I feel so bad for her, really. Considering what is happening to her in the series, and now, people don't really like her. :wtf

*casts vote for Satoko*

On another note, wow, Negima's Makie is still at it.

Anyway, is there a thread about the tournament somewhere? :oh

Gah all the Higurashi girls should win. T_T

After all Higurashi girls are the best girls. It's just too bad Rena's gonna lose to Kagami.

Well, a lot have been saying that Kagami's fate is to win the tournament.

But they don't know Keiichi Maebara and his thoughts about "fate"... :P

Although it is undeniable that LS has a relatively bigger fanbase than Higurashi... so Rena sure is in a pinch.

man if there was a lucky star girl in each bracket no Higurashi girl would make it out... heck no other girl would. The Lucky Star characters would always get the most votes.

Still I hope fate can be over turned. I'd love to see a Higurashi girl on top.

How about gathering people with our smooth talking and convince them to vote for Rena? :P

*imagines Rugged and Aethos in KOOL mode*

Considering that at most, we'll be left with two - namely Rena and either Rika or Mion, if they do face-off in the future, surely one of them will get watanagashi'd...

Nah, this is going overboard. I guess I've been replaying older episodes too much while waiting for the next one. :sweat

No we must go KOOL! It is unacceptable for us to let those Lucky Star girls hog all the glory. Oyashiro-sama would want us to make a Higurashi girl win!

Still hopefully Rika or Mion makes it if not Rena... and can get rid of Kagami for good.

You know those banners that some people are putting on their sigs to promote their favorite anime girl? I'm now planning on making one for Rena.

Seriously, I just can't help but to smirk when I go overboard like this for an anime character. :P

To be honest, my top pick for the tournament dropped out early (and she's not from this series). I'd rather let Rena avenge her defeat. :evil

I wonder if the people over at AS are thinking of the same thing like us. :nod

Well it's still the biggest spoiler in the entirety of the second season. After all this arc has answered a lot of questions already. The only thing that will be left to do in Matsuribayashi-hen is to catch ______ and that's it. There's not really any huge plot twists left or anything. By the time Matsuribayashi-hen starts the mystery has already been solved. The only thing left to do is to wait for the "and I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids" line.

Sounds like you haven't been spoiled as much as you think.

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

Matsuribayashi starts by explaining Takano (or should I say Tanashi)'s past. That past is very important and explains why she cares so much about Hinamizawa Syndrome. After that it goes through the 50 pieces, which explain the past. It explains: how all the past deaths occured and why; why Satoshi went missing; how Satoko's condition came to be; more about Rena's past; more about Hinamizawa Syndrome and Irie, Tomitake and Takano's involvement in it; why Takano wants to kill Rika and why Keiichi moved to Hinamizawa. Minagoroshi still has quite the few spoilers left too. The biggest one being a detailed explaination of Hinamizawa Syndrome. Right now you know very little about it; You don't even know its name.

Yes. If the future episode titles are correct. Minagoroshi will end on 13.

Another Saimoe update

Houjou Satoko@Higurashi no Naku Koro ni = 312

Wow, at least Satoko is not out of it. Although she'll be facing tougher competition in her block after this one.

Nope, no Haruhi characters in this year's Saimoe...
Good thing they didn't include SuzuHaru girls for this one or it would be a landslide victory for Ms Goddess and her cohorts. Which would terribly suck.

What are your other bets?

dspr8_rugged
09-12-2007, 09:29 AM
Well, my other bets are the girls from Negima and Kanon (Ayu and Mai specifically).

My primary bet was Negima's Chisame Hasegawa but considering that her character is pretty much low profile, she never made it past the first round. Not to mention that there are quite a few meganekko in the tournament.

Next to her is Rena. Although it really sucks that she's in the same block with Kagami. If not for that, Rena would easily breeze through the competition in her block and maybe last longer until tougher competition comes.

Matsuribayashi pieces. They fill in holes in the past. Like how all the past deaths occured and why. The pieces are what made me fall in love with Higurash's story. I was amazed and surprised at how everything fits together. It truly feels like Higurashi is one huge story split into 8 parts instead of making it up as they go along.

Gurren Lagann was never supposed to try anything new with its story, its entire plot is supposed to be a homage to the entire history of mecha from the 70s up until now.

And if you're asking how the hell I would know that, it's been officially stated in the production blog.

But enough of that off-topic stuff... back to discussion.

I wonder if they're going to keep the broccoli and cauliflower scene in-tact. The anime has totally ignored that part of Satoko's character; Satoko can't tell the difference between broccoli and cauliflower.

I also wonder if any of Matsuribayashi will be altered. There was a strong rumor that the anime would have an original ending. Apparently Ryukishi07 wasn't happy with the original Matsuribayashi ending, so he made Miotsukushi. The rumor disappeared when season two confirmed it would have Matsuribayashi but I still think there's a chance (albeit slim) that the ending will be changed. If so then it might be changed to what Miotsukushi had. Which would be a bitter-sweet ending instead of cheesy happy.

I would prefer that.

You mean they'll try to combine elements of Matsuribayashi-hen and Miotsukushi-hen?

MarthX7

How do you mean Ryukishi07 not happy with the ending?

Just that. I guess he wrote it then after it was released, he had second-thoughts. It would explain why Miotsukushi is touted as the true ending.

Hey there. I've pretty much decided to start on with this series after I finish watching a few things I am currently watching. I know this may have been asked before, but before I start watching Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Kai, I was wondering which fansub group I should get them from. Is there any preferences over another? Right now I have a torrent for 1-26 by Ayu, but I was wondering if WinD was any better? And for Kai, which group seems to be the best? Again, I'm sorry if this has been asked before.

Ayu has the DVD versions for most of the episodes while WinD doesn't. I prefer WinD's translations because Ayu changes unnecessary words like Oyashiro-sama to Shrine God.

Speaking of which. I'm sure everyone has figured it out by now, but it can't be a coincidence that the statue of Oyashiro-sama in the shrine is basically an adult Hanyuu.

... I always found that weird, because oyashiro doesn't mean "shrine god"... it means "shrine". Plus, in this case it's written in katakana, indicating that it's a proper noun, the name of a person or an object and not actually directly referring to a shrine. It's better to leave it untranslated in that kind of situation.

Anyway, I've also read about Miotsukushi-hen over Wiki and why Ryukishi07 mentions it as the "true ending".

Obviously, I don't have an idea what kind of ending Matsuribayashi-hen or Miotsukushi-hen has, but considering that the whole series has more negative feeling than positive, I would prefer seeing a "cheesy and happy ending" more than a "bittersweet" one.

Question, to those who have played Miotsukushi-hen, aside from the ending, is it majorly different from Matsuribayashi-hen? Yes or no answers only. :)

It's majorly different. In Miotsukushi-hen Hanyuu no longer exists. Not only that but Rika and Keiichi have to face the problems of Watanigashi/Maekashi-hen, Tsumihoroboshi-hen, and Tatarigoroshi-hen at the same time as well as bring down the true culprit.

Whereas in Matsuribayashi-hen they only have to bring down the main culprit.

As for the ending of Miotsukushi-hen

Keiichi is the one Hanyuu appears too and Keiichi is the one who creates the miracle and defeats the main culprit not Rika. Which is totally Kool Keiichi badass.

Simply put it, I only asked a "yes or no" question, but you dished out quite a handful of info.

Anyway, we wouldn't know what Ryukishi07 has told DEEN with regards to the final arc, whether it would be a direct adaptation of Matsuribayashi-hen or maybe a mish-mash of that arc and Miotsukushi-hen. In any case, as long as we get closure to this series, it's all good. :nod

According to the latest episode, Rika says the worse possible outcome would be if Keiichi never transferred which she mentions has happened two or three times before. Now that sounds a little bit like the summary for Saikoroshi-hen only with a bit more changes. I've always wanted to see Saikoroshi-hen animated so if Deen does that, I'll be happy.

With every torrent it takes a good three hours and depending on the speeds direct downloading can take one to two to even three hours as well. It's just easier to watch them on veoh. Besides if I were keeping them it'd be a different story but I'm not so... Doesn't really matter to me as long as I see the episode somewhere.

For the most part, Season 1 is composed of "question arcs" - arcs that build the mystery of the series (which contains the "I know you're lying" thing you say).

The last two arcs of the Season 1 and the last two arcs of the Season 2 are the "answer/solution arcs", which will explain some of the mysteries in the question arcs. Although DEEN screwed up in some parts, Season 2 will aim to solve everything.

You know I wish they could have just made Higurashi one whole series instead of just splitting it into two seasons. That way they could have taken their time on season one and it would have come out a lot better in the long run.

Though I still think Season 1 was awesome. I just mean that maybe people would have seen it lless of a horror series and more of a mystery series.

- Some people may avoid it because it's over 26 episodes (higher numbers scare them)

9.9 Kth post!

If it was all into one I'm not sure how that would turn out. Art may be choppy like first season. I'd say what Studio Deen should've done is have the first season all the question arcs and no solution arcs. That's what Kai would be for.

Man I wish some of the school rumble girls were on that poll. I'd so vote for Eri and Yakumo if they were on there.

Eri is in this year's saimoe. She's in the last division/bracket. I'm pretty sure she'll get through pretty high since she was in the quarter semi-finals last year.

It's interesting how Shion is the only Higurashi girl that didn't make it to the second round.

In terms of power for the Higurashi girls, it seems to be Rena > Rika = Mion > Shion = Takano = Satoko. Satoko and Takano were up against weak opponents. They will most likely fall in the next round.

Those aren't "harem" anime per say. That's not really the genre of it. Higurashi has plenty of female characters and one main guy but that doesn't make it a harem anime.

BTW, HnG is Hayate no Gotoku! (aka Hayate the Combat Butler)

And Youko's pretty accurate in saying the Higurashi girls don't stand a chance against Hayate and LS, those 2 are insanely popular in Japan right now.

It sucks that Shion was out of it early. Well, I think DEEN had a hand in this as they made Shion very "un-moe" in the first season with her facial distortions... :P

And I also do think that Satoko and Takano won't last that long. Satoko is not annoyingly cute, she just annoying, period. Takano, as I said, had one moe moment and I believe that it won't happen again.

They should have included Chie-sensei in there. Fans of Tsukihime would get her vote. :P

It all really depends on who they're up against. I'd say Rika and Mion will last the longest simply because they're put in a better bracket than the other Higurashi girls.

Rena's already getting it bad in her next round placed against Shiori. Even though she recieved less votes than Rena, you have to take into account how well Shiori did against the other characters in her division. Shiori got 986 votes, but the other two girls in her division recieved a lot more votes than the two girls in Rena's division. Either way, if Rena gets into the 3rd round, there's no way she's going to beat Kagami. :(

Doubtful. Lucky Star appeals to more people. You just sit back and relax. Higurashi is more of an acquired taste. To really enjoy it you have to enjoy a good mystery, which means you have to pay close attention to detail. There's also the fact that Higurashi is dark and violent; A lot of people refuse to watch anything dark.

Oh yes, I'm a CrunchyRoll-er too. I actually watch anime there first, then if I like it, I download a higher quality version (of course, not in that site).

Well, I don't exactly agree on the quality, since I find YouTube's quality better. The only thing that CR does it better than YouTube is that you can make the resolution larger. Not to forget that CR only deletes anime when it's licensed. Unlike YouTube which has started tracking down anime uploaders.

It's not just anime, but you can also find tokusatsu series in that site too!

Thank God for Shinji and CrunchyRoll. :whoo

As for Kai, I watch it once there and then download Hauu~'s or WinD's version when they come out. Usually, Philanthropy's subs come out first.

Now that you mention it, yeah, it's a pity that Hanyuu didn't make it. She would have a chance, at least.

I now imagine her and Kanon's Ayu duke it out. People will now have to choose which is the more moe expression - "Auauau~" or "Uguu~". :amuse

YouTube videos screw up the resolution. That's why I said it has better quality.

Anitube (http://anitube.blogspot.com/) is nice too. Their quality is just as good as Veoh and it's easy to find what you want. Downside, they only upload a few series and it takes them several days to upload the newest episode. I use it for Gurren Lagann since CR won't add new episodes since it's licensed.

Her mistake has been revealed since she confirmed that the autopsy could prove that she is the mastermind. I wonder if Rika will know it before dying, this is the only key to escape her fate and to take down Takano and co.

For fun I'll list everything that pointed to ____ being the culprit

Watanagashi: Ooishi tells Keiichi Takano was reported dead before they entered the storage.

Tatarigoroshi: When Takano meets Keiichi she says her trunk is full.

Tatarigoroshi: Keiichi sees a bike in the back, the frame is blue. If you go back to an earlier episode, you see Tomitake's bike has the blue frame and Takano's is yellow.

Tatarigoroshi: Takano repeatedly tells Keiichi "we did not meet tonight. It's better for the both of us, no?" she then gets angry when Keiichi asks why.

Tsumihoroboshi: The scrap book Takano gave Rena was just one of many. All having different ridiculous stories. She also gave a scrap book to Shion in Meakashi.

Reunion (Tsumihoroboshi's epilogue) Akasaka says that Takano predicted the gas disaster. It was written in document 34 that she gave to Rena.

Yakusamashi: Yamainu killed Rika

Minagoroshi: Tomitake, Irie and Takano are working together. All three "die" in most arcs. Out of the three the only body that can't truly be identified is Takano's because it's always burned so badly it requires dental records.

Minagoroshi: Takano is the one that makes the call to see if Yamainu can eliminate Teppei.

That's all I found. I wonder if I missed any. I didn't include TIPS because it wasn't part of the anime.

Then she called Mion and Irie, to make sure he's okay. I'm sure Rena mentioned how weird Keiichi's been acting to Irie, so at that point he knew Keiichi was suffering HS. When Keiichi escapes after beating Mion and Rena to death, they chase after him because he needs treatment.

That's the best theory I can come up with.

Also did you notice how in Tatarigoroshi-hen Irie knew Keiichi was suffering L5 and how he was the "satoshi" of that arc? Could that be pointing to Irie knows something about Satoshi?

That's a good observation. Matsuribayashi should answer that. But I wouldn't say Keiichi was suffering from L5, otherwise he would have clawed his throat out. He was probably at L3 or 4.

You've got to remember, the men in gray don't follow Irie. They were clearly trying to aid the culprit in feeding his paranoia-chasing after him, knocking him out, trying to run him over, etc.

However...

spoilers on the TIPS

There's a tip that shows Satoshi acting just like Keiichi did during Tatarigoroshi-hen after he murdered his aunt. So I would think Irie would recognize Keiichi's symptoms as well and relate them to Satoshi.

Correction: Umineko and Higurashi are considered to be part of the same franchise, though they have completely different settings and characters.

Updated chart for Saimoe since round 2 will soon begin.

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5374/round2indexkr0.png

Rena is going to have a tough match with Shiori but she could win. Be sure to give her lots of support, she's going to need it.

Fate and Suigintou will crush Satoko. She doesn't stand a chance. Any votes you give Satoko will be pity votes.

I don't see Mion losing against Ayane but then again I know nothing about her show or how popular it is. Must be somewhat popular to have 659 votes. Just to be safe, give Mion your support.

Rika shouldn't have a problem.

If 503 is the best Takano can do then she's going to get stomped by Eri. I wonder if less people will vote for her after seeing 11. I'll still be voting for her though.

*points up*

That's new to me, at least. Yup, the parodies and whatnot to Naraku no Hana are still ongoing. :nod

When I read about Umineko no Naku Koro ni, I couldn't help but think about that Haruhi episode...
Oh yes, exactly. The damn thing is exactly set like SuzuHaru's "Lone Island Syndrome" episode. Although this time, the deaths are for real.

With regards to Episode 11, suffice to say, I wasn't surprised with the revelation of the mastermind. I mean, who was?
For fun I'll list everything that pointed to ____ being the culprit

Tatarigoroshi: When Takano meets Keiichi she says her trunk is full.

Tatarigoroshi: Keiichi sees a bike in the back, the frame is blue. If you go back to an earlier episode, you see Tomitake's bike has the blue frame and Takano's is yellow.

Tatarigoroshi: Takano repeatedly tells Keiichi "we did not meet tonight. It's better for the both of us, no?" she then gets angry when Keiichi asks why.
These three ones raised my suspicions that that person had something to do with it. Especially the second item... which would now make sense on what really happened after watching the latest episode.

Minagoroshi: Tomitake, Irie and Takano are working together. All three "die" in most arcs. Out of the three the only body that can't truly be identified is Takano's because it's always burned so badly it requires dental records.
Anyone who has seen Prison Break can attest to that, right Youko? :nod

Hopefully, after a few days or so, we can avoid spoilers all together and openly say who the mastermind is. I mean, after this episode, it won't be a surprise anymore.

Nah, I have to agree with Marth. That's the reason Ryukishi07 created Umineko. If not for that, he would still be thinking of another arc for Higurashi.

We're just in despair like Rika is if there would be another arc. I mean, if there would still be another arc, we have to see everything happening ALL OVER again.

MarthX7

From what I've read, people seem split on Kai.

Some think it's better because it doesn't have "gimmicky" horror scenes and actually provides answers. While some think it's worse because it's no longer creepy and there's less bloodshed.

dspr8_rugged
09-17-2007, 09:05 AM
Yeah, again, that's also true.

It sucks that those people who are watching this for the scares, the violence and gore are not watching Kai as they want to see more "killer lolis, crazy facial distortions and more blood". Not to mention that some of them don't like Kai's "slow pace".

If you have time and try to read the first 500 posts of this thread, you'll see how a lot of people have enjoyed the series for that matter. Where are those people who used to be active? I wouldn't know. Only Youko, Leon and Onna are the ones that remain active from last year's season.

MarthX7
09-17-2007, 09:14 AM
I've already read all the earlier pages. It is weird how most of those people disappeared.

Maybe they don't know S2 started? Unless you're really familiar with the title, you may not notice "Kai" being different.

Maybe they're waiting for it to end so they can marathon it?

Maybe they're too busy with other shows and will watch it later?

Maybe I need to grab a baseball bat and crush their skulls in.

dspr8_rugged
09-17-2007, 09:19 AM
We all know that in the Higurashi-verse, "disappearing" is definitely a weird occurrence. :P

For crying out loud, this thread has always been on the first page of the Konoha TV Channel 12 section ever since the season started. It's impossible for those people to miss it. Unless they "transferred out" to another forum or they could have been Onikakushi'd for real. :lmao
