Continuously.
I'm in a constant and never-ending cycle of new obsessions, and old obsessions be re-discovered.
Nothing beats spinning an old record and seeing it in an enterily new light (be it positive or negative)
I'm currently rediscovering Herbie Hancock and Duke Ellington, along with Opeth and The Dead Texan.

Good choice. but I rather prefer Stooges to Iggy Pop since some of his alblums are not my taste.
Yes, it happends a lot to me.
I have been obsessed with Doors one summer...
I also have been obssessed with Fugazi, Damned(First album) I listened literary every day and sang loudly while listening to them.
My storongest obsession will be Spacemen3, Thee Hypnotics, Flying Saucer Attack and Bark Psychosis. I used to listen to these bands with high volume which nearly made my family insane, so after I used my headphone instead...cough cough

I'm in same situation...cough cough
I know this may come as a shock, but recently I had an obsession with The Knife :oh
But yes, this is the great thing about being an utter music freak. Obsession after obsession overlapping each other, showing you new things or old things in a new light.

Yes, I can definitely relate to this. I am pretty much always obsessed with one thing or another. For example, I've been watching a lot of Scrubs recently, so that has added fuel to the fire of my current Doves obsession. :amuse
I know how you feel :laugh one day its Biz markie, another is Pase Rock, then I'll be obsessed with RJD2 the day after :laugh

Yes, the exact same thing has happened to me, too, but I listened to another artist. Her name is Elin Sigvardsson and I couldn't stop. I was obsessed.

I can't get enough of Brian Wilson lately! Smile is OUT OF THIS WORLD.
Iggy Pop is one hell of a justifiable obsession. :)

My storongest obsession will be Spacemen3, Thee Hypnotics, Flying Saucer Attack and Bark Psychosis.
yesyesyesyes! Further ( I loved how they did a 180 degree turn on that one with to vocals smack dab in the front with all the saliva sounds *I always though it was an amusing Nico parody: oh I see the treeheehees fall XD*, the and the riffs and soundscape textures where floating in the distance. Brilliant) along with Hex blow every cell in my being. If you fancy FSA this much, check out Valium Aggelein - Hier Kommtder Schwartze Mond. As spacey as it can get.
My current obessions are Charles Mingus, Youth Pictures OF Florence Henderson, Modest Mouse, Tidersticks, Low and Bibio.

I had a fixation with Coheed & Cambria a few months back. I listened to a scary amount of their stuff.
Lately I've been digging The Police and Crowded House in an obsessive way. And I think I may be developing an obsession for Screaming Headless Torsos.

I'm obsessed with Rich Kids On LSD, Charles Bronson, and The Gayrilla Biscuits.
Mingus so rules :hi5. I cant stop listening to Let My Children Hear Music
@ H.G: Modest Mouse are a tough band to describe really. They're pretty rocking, but merge so many different styles from punk to grunge. Honestly, they are one of the ebst bands out there. THey're lyrics are cynical, witty and painfully true. You might have a bit stomaching them at first due to the vocals, but seeing that you like Nico it should eb a smooth sailing XD.
Id up you something by them, but my connection wouldnt support it at all. However, make a request in the Music Request thread and someone will surely share it with you =]
More space rock recs:
Mum : think bjork meets FSA
Do Make Say Think : more post rockish really, but very wicked material. Goodbye enemy Airship The Landlord Is Dead is one of the greatest post rock records of all time
Labraford : dark space rock
Windy & Carl: just.freaking.awesome
Stars Of The Lid
The Dead Texan :Ambience + space rock = secks)
and try Deathprod, he's the god of dark ambioence and will blow every ounce of your beign away. I pimped him a while back and im sure someone can share it with you =D. All you need is Dead People's Things.
Welcome to the music dept btw :Amuse

Thank you very muich for your warm welcome.
I had an Iggy Pop obsession for a while and I ended up picking up his 1992 Paris DVD on Netflix.
Near the end of the concert, I ended up having to watch him do I Wanna Be Your Dog without any pants or underwear on and flopping around everywhere.
Iggy Pop obsessions are dangerous.
