@Jerome - In the states some people want to act like racism doesn't even exist anymore, but that's a bunch of bullshit. I'd say a lot of it is repressed, though it can blow up as well.

As to my stay in Japan, the only dirty looks I got were from shop keepers near the base (teenagers steal) and old people that may have been around during the war, but this was a small minority. I loved living there and the people were very friendly.

@ Sousske: Yep, It's been a year already since I've worked in the Insurance Industry and despite my educational background, things seem to be looking up for me as of late.

Underemployment was the first thing that entered my head when I deviated from my suppossed career plan, but now I have no qualms about it anymore. I thought to myself that learning takes place even outside the classroom so I took things in stride and learned something new for myself. Besides, I'll be honest in disclosing to everyone in the FC who reads this that during my OJT, I grew dispassionate towards the Hospitality Industry. It was during the OJT that I realized that my heart was not in the industry anymore. It was somewhere else. I'm not talking about my perverted passions here if anyone is getting the wrong idea. :laugh

@ BP: I only got to work as an intern for 3 mos. in a hotel, then I started to hate it after just 1 month. I got bored to death with the cycle there. First thing in the morning is no prob coz I get to interact with guests. When the early afternoon hits until the early evening, I'm just cleaning some glassware, and silverware or folding a mountain of napkins just to pass the time. Things took a turn for the worse when I was assigned in the HR Dep't during my last month. I was the all around errand boy. Nope. I honestly had no idea that HRIM was a hotbed of babes. Here's a serious story that I'd like to share. CSB and San Beda were my fallback schools in case I'd flunk all the colleges I'd try for. Luck was rather rotten despite my serious eforts (and I mean serious) so I had to choose between the two. In the end I chose CSB coz it's aprroximately 45 min. away from home and I thought I'd shift to a business course after a term or two. What I'm about to say may surprise some in the FC, but I ABSOLUTELY HAD NO IDEA THAT THERE WERE A LOT OF "GORGEOUS BABES" THERE UNTIL I ATTENTED THE ORIENTATION. Why is it that a pervert of my calibre wasn't even aware of it you ask? You see, before I became a perv with a devil-may-care attitude, I was a self-centered, closet perv who didn't really give a rat's ass about anything but himself. I used to be like that a couple of years ago. Believe it.

Anyway, I didn't transfer to a business course coz I fell in love with the whole aspect of working in a hotel and makin some decent money. Of course, as I've mentioned, things took a turn and I eventually became dispassionate with the whole deal coz it started getting in the way of my real passion in life. Well, that's my story in a nutshell.

@ Jerome: I'm more fond of Merlot. Although I only drink on occassion.

@ Freebird: The reason why I'm putting up with my job is because I get to have some quality time for myself. If I'm working in a hotel right now, I'd be an angry wreck of a man with the shifts. I won't be able to eat right, train right or even sleep right.

Unfortunately, that simple plan was torn to shreds when my insensitive boss decided to shove me in some shitty review classes for a licensure exam for mutual funds on v-day. I mean I didn't ask for a damn raise or a month long vacation leave. All I've wanted was to enjoy a little bit of quality downtime. But fuck no.

It was a heated argument. His point was securing a good future in the business world by learning more from the trade through seminars, licensure exams, etc. I told him, that I understood his intentions; however, there must be a balance between work and life. He kept on going on and on about "necessary sacrifices", but I told him that the negatives far outweigh the benefits coz one will tend to miss out on other things that're important.

As for the Hapy Single's Day, I wish you luck in keeping your friends in line. Man, now I suddenly remember how I had to keep my friends on check a few years back during a party. They were drunk as hell. :laugh
