I joined here because Yuri and Maile said they will lock me in the box again if I didn't, sometimes it gets very hot in the box. I was hoping to make some friends by joining here and get invited to the christmas party this time around, they always leave me out of fun stuff. Sometimes, when Chouji is eating chips on screen I'm eating them while in the studio, helps get me in character and the noises I make with the bag of chips are usually caught by the microphone and gets put on the video.

Yes actually I've always been a huge fan of anime especially the Naruto series and I was siked to be asked to do the voice for one of my favorite characters. I'm currently on the latest chapter of the Naruto manga (304) but I'm not totally caught up with the anime seeing as how I'm not a big fan of fillers. Other animes I enjoy are Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven, Bleach (glad its coming to the US), One Piece(one of my all time favorite anime/mangas), Karas, Kamichu Evangelion... the list goes on!

You are officially one of the cooler of the VAs. Many of the other VAs on the forums say they're schedule is too busy to see what's in store for their character in the subs. You haven't only watched the subs, but you've obviously been a Naruto fan before it even came to North America. Way to go, and welcome. Loving the voice, now that it's not all "Why don't you lead us to some barbeque, Ino?" (Funny line, though)

Well as I stated before I was always a big fan of Naruto and Chouji is one of my favorite characters. When I see the finished product with my voice laced over choujis appearance I think its fair to say I always get excited seeing it, although I can't help but pick out a few minor faults I should work on.

Whenever Chouji is eating chips while I'm doing his voice I like to be eating chips at the same time, so sometimes the bag crumble and chip eating sounds are caught while I'm in the studio and they get put in, or usually the chips sounds from the japanese version are isolated and used for the english version.

I'll be happy to answer any further quesitons for fellow Dub supporters and fans :)

Robbie, I gotta be honest. I was good with the voices of the other VAs, but Chouji's voice just rubbed me the wrong way at first. It has been sounding better in recent episodes, but I think it might be better if it was a little deeper. Y'know, just a bit of advice.

Oh yeah, and hello.

Edit: The first line that sounded like a school yard bully in episode 3 is forgiven because you are a One Piece fan and hate the dub. How far are you? And don't worry about spoilers (seeing as how many people who are Naruto dub exclusive may also be OP dub exclusive) because they probably won't see half of the show anyway.

I did think it sounded kinda grating and obnoxious, but when I thought about it, it really didn't sound much different than the tone the Japanese VA uses. Welcome! Wow, this forum has gotten really popular among the Naruto cast as of late! While I will admit that your Chouji doesn't sit quite well with me just yet, I will also say that it has gotten better. I think that as time passes, you'll get it just right.

It's also different to see a VO that was actually a fan of Naruto beforehand. It must be very exciting to work on a series that you already watched/read beforehand.

To be honest folks I didn't really like the way Chouji sounded the first few times, but the studio usually brushes off Chouji as a "minor character" so I usually have to work on the voice at my home studio and record my voice through there and do experiments there. But I want everyone here to know that I really try and put my all in doing one of my favorite characters voices and that I don't just think of doing his voice as another paycheck. I'm very dedicated to my VO job.

I did find the line in epsiode 3 a bit annoying sounding, but as the screentime gets longer it just gets better and better. Well to be honest theres not much of a difference really, except that over the years I've been becoming a bigger fan of anime then american toons, so I find that voicing characters in anime is more enjoyable to me. Though sometimes voicing anime can be a bit harder because sometimes the studio has some translation issues and retakes will go on and on, but I love what I do.

yes actually I voiced roles in Zatch(Gash) Bell as Eido and I voiced roles in Initial D. as Iggy. Granted its not a big list but I'm trying to expand on that :thumbs also I played voiced Maroda in Final Fantasy X-2, not really an anime but an RPG which is the next best thing to anime :laugh

Yeah, I'm an anime-only person, with exception of FMA, because of the split. I watch the One Piece subs (which is difficult, because the speed subbers lost their translator, and I'm trying to find them a new one) and Bleach subs (fillers are a lot better than the Naruto ones). But oh well, at least I saw the FMA movie. It's all kinds of messed up. I'm still trying to figure out a few things.

I'm also a bit dissappointed with the end too. But, :woo the movie tie things up with the anime quite satisfying if not total awesomeness, I think. :laugh Although shouldn't expect much and some questions best left unask cause you'll get no answer. xD

Anyway, questions for you. Chouji is a food lover and he LOVE to eat. Do you also share this traits with the character too? :sweat And Chouji seem to be the person that like to eat at Buffet rather than resturant because Buffet mean All-You-Can-Eat. Lol. Which place do you like to eat at most? Buffet or Resturant?

You really did a great job voicing Chouji, his voice and Orochimaru's voice is the hardest to voice in my opinion. But for the Japanese seiyuu of Chouji, his voice was originally like that, so its easy, huh.

Chouji is improving. The first time he spoke I was shocked and dissapointed. But now he's a lot better.

You're great as Eido on Zatch Bell and it was fun to hear you as Iggy (his Japanese name escapes me) on Initial D but the role I know you for best (and my favorite by far) is Michelangelo on TMNT. If they ever cast a TMNT series in LA be sure to audition for Mikey because Eido's voice shows you've still got the surfer voice down pact.

Props to you for liking One Piece. It's my favorite anime. Unfortunately the dub is awful because of 4kids (though oddly enough their TMNT series is fantastic).

Yes actually I've always been a huge fan of anime especially the Naruto series and I was siked to be asked to do the voice for one of my favorite characters. I'm currently on the latest chapter of the Naruto manga (304) but I'm not totally caught up with the anime seeing as how I'm not a big fan of fillers. Other animes I enjoy are Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven, Bleach (glad its coming to the US), One Piece(one of my all time favorite anime/mangas), Karas, Kamichu Evangelion... the list goes on!

hmm....so you've read just about all the mangas and seen the episodes up to somewhere where the fillers started (130-something?) and we are on episode what, 192? We're still gettin' fillers.

Glad to see that an English seiyuu is caught up on the series he's voicing. Better than what most people can say. Most English VA's have only seen one or two episodes ahead of what is currently airing, and only read the manga. Hopefully the fillers will end soon. Although I still watch them, as sometimes they are funny.

Is it just me or has Chouji's voice gotten softer? Initially it was hard and sounded gruff but not anymore.

I laughed when Chouji was all panicked about fighting either Lee or Gaara. And then yelled at the top of his lungs about all you can eat barbeque. I just love how you do his voice! Admittedly he dosen't say too much. But in those small moments when he has more than one line of speech I appreciate your efforts.

I watch both subtitles and Dubs. And Choji's sound is a bid dat different. In dubs, his sounds a bit mature. But in subs, he sounds just like he rest of the genins. Soft, almost-high pitched (kid style), and furiosity. But it's good, Robbie.

BTW, in the first post you said that you join here because if you don't, you get locked on a BOX?!?!?! BY MAILE?! AND YURIE?! Sure goodness your life is sucks. And I just love that chip-eating voice. (I like Lays. So I watch Naruto while eating them. :P)

In the more recent episodes on Cartoon Network I recently heard Chouji's voice again and I have to say that when I heard him I collapsed in my bed in a fit of giggles.

Yes actually I've always been a huge fan of anime especially the Naruto series and I was siked to be asked to do the voice for one of my favorite characters. I'm currently on the latest chapter of the Naruto manga (304) but I'm not totally caught up with the anime seeing as how I'm not a big fan of fillers. Other animes I enjoy are Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven, Bleach (glad its coming to the US), One Piece(one of my all time favorite anime/mangas), Karas, Kamichu Evangelion... the list goes on!

wow.....i never really imagined VO's being big anime fans lol i love bleach, i recommend deathnote and gundam 00 to any really big anime fans. i watch the dub when i can, i have been mad about how they butcher all the openings :( anyway im looking forward to hearing after the time skip.
