I have it as well! I love it!
Did you know that the American film The Magnificent Seven is a remake of that.
Its very cool how they changed the samurai into cowboys.
If you love this series, I suggest you watch the movie and the American remake.
Both very good films! XD

I had a copy of it from a friend burned on CD. It was an okay movie. I think itd be a good idea to watch it on DVD or something with better quality. I think I was somewhat bored with it though.

yeah i own the movie also, the old samurai movies have been re-done alot by the old cowboy movies, clint eastwood is basically america's toshiro mifune
it was an amazing movie for me, especially on vcr, the crappy quality made it an even better experience for me, this movie paved the way for so many movies ranging from the late 80's till today, akira kurosawa is a huge figure for any director and seven samurai was just amazing to me
I bought it on DVD as soon as it came out in Australia. top movie i rekon, and wen i found out that a samurai 7 anime of it was coming out i went crazy.
i havent seen it, but i want to. my friends planning to download it so maybe i'll watch it there

Oh yea, and kind of like havoc mentioned Clint Eastwood, Akira's "Yojimbo" was remade into "Fistful of Dollars" (without permission in fact, causing a lawsuit I think).
The Seven Samurai is one of the great films of all time. If you like the anime (which I do), there's no question you should watch the movie which is so much better if for no other reason than they are not fighting robots.

Akira Kurosawa was a superb director. You should really see his other films like The Samurai 1,2,3 based on best selling (in japan) novel Musashi. I first say The Samurai and liked it so much that I bought the book and searched for other movies by Akira. Eventually watched The Seven Samurai. If you love the whole feudal japan/samurai theme movies, Akira is the man. Watching them in black and white kind of adds to the authentic portrayal of that time frame that his movies depict.
