Allright i guess i will be the first to start off this topic.

Who here Uses sony Vegas? i have 6.0D and i got some questions.

ah ic i tried perimre but i found it harder to use than vegas. although vegas is somewhat complex and alot of stuff i wish i found a guide online to show me all the extra features in the program and what not..

if you want vegas and i can give to you along with the key gen :)

i plan to make a trailer or a teaser for this competion ( based on my project i am planning on) i assume that is allright? i mean normally teasers are no longer than 63 seconds after that they become trailers and trailers usally do not go above 2 to 3 mins depening on how long the final project is.

Well i decied to to mai otome.

Mecha i am doing Mai Otome Story Part 2 for this competion and if you did not watch one well i suggest you do so you under stand this.

there will be a big differance between them i mean in quality/effects/sound etc. because this time i am using vegas and no WMM! so far its working out great i love it.

you can make really good video's with WMM as well Rho, its not all about effects just how you approach the AMV and the orginality of it.

when you try to load a video onto the time line or when you open the program?

if its opening the program try and reinstalling it

if its the loading a video onto the timeline and it crashes then try smaller files at first to see if the size is the problem. if not try reinstalling it.


I have Adobe Preimre 6.0 ( still learning)
Sony Vegas 6.0d ( easier than premire but just has good less effects though)
and Windows Movie maker.

I have a question. How many people usually enter an AMV competition on NF? Because i checked the previous AMV threads and there always seemed to be just 3 people being judged. Is there an elimination round or has there only been 3 or 4 people entering? If so then does this 4th competition actually have more people entering? If so then it would really be exciting to have more of a competition! Also I would like to see one of the judges enter.

that's great, I love AMVs! Because there's more competition, the quality of the vids should go up too! I can't wait to check out all the fresh new naruto AMVs!!!:nod

Hey Goku, since you seem to be one of the AMV gods, do you know what program(s) would work best if you're trying to make a manga music video with just images? I don't know if I could learn some complicated thing, I've always wondered how people did those little white/black block or line effects to the video.

All I use is WMM, it can get the job done I guess...I just want to know what other effects I could use in my video to make it flow better. I heard of that Adobe Image After Effects 7.0 or something, but it would take forever to download since it's not bittorrent and just a little trial. (and besides the fact I don't have a clue what it does...).

:cry I need something better than WMM~~! I want this to turn out as good as possible.

007vegeta ( final conflict maker) one of his beta vids had manga pages in it i linked it in the other narutofan competion thread ( the non discussion one) he uses adobe preimire i know you can do it in vegas as well but im not sure yet.

but for images you can do alot more with sony vegas / adobe permire than WMM in that aspect.

maybe trying something so difficult shouldn't be your first video. you are of course welcome to try doing this, but until you get all the tricks down, perhaps making a more traditional amv would work better for you.

video quality is just that. video. When you make a video out of still images, it is still producing a video when you export it out of the program. if the quality is bad, there will be pixelations and such that make it look bad. if the quality is good, it will be like looking at a nice clean manga scan! :D

This won't be my first video actually...my second manga video. I don't like doing anime ones because it would take me at least 2 months just to download the raws and stuff...hell noes.

Sony vegas if you type in Sony Vegas 6.0D in google one of the first links hsould give you a download of the full program and a keygen download link should be present as well.

SSJ3 Goku - Shut Up

Originality: 8/10 | It was a pretty cool concept (I think). I believe that Goku and Vegita were
having some sort of "argument"? At least, that's what the lyrics of the song led me to believe. It was
a little short to give me a good idea though.
Visual Quality: 9/10 | Either you were using good quality raws that you enhanced further or it was
DVD footage. Looked great.
Audio: 10/10 | Quality was clean. Sounded good.
Action Sync: 10/10 | Spot on. Amazing syncing abilities. The effects and transitions were just
done SO well. Nice job.
Lip Sync/Effects/Special Effects: 10/10 | The effects were used very nicely throughout the entire
video. You had some really awesome effects in there too, yet they weren't distracting. Very tastefully
done in my opinion.
Effort: 10/10 | Well, to get all these effects, timing and stuff to come together so well, an
enormous amount of effort must have gone into making this video. At least the video that I saw. It
definitely could have been longer.
Re-view-ability: 7/10 | It was fun to watch...yet waaaaaaaaay to short. Credits rolled on way to
long, I almost couldn't get through them.
Overall: 8/10 | Great editing skills, the video was just too short. I know you cut the song off
too early. It definitely would have scored a lot higher than it did if you had continued on, maybe even
first place.

Total: 72/80 Points

do not take this post offensecly of anything i just wanted to know a few things thats all.

Im pretty happy with that i expected it to be so. I kinda figured you would dog me on the shortness but the full song and me did not go hand in hand couldn ot figure out what to do after that part and i go well lets keep it nice and packed with action , short and sweet with nice credits.


but i do have a quarrel about the lip sycn/ effects department. I can see mine getting a 10 i used so many and used them well and even lip scying. But how can the others get 10's in that same department when they used only a "few"( meaning one 2 or 3 effects just used over and over ) or not as many and i was the only one to do lip syc as well witch i thought would be a great plus to this feild . i do not understand at all .

Credits do not know why you thought there where long honestly i guess compared to the AMV it self they where long but the meaning of those credits where to make it more like a proffessional Movie expeirence with Video going on in the background with some cool dark type song. Something similiar to star wars. I really thought that this here would get me a little nudge above everyone else who just did the same old same old that we have been seeing in AMV's for a while. I was trying to do something like AMV hell 3's credits but could not figure out a few things out and had to do it like i did. Plus the Logo i also thought that would bump me up i did all that in illustrator pro as well. not to mention i thought some ppl would like the professional columbia thing as well =/ trying to go for the pro look and something cool.

as for the re veiw ablity eh i guess i allways go back and watch it becuse its a fast paced song and what not thought a 7 could have been an 8 at least but thats my opinon of course.

the rest i agree with . Orginality yea Vegeta and goku where just going at it mainly and i was just wanting to keep the action going and faster. just ran out of ideas by the end .

but im happy you watched it and pretty pleased on what i scored :amuse till we meet again. ( although Everquest has been sucking up ALOT of my TIME!!!)

In the Video Properties . Change resoultion. make it widescreen, HD, whatever you waht aspect ratio etc.

@SSJ3 goku. The reason that DiZ got a 10 in the effects area was because he used them ever so tastefully. It completely complimented his video in what he was trying to get across with the song and byakuya. He didn't need to use more than he did to get a ten in my opinion. Quality over Quantity is what I focus on. You happened to use A LOT of cool effects, and that surprised me. I was expecting it to start to fall apart because you used so many, but you held it together and your effects were superb. it complimented what you were trying to do and the characters so you also got a ten. You happened to have a large quantity of quality effects, but i really only focus on the quality and their effectiveness in the video.

i hope that helps you understand my scoring.

EDIT: about the credits. a lot of what you put in there really just didn't seem necessary to me. Did you really have to put who all the characters were one after the other? and all the other info...like naruto and sasuke and who provided the raws... If you had to have all that information at the end, I would have put most of it together in blocks so it would quicker. That's just my opinion though. It didn't drop your score, I just thought I'd mention it in the review.

um yea it does it makes sense just a little hard to belive i mean i could have used 2 same effects if i wanted to get my point across but i chose not to. i mean on AMV . org there are a little rougher on that aspect meaning if they see some ppl putting alot of effort into effects and a good majority of them yea those ppl get 10's but ppl who uses like 2 or 3 just over and over they kinda bog down the points a little bit because of that. but its all good i guess.

yes for ppl who normally do not watch anime or what not they would want to know who they are. plus the service i thought was nessecary because it gives ppl that where i got this stuff from so they can do it.

i just thought the Intro / Creidts would boost my score up i mean it was differant than any other of the contensts and i thought it was cool with the music that i choose. so really i wanted to be differant and more professional. just like how AMV Hell's credits where. plus when iread the rules there was some mentioning in there to be differant so i did my best at that but it did not seem it payed off =(

o well i had fun doing mine and it normally takes ppl 2 years to do what i did and i did in 6 months ( well to understand the program etc) that video took me 1.3 months give or take . But i hope the other judges realize the intro / ending credits was done differantly than the others and acculy provided orginality instead of the same old thing we been seeing. Still trying to do something like AMV hell 3's creidts though but that is kinda rough lol.

i hate doing the same thing i did in pervious workings i do i try to push myself to do differant things and i belive alot of others should try it but let me warn you it takes TIME belive me and alot of it. but at the end of the days its worth it. though if i can away from EQ i might make another one. Diz showed me one he is working on with a song called What you Got and i got pumped from that song and i got many ideas on what to do with it.

but overall this competion was fun and i got a few ideas from just watching all your videos. i loved it and hope to do it agian =)

I was surprised that I scored pretty high. It was my first time using Adobe Premiere Pro (though I had worked with Sony Vegas or WMM before but not too well). However, I'm not surprise that Diz's, SSJ3 Goku's, or Yorae's ratings are fairly high. I enjoy the videos and I enjoy making my videos. I'm pretty sure I'll enter the next competition but since the time limit is decreased, I have to be quicker. For now, I'll just sit back and learn more about Adobe Premiere Pro

Well I can't say WMM is a bad AMV maker. Maybe upgrade to WMM2? It has more features than WMM (so I've heard) and I've seen most videos that was produced from WMM2 blow you away.

Your comments on the effects makes me realize even more the importance of making someone beta-test my videos before I run off and release them. So many effects that you think are cool might actually be out of place when you give the video a second look.

That's the one yet, haha hell no this isn't my first amv, but my last one in movie maker. Um...now I wonder why I entered it because I can do better then that I know it.

Well i have to reupload it so going to do that now.

and no i was being serious only thing i knew that would hurt me was the shortness i only made it 1 min and 25 seconds long ( the bulk of it) with about 30 to 40 second credits with an intresting intro differant than the rest tried to be differant , With all the effects, quailty ,logo, sound quality, etc.

I belive mine was the highest might sound rude i do not mean to come off that way. If it was longer i would have gotten first place in mecha's scoring.

and no i was being serious only thing i knew that would hurt me was the shortness i only made it 1 min and 25 seconds long ( the bulk of it) with about 30 to 40 second credits with an intresting intro differant than the rest tried to be differant , With all the effects, quailty ,logo, sound quality, etc.

I belive mine was the highest might sound rude i do not mean to come off that way. If it was longer i would have gotten first place in mecha's scoring.

well im downloading your vid right now i'll tell u what i think of it. my vid wasnt the hightest, but u,diz,and yorae,and zeroxblade all used something besides WMM. i'm pretty happy with my score only using WMM

also Diz i downloaded your vid, excellent video. i really liked all your effects and timing. how did u get your vid to have that watercolorish look? i've seen that in a lot of videos


EDIT umm ssj3 goku, i just saw your vid, and it looked like u were trying to copy FraChan's Naruto Shut Up. also it was really wierd when the music just faded out in the middle of the song

i know it was weird ihad to do that since i did not know what to do, so i cut the song and made it fade out in the end =( o well next time will be differant. In terms of effects diz used 2 through that video. Only if mine was longer but then again that was my first high quality one and took forever =( also if you do not mind please take the link out of the quote i never put my videos up anymore only for competions and sometimes animemusicvideo.org or animeconventions.

about the credits ya they where that long nothing really wrong with that .. reason why there is a problem is because the main AMV is short. plus i tried to do something like AMV hell 3's credits ( witch i will sooner or lateR) so being differant allways comes with a price sometimes.

ya he had some really good syncs with the beat. the only thing i really didnt like was the that u didnt use the song. next time use the whole song and u wud probably get a high score

well that was my first high quality video when you get off WMM you will see how long it took me just to do that took me about 2 months really to get used to everything and get all those effects timed. by the time i had all that done i just could not think of anything else and shortened it. So it was all fast pace, and kept you wanting for more ..

ahh i see, ya i hate it when i just stare at the screen and have no idea for effects anymore. well i got off of WMM a long time ago, so i use vegas and premiere now, they r lot easier than some people make them out to be. the only part i hate is exporting the movie, takes hella long in premiere and vegas.

but anyway u said u knew how to do that watercolor effect in vegas, could u plz tell me how do it, i asked around and they said using 'levels' and it doesnt give a really watercolor, it just darkens the clips. so if u could help, that would be greatly appreciated

you do use lvls but you have to adust them properly in the effect trimmer box if you do it wrong it will toatly mess up the whole picture . i might right a guide on how to do vegas not sure as of yet because i been busy. Also been trying new effects and what not in some samples i made just recently.

also the exporting thing well it depends what CPU you got and all i mean my system can export a high quality video like i showed in 4 to 5 mins.

Sorry everyone about the procrastination. I have been getting poor internet connection especially downloading speeds. I was only able to down three AMV's since one was disqualified and the other didn't play. I had felt that over the summer I would have enough time to do this but I guess I screwed around with my time and let you all down. Sorry again.
