Pocket Monsters (Pokemon) Fanclub

I searched and couldn't find a fanclub for either Pocket Monsters or Pokemon, so here is one now.

This is one of the most famous anime series, period!
The original Pocket Monsters series lasted for 277 Episodes, and 5 movies(along with 1 TV special, Myuutwo Returns)
The new Advanced Generation series aired 191 episodes with 4 movies.
Now currently airing is Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl.

Additionally there was the past Pokemon Hoso series which occasionally aired special episodes focused on past characters who had left the cast, along with popular characters who had only appeared in a few episodes of the series.

Additonally, the numerous video games, particularly the rpgs, are well known, along with the TCG.

This is one helluva series, which definitely deserves a fanclub.

I absolutely hate that they handle their pokemons in such a stupid way but the same could be said about naruto. I like the whole idea and the part where new pokemon are found and tournaments and evolution is quite thrilling as new powers are constantly discovered. I think you would all agree on this.
I would like to join but I'm out of shape you see I stopped watching after the beginning of the series with the new pokemon like chikorita. I played in a red and blue pokemon tournament because my friend had the N64 pokemon stadium game. I'll just come buy, see watsup.

ZOMGa, I'm totally joining! I heart Pocket Monsters so much, probably even more as I get older than when I first got into the scene at about 12-13. I can't believe it's already been 10 years since Pokemon came out. I think there's a commemorative event traveling the country in honor of the anniversary. I so want to go. XD

It's funny, I never extensively played any of the games until Ruby. It's still the only game I own, which is sad, but I'm such a lazy arse and I suck at training good, strong Pokemon anyway.

Even though I understand where people are coming from when they say the anime's getting repetitive, I still love it. Battle Frontier's looking awesome, from the few eps. I just saw. And I can't wait for the ninth movie.

I don't know. I liked "Spurt," but I've only started watching the raws recently, so the only ops I've actually seen are "Battle Frontier" and this new one. "Battle Frontier" beats "Spurt," but for some reason I still really like it. I'm not too fond of the tune of the verse, but the prechorus and chorus sound edgy and cool, and Matsumoto Rica-san (whom I heart), as always, did a good job singing this one. There were some animation scenes that felt out of place with the song, namely the Rocket-dan part, but I really liked the beginning where we see Satoshi's gang of Pokemon shadowed and Haruka's part. Overall, there were times the op felt and sounded shaky, but I still really liked the feel of the animation sequence and sound of the song.

Oh! Did you catch the new insert song during Haruka and Luna's battle? I think it was called "Watashi Makenai ~ Haruka no Theme" or something like that. Nice touch to the battle, and I was excited to hear Kaori-san sing. I'll be eagerly waiting both this and "Spurt" full versions.

One last bit. Went to the Pokemon Journey Across America event yesterday. Pimp. Arse. I'd devulge, but I'm fricken tired. Next post, I promise. ^.^;;

Blissey forms part of the "SkarmBliss" combo which includes Skarmory and Pokémon like Suicune or Dusclops to stall the opponent into submission. Many players will even quit a battle the moment a Blissey is sent out...

Well, Sudowoodo would make sense, because of the whole fake/lying thing. Exegguctor would probably work with some of those attacks, too.

The Muchul ep. was all right. Especially after the Haruka/Takeshi contest battle, it was nothing spectacular. It had its cute comedic moments, and I found myself hoping Musashi would get to keep the Muchul even though she couldn't considering how angry the Rougela sisters were. The next one might be interesting, though. Battle Tower, I think it was?

Probably the same thing they did for the Kinagi Convention in Houen where Haruka got her 5th ribbon(the one where she fought against Eriko and her Rougela). Skip it in the US, air it England and other countries.

In Joutou I can't remember very many appearances, but his big battle with Satoshi at the end kicked ass.

She's the last Satoshi has to beat, aside from the final battle at the Battle Pyramid, assuming the anime sticks to the games(and based on the opening animation, I think they will).

Pikachu leanred Volt Tackle a few months ago in the same episode Haruka got the Pokemon egg that eventually hatched into her Eievui.

Next week should be good, looks like Pikachu, Kentauros, and Heigani vs. Fuudin, Eifi, and Metagross.

Fuudin really put the ownage on Satoshi's team this episode.

Well, Satoshi won, in pretty good fashion. Pikachu using 100,000 Volts to cause a blackout was a good strategy.

I have to wonder, was him recalling and then immediately reusing Heigani legal? If it was, why doesn't everyone just do that anytime their Pokemon is about to get hit? Oh well, its a small thing.

Satoshi and Haruka trying to talk to their Pokemon telepathically was hilarious, as well.

And given the big deal Haruka made about checking out Eifii on her Pokemon Zukan, I have to think we know what her Eievui will evolve into now.

I think Heigane was confused, and Satoshi probably recalled him to restore him to good sense. But if he's allowed to do that, why hasn't he done it any other time? There was that time in the Houen semifinals--I think it was--when a trainer's Koduck confused Heigane, and even though its random confusion-induced attacks worked to Satoshi's advantage, and assuming recalling Pokemon like he did in the latest ep. is legal, couldn't he have just recalled Heigane then and had him attack properly? Then again, that was the league championships, and maybe some rules are different between random, gym, and championship battles.

Ah well, Satoshi won, so yeay. Even though the Efie losing burned my soul because I'm such an Eivui +evos fangirl.

Random question: I know in the games when your Pokemon learn a move and it already has its four you have to make it forget one to make room for the new one. Do they have that same rule in the anime? I wouldn't think so, but it seems like most Pokemon use the same few moves anyway, so it wouldn't matter.

While we're on the topic of Volt Tackle...that's one kick-arse move. Makes Pikachu look really powerful and cool, which is saying something because Pikachu isn't a particular fave Pokemon of mine.

You think Haruka will evolve Eivui into Effie? In other places, especially Serebii people are still speculating we'll get a grass Eivui evo with the fourth gen Pokemon. I think either Effie or...carp, I don't know Umbreon's Japanese name...would be good choices. The other type Eivui's elements are already covered by Satoshi-tachi's other Pokemon, but as far as I know none of them have any psychic or dark.

I enjoyed the Deoxys Special. Hinata's a decent character(although not as good as the Naruto character by the same namesmile-big ), so it was nice to see her return. At the start when the Monster Balls stopped working I was like "Oh no, this will be something where only Pikachu gets used", but we got to see good time for Ousubame, Numacraw, Wakashamo, and over course Jukain(who steals the show).

Nice to see interaction between Masato and Nyasu, as well. And seeing Satoshi-tachi work with Rocket Gang was pretty cool.

Apparently, starting with this next episode, Glory Day will be replaced as the ending by "Watashi Makenai, Haruka no teema"(the song that previously aired during the Zenigame vs. Hassamu as well as Eievui vs. Numacraw).

Of course, Glory Day has been replaced as the ending before, only to return, and is the Ending that's been used with more episodes then any others.

Upcoming Episodes include the previously mentioned Harley/Rocket Gang Team Up, Haruka vs. Musashi for her last ribbon, and

"The Disbanding of Rocket Gang"?
Title is probably a misdirection, but it should provide for an interesting episode. Maybe we'll even see Sakaki, Yamato, and Kosaburo.(So we can get a "Look, its Yamato and Kosanji" "ITS KOSABURO" :P )

After that, we return to Nibi Gym, so Takeshi might actually get some focus.

Ha ha, I still think Takeshi's hot. Moreso now with the second wardrobe than the original. Less clashy, because orange and green just look funny together. But yeah, the Nibi Gym eppie...hopefully it'll be good. Definitely crossing my fingers for some Takeshi action. I wonder, since the title mentions Nibi Gym, maybe we'll get to see Jirou? Just a hopeful speculation. To this day, I still haven't seen the Takeshi Housou special, which I want to really badly. -.-;;

Two Takeshi eppies within a year, though... Holy fark, what if that means the writers are only giving him more screentime now to subtly prepare the Takeshi fans for his...his departure?! A lot of fans are saying that as a charry he's already outgrown his usefulness, probably even before Kasumi did, and speculating that after this region he'll...he'll leave. -.-;; I don't want that happening again. At least I'd be more mature about it and not boycott the anime and make parody hate songs about his replacement, but still. I still want him there, even just for show if that's all he ends up being.

Actually, as a trainer I think Satoshi's improved. He's not as gung-ho, win just one guts and wits like he used to. While he's still got the cute, gullible, outgoing personality, he's thinking and strategizing better now. We'll always see him use Pikachu, but he uses his other party Pokemon more often now as well.

I'm wondering what's up with the Rocket Gang disbanding ep., though. I hope it doesn't mean the end of the MusaKoji Rocket Gang. I can't think of any ideas as to what the ep. could be about. While we're on Rocket Gang eps., the Harley/Rocket team-up should be good, if not really funny. If the ep. is good, I should be able to stomach Harley.

I'm not even sure about Kenji. I've heard so many different things about why he replaced Takeshi and then Takeshi came back that I'm not even sure.

As for removing Kasumi first, they may have wanted to avoid having two girl characters at the same time, especially without another male character(aside from Masato, who doesn't have Pokemon so they can't use him to market Pokemon like they can with the other 3). And since they wanted the co-star to be a female(to help attract more female fans and more freshness to the show), Kasumi needed to go.

And I think part of the reason for Takeshi's staleness is his role in most episodes is "flip out at girl, get dragged off by Masato, then get relegated to the background and give commentary on the match".

After 8 years the whole girl crazy thing seems to be getting really old. The Azami episode was pretty good, and his fight vs. Haruka was great, but in general the writers seem to have his character in a rut.

Its kind of funny since in the early days Takeshi was actually the most serious of the main cast, and then they shifted him into the goofball. Also, I think with Satoshi now an accomplished trainer in his own right their trying to make him the experienced member of the group, which is why they removed Kasumi, and will presumably remove Takeshi. The two characters who initially gave him advice when he was a rookie trainer.

Hopefully they bring back the Hoso's, though. Takeshi can be good when he has stories to support all by himself(rather then what he's done in Houen), and we could also see more of Kasumi, Shigeru, Hiroshi, Sakura, and Nanako with more Hoso Specials.

Just watched AG 170 "Usokkie and the Legend of Gold".

Some changes present here in regards to the opening/ending.

As previously mentioned, "Glory Day" has been replaced by "Watashi Makenai ~ Haruka no Teema" (I Won't Lose! Haruka's Theme) which is sung by Kaori(Haruka's Seiyuu). It first debuted a couple months ago as an insert song. The visuals are pretty good, although I'm surprised there was only one shot of Shuu and Harley at the end.

The animation to Spurt was updated slightly. The scene of Satoshi standing before the Battle Pyramid was replaced with Hinata and the upcoming character from the Movie.

The episode was a decent filler, although a little slow placed. I liked the version of "Battle Frontier" they used at the end, it fit the scene well.

Next up, Harley and Rocket Gang team up to make Haruka's life miserable. THOSE BASTARDS(but it should be amusing).

In bigger news:
POCKET MONSTERS HAS RELEASED A NEW SUB

While most of us expected a DVD sub of AG 3, they've jumped ahead and subbed AG 159 "Who has the Championship? Pokemon Orienteering.", and episode from earlier this year.

Hopefully they'll continue to release subs of recent episodes(and go back to fill in the gap when they have the chance). According to the site they'll release a sub of 160("Gonbe's Debut Battle. Harley and taking the game seriously.") next friday.

I'm "getto daze"ing the ep. right now, sweetness.

The gold Usokki ep. was all right for filler. It had some good bits of Rocket-dan humor, Usohachi trying to talk to Usokki was cute, and Kinya wasn't that bad of a character. I actually felt bad for him that Usokki kept running away, but I'm glad they patched things up in the end. The ballad "Battle Frontier" was very nice, emotional even. And the new ending was lovely. We got a lot of nifty Haruka and her Pokemon action, and the animation looked good. I'm also surprised Shuu and Harley weren't in it till the end, but otherwise it's still very good. The part where Haruka's eating all the noodles and Satoshi-tachi's all like, "Holy fark, you pig," was funny.

Next ep. should be good. Harley and Musashi seem to be hitting it off well, from the preview. XD

Harley and Rocket Gang! The Formation of a Villain's Alliance!

What a great episode. We had everything, including Shuu showing up. Harley and Rocket Gang's antics were hilarious, and the appeals were awesome. Haruka's appeal may be the best ever, it was that great.

I loved all the humor in the episode as well.

Looks like next week is the real treat though. Haruka vs. Musashi for the final ribbon, and Shuu vs. Harley to save Satoshi-tachi. We get to see Shuu's kick ass Flygon in action again, too.

Damn, and this is just the last contest.

The Grand Festival promises to be even better then the Houen Grand Festival.

Harley can be amusing sometimes, but his fanbase at some forums scare me. And he can be really annoying, although this was one of his better episodes. God I wanted to kill him during the Grand Festival, speaking of annoying Harley moments.

And its good to see Musashi fending for herself. She was doing well, and she didn't cheat on her own appeal, either. We saw Kojiro win at Pokemon Orienteering, Musashi can at least hold her own in a contest here.

The new voice for dub Takeshi has been posting at Serebii Forums, and said that 4Kids contract has prohibited the old voices from working.

Rachel Lillis(dub Kasumi) then sent out an email saying that guy was full of shit(my words, not hers) and nothing in the contract prohibited them from working on it. Maddie Blaustein(dub Nyasu) confirmed that as well elsewhere.

I think I'm going to have a headache.

Pokemon USA may be keeping the music, but they're screwing everything else up.

Hopefully Funimation or Viz intervenes down the line and fixes everything.


Also, in case anyone didn't know, Pokemon will no longer air on KidsWB this fall. KidsWB has claimed its due to falling ratings, but those who track the ratings know that it is still their highest rated show. The likely reason is that the shift from 4Kids to Pokemon USA nullified their contract and they chose to take the show elsewhere.

Oh boy, the happenings with dub Pokemon is confusing. I believe they're negotiating to air the rest of Pokemon on Cartoon Network, but nothing official has been said. Either way, what everyone was hoping to be a miracle for the Pokemon fandom with Pokemon USA taking the anime rights has turned into a nightmare.

It's good to see Rocket-dan being able to hold their own in contests. Musashi did really well, especially since Cacturne (who's Japanese name escapes me) isn't her own Pokemon. And even though Orienteering isn't really that challenging of an event, Kojirou managed to win that one cleanly.

I know what you mean when it comes to the Harley fanbase, Hinata's Fan. They're kinda scary and are convinced he's the greatest thing to happen to the Pokemon anime since maybe Shigeru. Harley really isn't that bad in general, but sometimes his flamboyance is irking. I prefer Shuu over Harley as well when it comes to Haruka's rivals.

Speaking of rivals, why doesn't Satoshi have regular rivals anymore? He'll maybe pick some up towards the championship finals, but he doesn't have any like Haruka does. Maybe it's because he's much more experienced in battling now and doesn't really need a rival to encourage him to train harder and better. Still, Shigeru made things interesting for Satoshi back in the day.

Conclusion to the 2 parter was good. Haruka vs. Musashi was a good fight, and even went into Overtime. In the end, it was the lack of communication between Musashi and Jupetta that did them in. They put up a great fight though. Now Haruka has all the ribbons, and can prepare for the Grand Festival.

And next time, Musashi, Kojirou, and Nyasu split ways, and the return of Yamato and Kosaburo.

Cute, fun ep. The Rocket-dan eps. are a nice change of pace from the norm, although I still enjoy following Satoshi-tachi around. The Rocket disbanding was only for this one ep., and the mixed up team of Musashi and Kosan--I mean, Kosaburou and Yamato and Kojirou was funny, especially when the girls would get ticked off because their new guy partner didn't know their right motto. The Rocket girls really do run the show, and the guys seem to kind of cave in. Musashi and Yamato can be scary sometimes, though, so I don't blame Kojirou and Kosan--burou. I also liked the bit about Nyarth getting all sentimental over the buscuit and how they used to divide every tiny morsel of food into three pieces. Not to mention "Maemuki Rocket-dan" played a lot, which is a plus because it's one of my fave Pocket Monsters song and my fave Rocket tune.

Can't wait for next ep., though. We get to see Takeshi's family again. And angry, pink-aproned Takeshi makes for some good times.

Lol, can't believe Takeshi could make that screw up.

Cute, fun ep. The Rocket-dan eps. are a nice change of pace from the norm, although I still enjoy following Satoshi-tachi around. The Rocket disbanding was only for this one ep., and the mixed up team of Musashi and Kosan--I mean, Kosaburou and Yamato and Kojirou was funny, especially when the girls would get ticked off because their new guy partner didn't know their right motto. The Rocket girls really do run the show, and the guys seem to kind of cave in. Musashi and Yamato can be scary sometimes, though, so I don't blame Kojirou and Kosan--burou. I also liked the bit about Nyarth getting all sentimental over the buscuit and how they used to divide every tiny morsel of food into three pieces. Not to mention "Maemuki Rocket-dan" played a lot, which is a plus because it's one of my fave Pocket Monsters song and my fave Rocket tune.
Yeah, Nyasu's scenes were great. The botched up mottoes were great, too. And if we count Yamato and Kosaburo there were 4 blast offs, is that some kind of record?

Can't wait for next ep., though. We get to see Takeshi's family again. And angry, pink-aproned Takeshi makes for some good times.

For those who haven't seen yet, the first screencaps of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl for the DS have been released here (http://www.n-philes.com/index.php?id=2715).

Looks cool. Same basic look, but more detailed. And 3D models for the battles, as well. Comes out in Japan this fall.

Pocket Monsters has also finally released a fansub of AG 160(Gonbe's Debut Battle). Getto daze!

And with Diamond and Pearl coming out soon, it only seems fitting to speculate on how it'll affect the anime.

Here are my guesses on characters chances of returning(along with their Pokemon):
Satoshi: 100% Main character, not going anywhere. As for his party:
Pikachu: 100% yeah...
Jukain: 95% most likely will be back
Heigani: 80% probable return
Donphan: 40% not likely, but possible
Ousubame: 0.0000001%(always gets a new flying type)

He'll probably get the new fire starter(as he currently has no fire pokemon)
Haruka: 100%(costar)
Wakashamo: 100%(starter)
Gonbe: 100% mascot
Eievui: 99% no sense introducing it otherwise
Zenigame: 60% probably back, but not for sure

currently lacks a grass Pokemon, gets the new grass starter

Takeshi: 20% his time seems to be nearing its completion

I'd like to see Heigane maybe evolve into Shizarigar in the next region. Heigane's proven to be quite useful, and pretending experience points mattered in the anime, he's probably got enough to do so. I don't see Donphan returning either because he's second gen, and I'd imagine the writers would want to pimp some fourth gen Pokemon. Seeing Oosubame go would make me a little sad; he's become a bit of a fave.

Sadly, I'm also beginning to believe Takeshi-kun's leaving when this season ends. They're in the Kanto region, and Nibi City is Satoshi's final battle destination before the championships. I'm betting after supporting Satoshi and Haruka in their respective Kanto championships he'll return to Nibi for good. The preview for the Nibi Gym ep. showed the gym in shambles. Maybe Jirou is having a harder time than thought maintaining it, and Takeshi might stay behind to help out.

Masato's staying, despite his relative uselessness only because he's Haruka's little brother and she's a main charry.

Rocket-dan's here to stay as well. I don't see their lineup changing much either, since it usually doesn't.

Shuu's going to be there for a while. He's to Haruka like Shigeru was to Satoshi. Harley might leave for the same reasons you stated. She's beaten him twice in Houen and indirectly defeated him by beating Musashi. With Shuu, Haruka can continue aiming to get stronger and someday defeat him. Harley doesn't pose that kind of challenge anymore, so other than good comic relief he has little importance.

I'd love to see Satoshi have an on-going rival like he used to, but don't know if I see it happening. It seems like the writers have made him appear mature to the point he no longer needs one since he can progress well enough on his own. One by one, we're seeing Satoshi's old support group knocked off, which helps to emphasize his growth as a trainer. Kasumi was one of the people who helped him as a young trainer, but we've seen her go. Takeshi these days is of little use to him, and by the looks of things has his days numbered. Shigeru left because his seiyuu sucks and quit Pocket Monsters to become a researcher.

Haruka, being the less experienced coordinator, seems more likely to have a new rival. Assuming we'll lose Harley, one of the D/P players can fill that role. I'd love for it to be the girl, since we've never had a female rival.

Yeah, I'd be sad to see Ousubame leave, too, but he does always get a new flyer. At least Ousubame's strength ensures he'll become one of the Pokemon Satoshi recalls for battles every so often.

Looks like Jirou has regained control at the end of the episode, but I'd still say Takeshi's time is probably numbered. Maybe he goes off and settles down with Azami(and then he could finally stop being girl crazy for every one in future cameos).

The Kantou Grand Fesitval has begun! And what an episode it was. The return of Vivian was surprising, and we meet Saori, a new rival who is to Shuu what he is to Haruka. Apparently she even made Shuu cry once.

And she seems to be from Nibi City and know Takeshi. Aipom also returns, and seems to be a new reoccuring character.

And Harley...Wow. A new low for Harley, and I loved it. COSPLAYING AS HARUKA. That was freaking hilarious and unexpected.

This Grand Festival is shaping up even better then the Houen one. Shuu is at maximum capacity, Harley is actually funny, and Saori is already far more interesting then Tonpei and Robert combined.

Next time. "Haruka vs. Harley. Stage on in a Double Battle!"

I have loved Pocket Monsters since 1999 I believe. It introduced me to anime, in fact. At first sadly all I knew of was 4Kids' awful butchered dub, but a couple years ago I discovered the wonderful uncut Japanese version.

The Kanto arc (a.k.a. "season one") is still right up with my all time favorite anime (arguably my favorite series), and Myuutsu no Gyakushuu (a.k.a. Mewtwo Strikes Back) is my all time favorite anime, period (an incredible movie).

My favorite human character (and probably my all time favorite male anime character) is Satoshi, mostly due to the first movie (that should be self-explanatory ;)).

I don't know if I have a favorite Pokemon, but some of my top ones are Hitokage, Pikachuu, Butterfree, Mewtwo, Mew, Blackee, Lizardon, Latias, Latios, and quite a few others that I've probably forgotten at the moment. ^^;;

Wishing Star is probably my second favorite of the films, followed by Guardian Gods of the Water Capital, and then Celebi - A Timeless Encounter. I actually haven't seen Hero of the Wave yet, though I've had the fansubbed DVD-rip on my computer for some time now. I guess I just haven't gotten to it. It looks very good though.

I think it has definitely been above Orange and Jouto, and is arguably as good as Houen (though I may still like Houen better for certain eps), but it doesn't even come close to Kantou IMO. And of course, I am a good deal behind Japan on Battle Frontier (a little more than 20 eps I think), but I can't see it ever competing with Kantou. Kantou was the classic series that started it all. I think its sentimental value is so strong for me that it won't be topped. And the writing was just hands down the best in that saga, especially in the earlier eps. I must also say I preferred the older animation, too. The stuff today is good, but I definitely don't enjoy it as much.

Wishing Star is probably my second favorite of the films, followed by Guardian Gods of the Water Capital, and then Celebi - A Timeless Encounter. I actually haven't seen Hero of the Wave yet, though I've had the fansubbed DVD-rip on my computer for some time now. I guess I just haven't gotten to it. It looks very good though.
I highly reccomend Hero of the Wave. I agree about the others, too. The only movie that was kind of eh was Revelation Lugia. Rather dissapointing.


I hear that the main character will be the female hero of the games. Does this mean no more Satoshi-tachi? :(
The current rumor seems to be two different series, one with Satoshi-tachi, and one with the new character. Althoug more info should be available within a month or so. I can't see them abandoning Satoshi and Haruka.


I think it has definitely been above Orange and Jouto, and is arguably as good as Houen (though I may still like Houen better for certain eps), but it doesn't even come close to Kantou IMO. And of course, I am a good deal behind Japan on Battle Frontier (a little more than 20 eps I think), but I can't see it ever competing with Kantou. Kantou was the classic series that started it all. I think its sentimental value is so strong for me that it won't be topped. And the writing was just hands down the best in that saga, especially in the earlier eps. I must also say I preferred the older animation, too. The stuff today is good, but I definitely don't enjoy it as much.
I'd have to disagree. Pretty much from the battle against Azami on, Battle Frontier blows Kantou out of the water, IMHO.

Almost no filler(and the few fillers are very enjoyable), some of the best contests ever, with the final episode of the Grand Festival featuring the best fight in the series history I think. Plus the Frontier Brain battles have been excellent, too.

Kantou is great, and it'll always be the part of the show that got me hooked, but I'd take Battle Frontier over it, aside from Takeshi's relative usefullnes(although even he's gotten a couple of moments in the past few months).

I don't know their English names, but the male's name is Kenta and the female's Marina. They've appeared in the Pokemon Housou specials, which are dubbed as Pokemon Chronicals for the three episodes in the Raikou, Legend of Thunder special.

So the Diamond and Pearl anime's coming out Sept. 28, on the current series's timeslot. I'm starting to worry that Pocket Monsters is actually going to come to an end. The anime feels like it's hinting at the series ending.

01) Satoshi's lost to Jindai twice already. I can't recall any other time he's had so much trouble defeating a Gym Leader. Maybe the writers made Jindai so difficult to defeat so Satoshi's final battle would be more memorable, since he'll have to work much harder for it.
02) Satoshi's also bringing back Lizardon, Fushigidane, and Zenigame for his Battle Pyramid battle. These three were some of his very first Pokemon, as well as the Red/Blue starters. Maybe the writers are bringing back old Pokemon to hit a nostalgic nerve in their viewers.
03) Do these ep. titles sound any more finalizing to you?
AG 186 - Haruka vs. Shuu! Rivals Forever!: Haruka's already defeated Shuu in the Grand Festival, and he's her oldest rival. Sure, she still has yet to win Grand Festival altogether, but defeating Shuu's already a huge accomplishment on its own, so I can see the writers ending her story with that. Also, Shuu and Harley are headed for the Joutou contests, and since Satoshi's already battled through Joutou and has other regions to explore, I don't see him sticking around with Haruka. This indicates a possible parting of ways for our two heroes. Normally, I'd assume the writers are only dumping Haruka, but combined with other clues this parting of ways means more than just that.
AG 188 - The First Pokemon! The Final Battle!!: Already explained. See 02).
AG 190 - Satoshi vs. Haruka! The Last Battle!!: We've got our two heroes battling it out, and the "Last Battle" bit doesn't help make it sound not finalizing.
AG 191 - The End of the Journey; The Start of the Journey: Okay, now doesn't this title sound so last ep. ever? It has that last ep. feeling that the present story ends here, but, for the characters it seems to say they'll never forget each other and always be there for each other in spirit, and for the viewers that even though the series is ended they hope you won't forget the great, long run. Or, in short, the "It's the end, but not really the end" vibe.
04) Remember the slew of Takeshi-centric eps. we've had in Battle Frontier? He hasn't been more than a lovesick cook/occasional guide since post-Kantou. So why make him suddenly semi-important now? Normally I'd take this as the writers pimping Takeshi before they dump him as well, but, like the Haruka case, combined with the other clues it amounts to much more.
05) Again, factor in Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl being in AG's timeslot, and maybe you get why I'm thinking this.

I guess I shouldn't be sad. Even if Satoshi-tachi's journey's ended it was a fun ride. Ten years is a memorable number, and it would be a memorable time to end the anime. We'll still have a Pocket Monsters anime, just with new characters, so it isn't a total loss. We may not have Satoshi-tachi anymore, but Pocket Monsters, in some way, shape, or form, will be here for a very long time.

I could just be assuming and overanalyzing everything, and I'm a douche for making all of this up. Who knows. ^.^;;

I don't think Satoshi and Haruka are done. The title "End of a Journey, Begining of a Journey" implies that the story isn't over yet. I can't see the writers dumping two popular characters.

And need I remind you the final title of the original series was "The Parting with Pikachu"? That sounds way more ominous than any of these titles, and was a whole lot of nothing.

Plus, why have Satoshi recieve a postcard from Shigeru and find out about Shinou if he doesn't go?

And 'Final Battle' doesn't carry much weight when he had the episode "Haruka vs. Shuu! The Final Battle!", and they fought again 4 episodes later...

I'm not sure where Legend of Thunder sub could be found. I think Excalibur subbed it aways back, but it doesn't seem to be around anymore, unfortunately.

The games and anime start 9/28. Satoshi is confirmed to return in the anime, Haruka and Takeshi look like strong possiblities with Bashamo and Laglarge featured on the poster.

The games should be awesome. I'm probably going to pre-order sometime this week.

Haruka was the new female character who replaced Kasumi/Misty in the Advance Generation series. Instead of doing Gym Battles and earning badges like Satoshi/Ash, she participated in Pokemon Contests and earned Ribbons. She was recently replaced with the Diamond and Pearl female Hikari, also an aspiring coordinator.

I'm actually slightly resentful about Hikari replacing Haruka, too. I thought the change would be easy to adjust to, but not so. Still not sure what I think of Hikaru yet. I'll probably end up liking her, probably not as much as Haruka, though, but right now she's just sort of there.

I got Mystery Dungeon for Christmas, and I'm loving it. It actually has an interesting story. *gasps* In a Pokemon game? *sky starts falling and people run around screaming trying to rip their heads off*

And the battles are pretty fun, although more challenging than a traditional RPG battle.

I loved pokemon when I was a kid. Still do. I can even remember the first episode I ever saw (the Squirtle Squad episode). And my favorite Pokemon is Vaporeon.
