Is the first episode ANY representation of the serie?

and somebody PLEASE upload episode two to rapidshare, torrent is so slow that it would take two days and MU is over its gaylimit :arg

I'll explain it like this. Things are light hearted and happy until the festival starts and then shit hits the fan.

Besides you learn to love the characters even in the happy times. Not every second has to be full of hot-blooded action and violence.

Well, this show can go from super cute to super violent. No, it's not really a harem or light-hearted. It's a mystery/suspense/psychological story. And make sure you're watching the 1st season, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, not Higurashi no Naku koro ni Kai (2nd season)

I agree TTGL is awesome if you wanna watch a action packed anime shounen mecha. There's still other genres and Higurashi is certainly one of the best anime in its category. (suspense/mystery/horror)

But if you stick with Higu for a few episodes and give it a chance you might like it.

I wouldn't actually call it loli action considering how the majority of the main cast is 14 or older (Rena and the Sonozaki twins are definitely not in that category). I'd probably blame WinD for spreading false advertisement, especially because of the fact that they aren't psychotic killers at all.

It was nice to actually see Satoshi get decent amount screen time in this episode. And at least now we know why the club was created in the first place as well as seeing more of Rena's past and her coming back to Himazawa.

Seeing two paranoid people in Satoshi and Rena conversing with one another always filled me with some uneasiness, for which I can't really explain. It was also good seeing another side to Mion's grandmother. I liked the analogy she used about new people coming into the village as fresh air. Including Rika and Hanyuu talking to Keiichi's father, it seems that everything is getting in gear to welcome Keiichi and usher in a change that has the possibility in creating a miracle.

I can't wait till 19 and see Hanyuu make her official debut :spaz

She's only topped by Bazzet and Avenger who took over a thousand tries to collect the pieces of their puzzle and get the good end.

They only realized it wasn't Hanyuu after several copypasta's (involving Rika, kimchii, and alcohol) and by then it had already become a meme.

Honestly, when Higurashi was an AotM candidate, I was actually against it. I said that I'd rather let the series be "under the radar" in this forum. I ended up voting, but I never expected Higurashi to win.

With the new "villagers" entering and enjoying it, it was definitely a good thing that Higurashi became AotM, and I feel like doing "distinction" for what I said before. Or maybe I'll let someone else hit me with Satoshi's bat on the head.Honestly, you have every right to. Even I thought Higurashi could be more enjoyable as an underdog series. The thing I'm most concerned about is that most people aren't watching it for story, but for show. That kind of thing gives the series a bad stereotype and then it spreads. The stupid killer loli thing is a good example. Remember School Days? I bet the majority of viewers only watched it in hopes for the bloody ending. The story is cliché as it is.

Of course throughout the cons comes some pros, that being more people are more knowledgeable about it and won't see it the wrong way. It's a shame that people here aren't actually open to that sort of type, at least that's how I see it because well, this is a forum dedicated to a shounen series. I'll stop before I babble on (Babylon?). End transmission.

Are you talking about the third arc of the first season?

I may be wrong but I believe that Keiichi reached Level 5 and the entire night was all in his head.

Sakoto's uncle definitely did die in the 3rd arc. The others were simply giving Keiichi an alibi in case the police started suspecting him. After watching Meakashi-hen, it's heavily hinted that Keiichi actually called Shion on the night of the festival, and Shion told her sister about the murder. Then Mion, in order to hide all possible evidence of the murder, had Teppei's body moved elsewhere. This is based from the info given in Tsumoboroshi-hen.

Keiichi was probably already around level 3 after the murder, so he believed that he never killed Teppei. He was just too confused to realize everyone was making an alibi for him on the night of the festival.

Well, you sort of have to take in the infomation they give you in all the arcs, their similarites and piece them together. For example, after Watanagashi-hen, I suspected Shion was the one behind everything after she went a little batshit when she and Keiichi had their conversation at the beginning of Tatarigoroshi-hen.

That's how I got the idea that Keiichi actually called Shion even though she wasn't in the arc at all after watching Meakashi-hen. I don't know, it just so of comes together for me when I notice similarities between what happens. It's kinda hard to explain. Of course, there were also the fans that've already played the game. They sort of help confirm these suspicions. :laugh

Teppei doesn't kill her, the Sonozakis do. At the beginning of Kai 8 she's stealing money from them and gets caught. Remember the Sonozakis are the yakuza.

What did Teppei get arrested for? It was something that had nothing to do with abusing Satoko. I assumed people aquainted with Teppei killed her and the police finaly caught up with him.

Like I said, this is as much as I can assume with what the anime shows.

That explains why they were able to react so quickly. They may still suspect him for Rina's murder but they have no evidence. Satoko saying "Please save me" is only proof that she's being abused.

Teppei doesn't kill Rina. That's a fact.

what she meant was that the police were around him anyway because of the suspicion of the murder, they jumped in because of satoko

Actually, I watched it and sorta liked the cliché... mainly because I was never familiar with the love cliché, really. :sweat

That's how I got the idea that Keiichi actually called Shion even though she wasn't in the arc at all after watching Meakashi-hen. I don't know, it just so of comes together for me when I notice similarities between what happens. It's kinda hard to explain. Of course, there were also the fans that've already played the game. They sort of help confirm these suspicions. :laugh

Here's the history of this thread based from my point-of-view. Of course, I could be wrong...

Youko, Leon and Onna are the oldest active members in the village. They were present in the first season discussion. I came in months after the first season ended (it was yes, November of last year) and I settled in this village ever since.

I'm pretty sure that Aethos came after me (since I remember him going "WTF!?" at the episode 4-episode 5 transition and even asking me for some translations. :P), and Paul as well. There's also our local Rena Ryuuguu (who is a Rena cosplayer) who also joined the Higurashi FC I created months ago (it's buried now though).

And then when Kai started, Marth leaves "lurk mode" and becomes one of the most active villager, dishing out a lot of good stuff. There was also Strawberry Shorty, who was also active when Kai started, but she eventually became less active. And oh yes, Kira joined in too as well.

Lastly, the fiesta started, and we got new people entering the village.

In case I forgot names, my apologies.

Better yet, you can read all pages of this thread for the full history. Which I did, since when I joined, the thread only had 500 posts. :P

What was up with the maggots? Dose the Oyashiro virus evolve into maggots after a while once someone is infected with it?

How did Keiichi suddenly know about the parallel universes where he killed Rena and Mion?

Is there any explanation about the multiple instances where a certain character would be spotted in two different locations at once?
