Just finished watching this season last night! I was extremely satisfied with the ending and I can't wait for the 3rd season! Although this season didn't have as much violence as the last season, and none of those "ewww" scenes, like the finger nail removal bit in the first season. :(

Also, wasn't there meant to be another story arc with this season?! ><

Anyhow, anyone have any recommendations on anime similar to this while I'm waiting for the 3rd season?! I've already got my plate full with TTGL and Shana atm, but I really love this genre of anime! Suggest away, thanks! :D

I have the same feeling! They didn't have any extra story arcs with Kai, so I'm not sure what they'll do; Perhaps we're in for 2 more seasons (1 story season and 1 solution season)? :amazed Hope so!

The series as a whole is fantastic, definitely worth continuing in my opinion. The 2nd season is very different to the first season but it answers all those "Wasn't she.." "Who is that.." "And what the fuck was that.." questions left from the first season, tying up any loose ends and ending in a satisfying way. :P

lol. And if I recall correctly, the first scene in episode 6 is disturbing and only adds to the mystery of the anime. Argh, I want to rewatch the entire series again, lol, but sadly I only have season 1 in RM format and it's horrible after watching TTGL in 1280x720.h264 format, lol. :(

You know I've been getting a lot of ideas for a 3-D style Higurashi game. Like for instance it would be a huge free roaming enviornment where you can traverse Hinamizawa and Shishibone City where I believe stuff like the angel mort, the toy shop, the police dartment, etc. is situated.

The playable character system would be set up like One Piece Unlimited Adventure's where at any time you can switch between the main seven characters at any time. Each character of course would have their signature weapons such as Keiichi with his bat, Rena with her cleaver, Mion using twin air pistols that fires like a Uzi or submachine gun, Shion and her tazer, Rika and her ceremonial hoe, and well Satoko being the weakest character would only be able to push enemies but she compensates for it by being able to set up traps anywhere that can inflict damage during battle as well. As for Hanyuu she'd be able to freeze time and use Oyashiro Beam just like in Daybreak.

The game's storyline would follow of course all the arcs of the series, and you don't have all the characters at your disposal at once. Instead you work from scratch and gain the characters. For instance when the game begins you'll start off as Rika after her first death. In the space with all the fragments you'll basically play as Rika as Hanyuu teaches you the basic controls and everything. From there you'll move into the main game. With each chapter completed you'll gain a new character to use at any time. For instance...

Finish Onikakushi-hen = You get Keiichi as a playable character
Finish Watanigashi-hen = You get Mion as a playable character
Finish Tatarigoroshi-hen = You get Satoko as a playable character
Finish Maekashi-hen = You get Shion as a playable character
Finish Tsumihoroboshi-hen = You get Rena as a playable character
Finish Minagoroshi-hen = You get Himatsubushi-hen
Finish the game at 100% = You get Hanyuu as a playable character

and that's not all. All the PS2 arcs would be included as well. Also by finishing Himatsubushi-hen you'll gain the "Another story" mode called Akasaka's chronicals that detail Akasaka's adventures from Himatsubushi-hen all the way to the end of Matsuribayashi-hen.

and there will be other mini games/side quests where you will get to play as Satoshi, Tomitake, Oishi, Kasai, and even Irie.

The battle system would mainly be like a real time RPG setting where you can level up your characters and make them stronger. The enemies you'll mostly fight to do this are the men in gray. The Hinamizawa Syndrome meter will act as your "special attack" bar in a way. When you reach L5 you can use that characters most powerful technique.

And even though you won't get Hanyuu officially until you complete the game at a hundred percent you do get to play as Hanyuu in game. The final boss battle against Takano will basically be where you get to play as Hanyuu until you earn her.

As for the pieces they would be condensed into cut scenes and placed in a seperate gallery in the extra's menu so as not to take too much away from the gameplay. You could also watch any cut scene from the game there too. Other extra's include costume changes and even alternate weapons for the characters. Also a sound test and even a fun vs battle arena for up to four players to battle it out.

Another extra is that you'll be able to play Natsumi's story as well, and there will even be a "create your own character" area where you can create your own villager and the best part is that the original character would get their own scenario. It would be the same scenario for all original characters but it's a neat concept all the same. Plus you'd be able to use them in the battle arena too.

So yeah this is at least my idea for a Higurashi game and I believe it could work well even with all the text and everything involved in it. I mean hey if they could make an anime out of Higurashi can't see why they couldn't do the same with a game as well.

You're asking quite a bit. I don't think much people draw here, as you haven't got a response in the past. You could try asking around DeviantArt, but expect a price for commisions. There is a price for labor. I draw myself, so I know. Though I happen to be consumed by laziness so I don't do much requests, and when I do it takes over a month (besides, I'm not extremely good). Anyway, like I said, try DeviantArt.

Kai will answer the big mysteries but many mini mysteries will be left open from lack of detail in the anime; It's impossible for the anime to contain all the information given in the games.

Here's a list of everything that happens in the first six arcs. (end of the first season) All this info was available before the final two arcs through: TIPS, anime, scenes/details left out etc. So looking at it won't ruin Kai for you.

All this was taken from AnimeSuki but I suspect many avoided the thread, in fear being spoiled.


The part about Tatarigoroshi-hen is news to me, up until now I was sure the strange events in that arc were a result of the different timelines/parallel worlds starting to overlap. So far I've seen all of the first series and 7 eps of the second.

Also this confirms my suspision that the Great Hinamizawa Disaster can only occur when Rika is killed by the Men in Grey.

You know I'm reading through the Umineko thread on animesuki and it's like no matter how much I read I'm only more confused on what went on in the story. If I could read Japanese I would do so myself, but is there a chance someone who's read the chapters could give me a detailed description on what went on in these first two arc's so I know what's going on? Especially in regards to how the characters die or vanish. I asked this in te thread on animesuki also and nobody was willing to aid me.

I honestly wish wikipedia had a full summary of these arcs to quench my curiosity, but well it doesn't seem like they'll ever have full summaries of the arcs and the manga isn't exactly moving fast either. So any help would be appreciated.

I'm on chapter 4 of Umineko and it's like I can hardly even get into it. I'm pretty sure I'd like it more in anime form but it's just so boring to read it. I find the characters interesting though and I still say Battler is just as GAR as K1 if not more so, but the story just seems so damn slow.

That and Higurashi's always been a crazy source of storylines. You got Rei, the PS2 visual novel, the manga storylines. I'm sure the DS visual novels'll be adding new stuff too.

But since the visual novels, manga, and PS2 all sorta went their separate ways, it's also possible for the anime to do so as well.

I hope the last season of Higurashi, whatever that may be, has a cameo of Battler and Beatrice just to have us speculating ties or something along those lines.

yeah but you can read the script at baka tsuhi where it's being translated. As I said though reading it seems a bit boring though. Maybe it's just not the same from reading it on the PC novel though.

If anything though I have the feeling that the anime is going to be amazing when it gets around to it.

Nearly all of these Umineko spoilers are unmarked, and as the patch isn't out yet, it is highly unlikely that "most of the people here" are already aware of them. This is a forum for discussion of Higurashi, not Umineko, regardless of whether or not they are related. If someome sees a spoiler tag here, they are going to assume it's for Higurashi. This is exactly how people end up getting spoiled. There's a proper forum for Umineko discussion, so just go talk about it there. I don't see why you are putting up such a fight. This thread is not for Umineko.

O_OUm, you are mistaken. Umineko is NOT a continuation of Higurashi, nor does it take place in the same universe. I've heard it specifically stated that it takes place in another, seperate universe. Umineko is a completely seperate story. The only connection between the two is the appearance of *her*. The Dragonball series is hardly comparable, as they are literally a continuation of another, with essentially the same exact characters.

At any rate, why is everyone making such a big deal out of it? I mean, even if it does contain a nod or two to Higurashi, Umineko is its own story, right? Why not just create a seperate thread? It's not like it's some huge ordeal to make one, and it would be a really considerate gesture to the people who want to continue talking about Higurashi or who haven't played Umineko yet. There's really no need to jump all over SS and SC or insult them. They raise a valid concern. Where would Umineko be? Manga? Games? Its just we've built this thread around the When They Cry (Naku Koro ni) series. It continues the story of the witches and is an extention of Higurashi. The content is very related. I just don't see the point.

Meanwhile, Umineko is also growing. It's not only a visual novel series, but a manga, and it's only a matter of time before it reaches the same height as Higurashi. Just create a thread for it and stop causing trouble here. You're only doing all this to spite me for whatever reason, and it's childish.
