just don't understand how she is aware of the resets.

I loved the fight on the rooftop, I was really hoping for that for awhile too. Because we all know that Keichii 10/10 with the bat and Rena is 10/10 with the wierd farm sword.

Seems like the best pairings were ShionxSatoshi, KeichiixMion (which seemed liked the best pairing too, it seemed it was applied in every arc.) and KeichiixRena also seemed pretty possible.

I'm glad it was a happy ending too, except for the camera guy and that annoying blonde lazy eyes, I didn't care for either of them, probably the creators knew they had little impact so they left them for dead in every reset lol.

I guess I'll start the second season now, this is fun, watching a show keeping you on the edge of the seat but luckily I don't have to wait a week since my brother has both seasons downloaded so I can watch them back to back.

I don't mind less gore and from the looks of that guys sig, I'm glad everyone will still be in the next season and a new character apparently. All the characters were actually good people and stuff, its just the area and other spoilerish stuff what makes their demon blood awake or whatever makes them go psychotic, just got to choose the right options to get the good ending with non psycho lolis and tsunderes.

I still call it Cleaver-kun, but that's cause it sounds better than hatchet-kun.

As for coupling, just like in the case of Nasuverse, choosing one sucks; you miss out. I even see Mion as the perfect girlfriend (green hair + boobs + reliable as all hell + fun tomboy = perfect girlfriend), but still missing out on Rena and Shion would suck. Especially when they calm down from the whole... evil thing.

Wow, that was a really great episode so many funny moments, especially when the little kid students were making up all these rumors about him to lure him out of the shack and Rena's moe moment to stop him from tagging her.

Jeez, Rika has to endure so many different things in different realities. She was so hoping for another miracle to happen when Satako said something familiar from last season. The only miracles she mentioned so far was Keiichi remembering the other ending and Rena being cured from her parasite sickness thing by herself.(which was the super paranoia thing I think)

I also have to remind myself to look at the previews since theres always a little entertaining theater at the end.

I read the Umineko visual novels (I keep the baka-tsuki website script on the top of the screen and put the actual window on the bottom of the screen), but I'm gonna have to wait til Onikakushi-hen's fully translated before doing Higurashi. I'm working on learning Japanese though, so maybe I'll be able to get into Higurashi VNs eventually.

I also play Daybreak. I'm pretty good at it with Mion and Shion. If it counts, my friend's got a few Higurashi characters on Mugen, so in that sense, that's kinda a Higurashi game.

It's by Frontier Works, which is definitely a good company for sure. They also made Immaterial and Missing Power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, two of my favorite fighting games, even though people'll probably never hear of them in their lifetime...

Okay, thanks. I've been wanting .avi becuase I can't properly burn .mkv onto DVDs. .mpg4 works fine though.

The problem with .mkv is the subtitles don't transfer right. I can turn them on on the DVD but it uses some huge ugly text the the DVD player gives me and it dosn't fit on the screen.
