I don't believe anyone else has thought of this one yet. So, if A lion and A Tiger had not eatin anything for two weeks. Then were placed in A cage together to fight to the death. which animal do you think would win?:cool

Tigers out mass lions by a good margin and in the few documented fights between tigers and lions the tiger came out on top. It should be further noted that tigers beign solitary hunters rely more on their abilty to deliver rapid killing blows than a lion who is a pack hunter. MOreover, the lionesses are the ones that hunt in the pride. However they are also less massive than the males so the choice is between less mass and more skill and the reverse.

But if I am not mistaken ligers suffer from a wide array of congenital diseases due to various, "issues" revolving around the basic process of conception and frame.

Thus any advantage due to mass a liger gets is negated due to the health issues that come with it.

There was a thread of this long time ago. Lion has advantage because of it's mane which makes it very hard to go for fast kill by neck-bite. Lions also tend to be lot more agressive and fierce than tigers, plus they get much more training in fights because they are pack animals(all those territory issues and the like).

Anyways, tiger still holds the size/strenght advantage, so the fight can go either way. Having read couple of documents about fights that they arranged between the tiger and lion, tigers were rather reluctant to fight if my memory serves me right. Both going at it with similar rage and ferocity? I'd give it to tiger, but only 6 or 7 out of ten. Lion still stands a good chance.

If they just fight? Lion. It actually should have experience of fighting other big cats unlike tiger. Small size advantage doesn't help if your primary way of winning does not work(neck-bite) and the other fighter knows his stuff.

I remember arguing the case for Tigers in a the original thread that this thread is a duplicate of a long time ago.

Anyway, Tigers are bigger and stronger. And it's already been shown they win. Various videos of the Tigers and Lions fighting show that Tigers are indeed superior.

Lions will occasionally win though, but Tigers are more frequent.

The Discovery channel used to have this weekly documentary series where they would debate the most dangerous animals of the world in battles against each other. I found the Great White Shark vs Nile Crocadile to be the one of the most interesting ones. Although the shark wins, they say the Croc would have the advantage if the fight were in the river.

The (male)African Lion vs the Siberian Tiger was one of the last documentaries showed. The Lion wins...due to two reasons, it's hairy mane(Tigers always go for the kill by connecting with the neck of it's prey) and it(the lion) being trained and raised as a fighter/brawler and having more stamina than the slightly bigger Siberian Tiger.

If anyones ever watched animal face-off this was one of the episodes. The Tigers size means little advantage in battle. The victor is the first which can get their jaws on the opponents neck. Both suffer from low stamina, but the deciding factor in the battle was the Lion's battle experience. Lion's are raised from birth as natural, aggressive fighters. Tigers live in solitude and normally do not come in contact with many other tigers. Thus the lion is the victor.

The lions' forequarters are stronger than those of tigers, however, the hindlegs of the tigers are stronger than those of the lions.

Just think of it this way, lions are made to fight and tigers are made to hunt.

fighter vs hunter = 50/50 chance.

it also depends on which tiger or lion you are using. ASSUMING that we are talking about African Lion vs. Bengal Tigers, it would be 50/50.
Siberian Tigers on the other hand are pansies compared to the Bengal Tigers.
Though bigger, the Siberian tigers are more docile than their cousins, the more aggressive Bengal.

Of all the lion families, the Barbary Lions are the biggest. Though already extinct, the difference between a Barbary Lion and an African Lion is that the barbary's mane extends from his head/parts of his back all the way to his chest and belly.
Though questioning if the Barbary is aggressive or docile, it is all speculative since it is extinct.
