Why do you think square soft/enix didn't stay with Nintendo?

At the time on N64 and playstation came around PS1 seemed to be better built for RPGS. I was watching ICON a show on G4 and they were saying how Nintendo agreed that N64 wasn't built for RPG of that structure or somthing so they went to Sony. Plus now Nintendo is getting some FF in there, GBA has the first 6? *I donno* And Gamecube has one title. So yeah it hasn't left, just went to sony for awhile and now it shares between them.

back in the n64 days square did want to work with nintendo and stay with them but square wanted to jump on the band waggon of FMV's to do this they could not do it on N64 carts ( at the time now you can) and carts back then where expensive so they went with sony where the CD format could do that and they stayed with them.

why do you see FF's on nitendo systems now? well it is easier to develop on nintendo systems now and also because of the new president the old one held a grudge against square and what they did ( even though the old preisdent was partially at fault) and the new president let squre come back to make games for nintendo.

When GC came out square really wanted to start making games for it at launch but could not because of the old president until he retired ( 5 or 6 months into gamecubes life) the new president welcomed them back and we got FF CC and FFTA..

and for gameboy we been getting FF 1 +2, 4, and 5 and 6. and FF 3 ( from japan) remake for DS

for revo we are getting an online verison of FF CC and alot of other square titles for both Revo and DS.

DS has 5 to 7 square titles in the making and i am very happy :) 3 of those titles are acculy out on DS right now ( in japan of course :cry they are coming over this year though )

Maybe the money is the easy answer to that. In any case Square has not abandon Nintendo totally. They make quite good games.

Its not a matter of sony being better, its just that cd were easier then carts, they wanted to stick with nintendo, and now they are going to nintendo more and more

Sony is not better, they just used CD instead of carts which at THAT time was the only thing possible for FMV's but now you can put them on carts, Heck if nintendo used cd's and sony used carts then square would of never left. Stop being a annoying fanboy that thinks sony is the best thing ever

i can debate against that.. alot of developers complained that the Sony PS1 was harder to develop for than N64 but the cost of the Carts was more than CD's but they where just limited to storage size.. Square needed something that could hold more than 64 meg ( witch was the biggest cart back then) so they went to sony .. Would have been sega but square did not like sega much during the SNES/NES days at all so they went off to sony instead.


Sony as a console maker was not better than nintendo at that time.

They did not have 4 ports for 4 player mode.

they did not have rumble

They did not have an analog stick


then they copied off nintendo and used there analog stick and took the rumble idea as well.

the 4 player thing they also took but they had to use a multitap to do it. but the N64 displayed better graphics than the Ps1 and the ability to play 4 player games right out of the box.

Nintendo was just really hard on thrid party's back then.. clearly this does not mean Sony is better than nintendo from a short minded aspect i guess but if you look deeper in to the situation if nintendo was not around you would not have half the stuff you play today.

If you're looking at the Atari VCS (it was later changed to 2600 after the next system, the 5200 game out), then that's the very first system to ever use actual "game packs" instead of built in games.

Of course, since you called it 2600, then it's probably the second gen release and not as rare.

But still!

The 2600 wasn't the very first home system ever, but it basically set the standard for home consoles today.

There are more people interested in it then you think, especially older gamers who want to play the classics again or games they never got the chance to try them, heck I am going to download some. Memory wont be a problem, nes and snes games are pretty much just like some kilobytes, N64 is just some megabytes, and you can buy flash cards which are cheaper then the memory sticks that sony is selling. You can always use a ext harddrive.

I expect a boost in sales the moment the Wii is hacked, XBOX had a boost the moment it was cracked.

I really don't see much ppl in the market to get one right now
cuz all the games aren't that good

but by the time Halo 3 hits I think there'll be a repeat of Halo 2

well after final fantasy 7 and 8 square was into Inniotive gamez. . .(hope I haven't spelled that wrong) and since nintendo at the time was whopping sony with action gamez they turned down alot of square's good Idea and well let's just say when gamecube came out. . . nintendo got what they deserved.
