I am Kristina of the far, far away seas. GFXing has been a part of my life for quite a while--say or so... five to six years--yet it demostratively does not show. ROFL So sad. I started when I was a wee laddy--girl. When I moved away from my family, I had nothing over here. I was getting a new identity and I relinquished my hatred by starting up Photoshop. First bought Elements and moved my way to CS. My beginning days began fun fullfilled but the more I developed--I just wanted to pwn Photoshop. Get a kickass out of it. And, well, here I am now.

Durr, I was thinking about that, but the guy requesting it ( Arky, one of the old gfx masters here, my ex bf and the one that taught me basic gfx) dislikes my ornamental style XDDD So yeah, kept it basic. And after working 2 hours on getting the damn vector gradients *reason i prefer black/white*right I couldnt be arsed to prettyfy it.

Well, my name's Mário and been in gfx for some time now (not really sure because there were some interruptions), I mainly do sigs and instead of start doing LPs like most people do, I'm trying to enter the webdesign and logo design field...
I'm currently studying in the university, however it has nothing to do with graphics so I'm thinking of entering a webdesign school in my spare time, this year I didn't have any so I think in 2006/2007 will be my year for gfx. :p

Brushing is just a whip in the wrist like conducting an orchestra, you know? Or splashing paint balls on a naked canvas, though vectoring is special because not everyone can do it. They want to but they somehow can't. Like you said, if people can't work at one thing--they find one that's near to it.

Unless your brush use is invisible, it's definitely not visible to the naked eye. I also have never seen you use textures.

I use brushes in a quite weird way. Most my brushes I use are not the usual chaotic/gruge sets you find, and with that said, I hardly use them that much to have them noticable.

I kinda carried these methods over to my latests ones now, always look back at old tags and see what I can pinch up and improve on etc :nod

Well actually I loved art in highschool, was like my favourite subject.I made only one sculpture in highschool. So after highschool i wanted to go to artschool, but everyone was objecting, parents, family, teachers... So I kinda dropped the idea and did other stuff. I only started sculpting again since..maybe a 2 months ago. I forgot how much I loved it... I can easily work 10 hours non stop on it. So now I'm gonna try to get through the exams with just the 3/4 sculptures in progress and hope they're enough. Else I'll just try and get into the computer art section xD

In my current tag I used both but you may barely see the textures. I didn't want it to look like my texture whoring days... Made it invisible by the renders and brushes.

Well what I did with the stock was dupplicated the stock and placed some kind of blur mode on it and set it as one of the blending modes, the stock is moving in <-- direction so it prolly helps the overall flow of that movement?

I think that GFXers get influenced by others but they don't acknowledge it or give any sign of credit. I utterly despise those because everyone else can see they were and let them be. Maybe they do not deserve a slap in the face but I'd be damned if they never have while they been doing it for a long time. Mostly likely I'd be the one to do it. XDDD

Your latest; is great love the blending of the stock and the overall appeal, colours seem slighty off, and seems abit grainy at some areas. Really digging the bg n' the renders you used, but the text is abit bland. Gj overall.

Well that's a lens flare and some color dodge brushing for the lightning... However the sig looked too flat because I was avoiding oversaturation so I tried to spicen it up...

the text is easy, just picked a color that fitted the bg and put the text in the direction of the flow, then just soft brush erased the end of mephisto...

V2's abit too high on the levels and sharpness, but is more stunning compared to V1, I say between V1 and V2, losen the sharpeness and darkness a little on V2 and your good to go.

the text is easy, just picked a color that fitted the bg and put the text in the direction of the flow, then just soft brush erased the end of mephisto...

I am Kristina of the far, far away seas. GFXing has been a part of my life for quite a while--say or so... five to six years--yet it demostratively does not show. ROFL So sad. I started when I was a wee laddy--girl. When I moved away from my family, I had nothing over here. I was getting a new identity and I relinquished my hatred by starting up Photoshop. First bought Elements and moved my way to CS. My beginning days began fun fullfilled but the more I developed--I just wanted to pwn Photoshop. Get a kickass out of it. And, well, here I am now.

Not really, even with a LQ stock, you can still manage to make a good tag, and vice versa. Having said that, it's obviously alot easier to work with a HQ stock.

My alias is Bandito. I live in Cape Town. I like mecha anime. Macross is no. 1, all others are no. 2 or lower. I did art in school, but the teacher wasn't helpful at all. I used to learn the finer skills of drawing with my friend by copying the pics in gaming magazines. I am an avid gamer (everything except first-person shooters).

I've been doing gfx for just under a year now. I've been using Elements up until a few weeks ago when I aquired CS. I'm still trying to get the hang of it. My infant PB album:

Uhm..well I'm off to class...I got a busy day today and tomorrow. today I have class from 11-2pm then from there I gotta go straight to pick up my mom from her workplace, then come home get into gym clothes go to the gym; workout for an hr(i'm really overweight). and then tomorrow it's about the same cept I get out of class at 1pm so it's 9am-1pm for class..wait about an hour at home then pick up my mom as usual..go to the gym and my dad signed me up for this "fitness assessment" thing..where they check all the body stuff, and gotta workout. I'm just freakin' out 'cause I don't like doing exercises I can't do in front of other people..and there's a lot of people that come to this gym. and if it's anything like i've seen other people doing with their personal trainers I am definetely uneasy about that. Luckily it's only for 3days so. This Weds, this friday and then on Monday. I"m a big guy, but I'm really weak in terms of lifting weights or even my body(i.e. situps, or pushups) and I don't like making a fool out of myself trying stuff I'm not strong enough for.

I don't like the size..and changing logan's color scheme to match your bg would make it better. I like the slash effects you got in there. like i said stock color scheme and size is about all I don't like in it. both are easy changes imo.

Nice stuff blackluster. I like your drawings...seems like a lot of the your sigs have this graffiti(sp) style text on it. Not sure what they say though or if they say anything at all. Do you do requests for drawings? If so I got one.

@Maho: the preview looks really cool, but it looks weird in the hair on the left. The lower strands seem to come from the long top one. perhaps parts of the lower ones could pop up above the long top one, unless that overall shape is what you were going for.
@Mura: the EE colab looks nice. I especially like the crop of the stock. The bg seems too sharp compared to the stock though.
@Wildfire: I like the wolverine sig as is. Perhaps the bg colours could be a bit more saturated to match the stock. Otherwise, nice work.

Don't like main typo (Erica ...) and the stock seems like it's placed there in the bg with no adjustment. While the idea of using multiple stocks can add more "flavour" to the sig, I'm not feeling the way your doing it; it seems like your just cutting>pasting the multiple stocks, adding a white stroke and call it a day :(
I'd reccomend with the multi stocks to play with the saturation - colour scheme and maybe and some brushing/and what not to make it more fitting.

@GhosT: The Erika sig is really nice, especially the idea for the in sets. I would favour v2 out of the set you posted. The colours and blending look great.
@Wildfire: awsome spidey sig. Ditto what the others said about the border. The writing could be slightly smaller to.
@Lingz: I agree with Murasaki, the bg should have maybe been lighter. The effects over the stock extending into the bg might look cool.

I built the PC i'm on now so I knew to get more than enough. I'll post specs now so you can hate me haha.

Processor : AMD 64 3500+ 2.2ghz(a lot faster than 2.2 is though)
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 6800GT 256mb
Hard drives: 1 200Gig Sata hard drive, and 1 250Gig Hard drive
DVD-burner(highest around at the time, which was around july of last year)
Memory:...... 2Gigs have room to expand to 4..if I should ever want to.

yeah that's not bad at all, What I would suggest Lingz..is check some stuff I can help with the upgrade..'cause i got some exp. outta doing it myself especially in the research process.

I dunno how much memory each of those uses...but check your task manager if you do run both at the same time. you know just do Ctrl+Alt+del and then go to processes and you can see how much memory...So I suggest doing that to see if that's the problem, 'cause your processor is good enough.

I know I "got" my copy of PS and for some reason that copy was messed up so I got another one and that works better...but I would be working on a piece and then all of a sudden it would close and I was left swearing up a storm.

I think most 3d programs like C4D will take alot of memory..so check that more so.

@Lingz..tell me if that shows if your using too much memory..and if PS only closes suddenly when you have both running or is it just when PS is running? if it's just PS running then likely some bug on your PC..or you can always reinstall it and see, but save all your custom brushes you have made or downloaded and try to remember anything else you might have saved that you could save that's associated with the program(how colors are or what not) and make sure to write those down..'cause like reformatting your harddrive downloading and remembering what you had previously can be a pain in the ass w/o writing stuff down.

Thanks alot for the tip Neo, well it seems like when I open both PS and C4D, C4D would take more resources when it's rendering something deadly. But I normally don't open them at the same time since I produce renders and then throw them in PS, so I think it dosent matter, but yeah, they key is to keep saving ever so often, anyhow, thanks for the help :)

@Ghost, maybe change the style abit, I think it's okay but dosent give a "wow" factor.

@lingz sorry it didn't help..I think if it suddenly closes and your memory is good enough it should be able to handle PS easy. I would seriously get a full scan going of a virus or worm...no reason it should suddenly close...unless you got a "not responding" message, which is totally a cpu issue most times.

1) Length of time - It varies too much to say. Depends on inspiration and difficulty level
2) Techniques - I use the same techniques unless I see a cool trick in a tut or something...
3) While gfx - Listen to music and consume something...
4) Worst type of sigs - texture layers and blending. I've never really given them a good go...

@GhosT: the x-men collection looks really good. Clean, simple, easy on the eyes. The last two look a bit better because the insets aren't in a straight-forward rectangular shape.

@Neo: the transparent is really good except for the cut-off parts. Also, it would have been nice if you had put donw a few more of those clear bubbles, they go well with the sig.

@Wildfire: That looks pretty good. The colour of his hair and the bg clash a bit though. Also the edges of the stock (especially on his flight suit) looks quite pixelated, couldn't you maybe hide it with a blended and blurred duplicate layer over it? Pen tool touch-up may be a good idea instead...

Depends really. Most sigs take like..3 hours for the vector and another 1 0r 2 for creating a sig around it.

Usyally yes. Well okay not really. I try out other techniques and combine them sometimes.

Listen to music and chat on msn * which explains my usual delay in finishing sigs*

Brushing and finding the right font to use. x_X

@ blackluster, ghost---yeah it was my first one..I saw this crazy good faye valentine transparent sig by shinryu(sp) anyways he made great ones.

@lingz...lol MAYA!, she's so freakin' hot. Me and my friend thought they should make a 2nd season 'cause the show was like half flashbacks of the characters past(mostly the natsume and presidents' family) I think they should've left that too the OVAs , but they didn't. and the ova's didn't finish the series either..they just got to the tournament and it was done. it was such a great show, but they didn't end it well..I hope they make a season 2.

Lol, yeah, the show started off great (except from the overdose of ecchi) but it went downhill 'cos the flashbacks killed it. The OVA's were just like leading to the tounament, but the main. char like turned into some dragonball transformation or somthing o.o
Anyway, yeah, it's a fairly good show, but theirs much better anime out there.

@WF, not bad, the vectored shapes make the sig. look interesting, but not feeling the messy renders or the colour scheme.

Some of the girls simply reckon porn is an insult to them and they refuse to watch it. These girls seemingly do not believe in sex before love thus porn, to them is a despicable action. Having said that, there's always other problems aswel.
