i was typing a paper for school the other day on microsoft word, and found this font called WP japanese. so i clicked it. and it came up as all boxes..so then i clicked caps lock and it started making crazy letters, i typed out the american alphabet but i see japanese signs and they are like not i have. im really new to jap so like dont call me 12... =\ what like is this?

What windows do you have?
If you have XP, and you want to install japanese fonts, you need to go to go control panel>regional settings>language>install asian fonts.
After that you need to go to the language tab again and click details and then keyboard settings and add japanese to the list.
But that's probably not what you wanted...
WP Japanese is just a font you can use to type in japanese........

You don't have the actual unicode font system installed. Altough you have a japanese font downloaded. Follow yoshitsune's instructions, and then use the characters below to test it. Also you will most likely need your windows cd to install japanese fonts.
Here are some katakana symbols
シ - should look kinda like a smiley face
ヨ - should look like a backwards E
ニ - should be two lines; one on top on below.
If katakana works hiragana should too
....and some kanji
日 - Should look like a box shape with a line through the center
