Which fansub group do you perfer?

I like AnimeOne, and I don't mind waiting, I already know what happens anyway, the speed of the sub shouldn't matter; well, unless it's licensed anime, then you get what you can cause you don't know when another version will come

I haven't had the chance to compare Anbu and AnimeOne since they split, but until then they were the best of the ones I'd seen. A-H, though fast, leaves quite a bit to be desired in terms of quality.

Hmm I think AnimeOne is the best fansubber , their subbing and overall quality is better then ANBU but they are a bit slow in releasing their version :mad: .

Amen brother. TW was the BEST. Period. But now they're gone :(

Of the other ones though, Aone takes the cake. Their subtitles are superior. ANBU wouldn't be so bad except they translated Kage Bunshin to "Shadow Replication" or whatever. Never, EVER, translate attack names. Grrrrr.

i "grew up" on TW so I have a soft spot for them, I think to this day they did the overall best job. the only thing I took issue with was the swearing they put in. It kind of rubbed me the wrong way I guess. I just noticed TW put out ep 53 though, so does this mean they're not dead?

I download Anime-Heaven because they are always first, but once ANBU comes out, I delete A-H. ANBU has much better translations, in my opinion. For instance, with episode 102, A-H made up the character General Todori and totally left out everything about the dragon and tiger jewels. I believe they confused the word taisha (shrine) with taishou (general). They somehow missed the green-haired ninja's name, Rokusho Aoi, too. I guess that's what happens when you sacrifice quality for time.

I totally agree with you on the Punk'd stuff. The whole joke was supposed to be from a Japanese candid camera-like show and while I can understand the modernizing/localization thing, it was just stupid. They were supposed to be saying "Success!" not "You just got Punk'd!"

Well... I was always a fan of ANBU-AONE so when they split i went with ANBU because one, they just plain own AONE in release times. And Two, they still keep amazingly great quality in subs and some decent picture too. ANBU it is for me! I have seen the other's subs and they just dont impress me or give me the best feeling like ANBU does, but who knows maybe I'm biased because I started naruto way back with ANBU-AONE... ANBU is my winner! yay!

AnimeOne. I LOVE the lettering. I LOVE the way they translate papers ON the paper with littering that mimics the Japanese characters as if it actually belongs on that paper. I've never seen anything like it. They rule.

Either ANBU or AonE. I like AonE but ANBU is also good and consistent (so far). I still kinda haven't made up my mind between the two.

I don't like getting other fansubs with typos and mistranslations, it kinda just kills the show for me. (If I want typos, I'll buy HK subs, thank you very much) Waiting an extra day or two won't kill anyone, especially since the alternative is waiting for it to be licensed.

I'd rather use AonE. But the only problem I have had with that is on episode 97. The raw AonE used was all overexposed and lower quality versus the one used by Anbu. But just in general I find AonE to be of much higher quality and more accurate subs.

Btw the um, Personal Jesus...thats codec corruption. I have had that happen before. It is just a bad divx codec. It happened cause I installed codecs overtop of eachother with different packages. I had to clean up afterwards. But xvid is certainly better than divx anyday. I am pretty sure both groups use divx but one uses a different version than the other, not sure.

Toriyamas World by far makes best subs.. but since they are not really in the game at the moment.. I download the A-H and watch it. Then when the AonE version comes out, I will download it and delete the A-H one. Then I wait for the Next episode from A-H and download it. So then I will watch the AonE ep I had already seen from A-H, and then right after watch the new one from A-H. Then continue this process.

I burn Naruto on DVDs when I have enough to fill one. And so I would definately want it to be from AonE.

BTW i burn them to DVD also... i dont really worry about the translation TOO much ... i loved anbu&Aone but now i tend to stick with anbu simply because they are more consistant. I like the on screen translation of japanese righting though and I like the ones that give you extra info... like the cultural aspect of a joke or translation of a technique.

ANBU was with aone, they only spit for like 20-ish episodes, AH (Dattlebayo) had the best looking subtitles but ANBU-Aone wins in terms of translations and quality. Good thing aone still slowly subbing Naruto, they weren't that different from ANBU.

The worst sub group was Bakafish, oh god there picture quality and translation was awful!

As Subbers, I go for ANBU/Aone, Their subs were the most professional looking and consistant. They also obviously put alot of work into their subtitles, ie. the different colours for Speaking, Off-Screen speaking, Thoughts, etc. and also they didn't have those "jokes" that Dattebayo have, which, though funny, are a lil annoying if you want something to look proffesional. My only gripe with ANBU/Aone is that they took ages to come out and they stopped afterwards. But if you compare an episode they subbed to an episode subbed by Dattebayo, its clear (or, at least to me) who's the better subber. ^^

The ANBU&Aone subs are my favourite. Not for any particular picture quality or translation quality reasons, I just preferred the look of their subtitles (thinner, with a slight colour around them) to the relatively bland-looking text DB uses.

Not that I have anything against DB, mind you. They have a good sense of humour, and they do quality work.
