k, i used Windows Movie Maker (WMM) and Adobe Premiere (AP). WMM would be the best choice for starters, adobe for the advanced. There are others but i never use ay others :P

Anyway in WMM and AP, when you import a video into:

WMM: At the bottom in the timeline (should have video, audio/music and title overlay as titles). The video is imported either draggin the fuile you want in the collection area or following the movie tasks on the left hand side of the screen with the needed steps. "import video" or dragging the file you want it.

NB// WMM tends to seperate the video when you import or drag it in, this can make it easier or a pain.

In the collection part where the file now is drag it onto the video section. It uploads and then gives you a preview on the left hand side.

(If it is encoded differently WMM might not except it and you will not get a preview.)

Play it to see if it works, Now the part you asked about getting rid of the files audio. On the timeline there is "video" click the plus sign and more option in the timeline will appear. One should be full with the file's length. And the name should be audio. Simply right click and press mute. Don't press delete or you will delete the video as well.

Audio

Like before with the video drag or clicking the left hand side "import audio" in the collection area. Now simple drag your file into the audio music section.

Not the one that you muted the movies file audio with but one of the three from the beginning.

any problems or queries just ask.

The file you selected is too big or your PC is fudged. Maybe the clip is too long so more frames and that is slowing down your computer...

i highly doubt that my PC is a top notch rig. the video seperated into all the sences and what not. do not know why it is a regular AVI file .
