Oh that's funny, I realised that it was paranoid delusion by sometime around episode 10. By that time, the only one who scared me was Takano, who was just plain creepy. Which was weird, because in Onikakushi-hen and most of Watanagashi-hen, she was mostly a forgetable character. I also didn't really believe anything the characters were saying they were, except for say Shion's "demon" inside her. Rena's claim about "aliens" just made me LOL.

Here's the history of this thread based from my point-of-view. Of course, I could be wrong...

Youko, Leon and Onna are the oldest active members in the village. They were present in the first season discussion. I came in months after the first season ended (it was yes, November of last year) and I settled in this village ever since.

I'm pretty sure that Aethos came after me (since I remember him going "WTF!?" at the episode 4-episode 5 transition and even asking me for some translations. :P), and Paul as well. There's also our local Rena Ryuuguu (who is a Rena cosplayer) who also joined the Higurashi FC I created months ago (it's buried now though).

And then when Kai started, Marth leaves "lurk mode" and becomes one of the most active villager, dishing out a lot of good stuff. There was also Strawberry Shorty, who was also active when Kai started, but she eventually became less active. And oh yes, Kira joined in too as well.

Lastly, the fiesta started, and we got new people entering the village.

In case I forgot names, my apologies.

Better yet, you can read all pages of this thread for the full history. Which I did, since when I joined, the thread only had 500 posts. :P
Y'know, reading that made me go back and read the beginning of the thread. :P And I realized that this thread was what got me to start posting. Although I joined this forum way before Higurashi started, it was what got me to start posting, since the anime forum I was part (at that time) lacked good Higurashi discussions.

Well, Takano is definitely creepy, but we never knew her connection to the whole thing. Can't really blame ourselves for not knowing that earlier.

I mean, for starters, finding out the she's dead 24 hours before the Watanagashi began is just plain creepy. With the way it was set, only a few, if not, no one, would ever think that she faked her death.

The sub releases are random, last week we had episode 18 subs in a few hours after the raw, so I'm surprised we didn't get subs for 19 by now. :(

Before, when Kai was shown on Thursdays, the subs usually come on the weekend. But ever since the schedule was moved to Mondays, Hauuu~ hasn't been consistent with their sub release dates.

If I remember right, 17 was released on a weekend, and 18 was a few days after. Hopefully 19 and 20 will go by that trend. Let's just be patient, people. :nod

I'm kind of a noob at making gifs too but whenever I had gifs that were LQ like your avy, it was because the color number was low. The best is 256 and from there it halves itself. Looks like yours is 64 or below, so you could probably up that a bit.

This is all assuming you're using photoshop which is the only thing I've made gifs in xD

I use imageready and virtualdub

upload the clip you want and il do it for yah

I worked quite long on my sig positioning the starlock glasses and stuff
if you watch it in slowmotion I even put the glasses in parts in two frames because of the door

I actually use TVC (Total Video Converter) to convert vids to animated gifs, then edit the frames using Adobe PhotoShop/ImageReady. Apparently, TVC produces LQ animated gifs. Still, it gets the job done.

That's pretty difficult and then there's the fact that you would need to watch at least the first chapter in order to start to acquire an appreciation for the series, rather than them only watching one episode and becoming disillusioned.

So, what I did was set aside about 2 hours to sit my brother down and let him watch the first chapter (episode 1 over again) and had a newfound appreciation for this series.

I like and read One Piece, Naruto and Bleach.

Right now I think it's One Piece > Naruto > Bleach

One Piece has gone on for so long but it manages to stay fresh and entertaining. Possibly because compared to the other two, the plot takes a back seat. It's more about the Strawhats going on adventures. The plot is there, it's just not the main focus most of the time.

Naruto has been going downhill since the time jump. Too much focus on Sasuke and a lot of wasted potential by not utilizing the other characters.

Bleach feels like one giant copypasta. The current arc is too similar to Soul Society.

But all three are quite enjoyable.

Perfect world isn't so perfect.

Saikoroshi is the world where nothing happened.
Dr. Irie did not make a clinic in the village. Since there is no clinic, Takano did not come to the village. Oishi had retired since there is no drive for him to continue the police force with bizarre cases never happening. Tomitake nor Akasaka came to the village either. Satoshi is still there living happily with Satoko. Shion and Mion never swapped places and are friendly towards each other. Keiichi is not present since he never shot the girl. Satoko's and Rika's parents are alive. Since Satoko's parents are alive, Teppei never comes into the picture. The Houjou family were not singled out as the village accepted the dam building project. Rena's parents never got divorced; she still uses her real name, Reina

Since Satoko never suffered, she never got close to Rika and the club never formed. Since there is no club, Mion, Reina, and Rika are just classmates. For some unknown reason Hanyuu cannot enter this world and could possibly disappear which means Rika will lose the person who she grew up with, a person who was family to her and been with her since birth and shared all the memories through all the worlds and years. Even more so, because of the dam project going on just fine, everyone will be separated in the future.

The world is ideal. It is the way things should have happened. In this world, Rika can forget everything. Everything, the past 100+ years of torment, is meaningless in this world.

Rika is given the choice: To forget everything and live in a world that's "perfect," or go back to the world where everything she worked for and finally won has meaning. She is given this choice because she took this for granted. She is given this choice because she doesn't realize what she sacrificed for that victory.

It must've sucked to have all her efforts disappear like that, I guess I can understand why Rika would destroy that world then.

I think it was supposed to direct you to the idea that the gas disaster wasn't a "natural" occurance. I mean, hydrogen sulfide, I'm pretty sure, was the gas that was used to kill everyone. And it showed the MIG having possibly a bigger role than what was shown in the first season. They also used the 2nd season art style, but still used the first season's opening, which I found kinda strange.

Nicovideo is good for watching raws before the torrent is available. I always watch the lastest Higurashi Kai raw there several hours before a torrent is available.

Well, if the news about it is true, there will be a manga adaptation of the first chapter of Umineko (Legend of the Golden Witch) in December.

That would probably be the closest we can get.
