What could lead to Luffy vs. Shanks?

1: history between shanks and the D?

2:luffy want to fight shanks to prove to to him that he is a real pirate?

3: fighting for one piece?

i han an imagination once, about Luffy and Shanks standing next to One piece. The Sichibukai and Gorusei are eliminated. Its like peace, and the sea is extreamly calm. Both wants the treasure, and they cant give up their dreams because of frendship.

The final fight begins. It would of course be an wery short one, but still the final fight. No death of course, but still they will fight like men about the biggest treasure existing.

Hmmm, I was thinking that they must fight some day also, some of my theories are: -

*They both go for one piece at the same time resulting in a fight
*One Piece doesn't actually exsist so the stories have all been lies making Luffy angry resulting in a fight
*Shanks has already got his hands on One Piece, meaning Luffy won't be able to come King of Pirates resulting in a fight.
*They fight for the hell of it, because of the history, the student surpasses the teacher type thing.

They'd fight if either got in the way of the others dream. There might be a little hesitating, but I don't think there would be that much. And they wouldn't hold back either. It would be no-holds barred, and very awesome.

and i don't think they'll actually fight in the serie, that would suck.

i think the possibility of this fight will be determined by what shanks actually is to the series. in the beginning, he was just a legend. if his purpose is to be a legend, then they won't fight. of course, shanks is an active character, as seen by oda going out of his way to say that he is meeting with whitebeard. if that trenscends his legendary status and becomes an actual character, than perhaps he and luffy will fight.

I think it would be sort of a "let's test your skills" kinda fight. Probably going to be the same with Ace, that or they befreind Blackbeard and Ace gets pissed at luffy and they fight

i don't know if they will fight, but i'd like them too. fer whutever reason, it'd be an awesome fight, we could see why shanks is so jawesome.

Whitebeard and Luffy will fight but I doubt Shanks will fight Luffy. Shanks might end up helping Luffy though.

Well there is also one other thing to consider with Shanks.

Ussop's father is part of Shanks crew. That is gonna lead to something eventually.

The only thing I see that could make luffy fight shanks is 'one piece' other than that nothing. Shanks means to much to luffy and luffy admirers and revels in shanks to much. So the only thing that can loom larger than the bond they have is the 'holy grail' of the one piece world.
