If you're talking about the newer, bigger Optimus Prime that's not the size of an ordinary fire truck then the Megazord would lose.

If both fighters are at their peak. I'd still have to go with Octimus, with the exception of Time force, and Mystic force (hasn't watched them), I haven't noticed anyone worth taking down Octimus, when it really counts.

Prime in R.I.D. I believe could deal some hefty damage, then there are always Minicons and whatnot to power him up, Ultra Magnus, etc.

Although, if there were Power Rangers inside the Megazord, Prime would've been badly fucked up, and even if he managed to win, the Ranger would just get a better Megazord and beat him. If they can hit him, that is.

Prime wins hands down. I'm not a PR fan but every Megazord I've ever seen has been slow and cumbersome and quite blatantly a man in a rubber suit. Where as every incarnation of Prime has kicked serious ass. Look at the way he fights Megatron in the movie after whupping the whole Decepticon army and the way he fights him at the end of Armada. He pwns Devastator too in the DW comics. Trust me, Prime is faster and smarter, all he needs to do is get one shot at the Megazord's head and it's game over.

Prime would win.

He's much more mobile and his attacks are just as damaging, plus, he's harder to hit. Also, every time the Zord was hit with a damaging attack they would show an interior shot of the piloting area of the Zord and you would see the Rangers jumping backwards as if they, themselves, were shot. If Prime continually fired during this brief pause then he would quickly dispose of the MegaZord without a scratch. Prime is, after all, a robot, whereas Megazord is handicapped by its need of pilots.

The "1 hit kill sword attack" was only used after the monster was already on the verge of death.

Read the damn UK/US comics of Transformers not the piece of crap that is the cartoons. In the comics, NO ONE rescues Optimus Prime more times than Grimlock. He has also saved the Autobots endless times in the comics. He has also proven himself to be one of the smarter characters and a brutally effective leader in both G1, G2 and when the TFs were originally on Cybertron

In the Dreamwave continuity, he was arguably the single strongest Transformer. He in a weakened state was riding a supercharged Shockwave and Blitzwing at the same time

Just to give you an idea of how strong a powered up Shockwave is, in the same story arc, the same Shockwave rapes the crap out of Ultra Magnus, Megatron and Optimus (all at different times) with either one blast or one punch.

In the original war on Cybertron, just after Sentinel Prime died and Optimus was pouting like a little bitch, Grimlock was the only reason the Autobots were slaughtered by the Decipticons. Also he could have easily killed Optimus Prime at a opportunity but being the extremely awesome baddass he is, he gives Prime a lecture why he needs to be the leader for the Bots


So the morale of this story is to never refer to the anime/show when there is a printed version. Most of the time

See that's the problem with looking at the cartoon. They weren't allowed to hit anything because they had toys to sell. Bumblebee wouldn't be quite as popular if Starscream shot him to death in the first episode etc etc. Watch the movie and observe how Prime rapes every Decepticon in sight then whups Megatron barehanded before Hot Rod gets in the goddamn way.
