The reason why I'm sticking to Sony is because of games like FF, DMC4 (although it went multi-platform) and Gundam Musou. Other than those, I'm anticipating the release of another Gundam game along the lines of Gundam Seed Destiny: O.M.N.I. vs. Z.A.F.T. II Plus. Damn I just can't get enough of that game til now.

O_o there are a ton of SRW games on the PS2 and PSOne, and i dun see a reason why they would not make one for the PS3...

I also heard that the graphics ain't that great either. The Wii is more or less meant to be a "party console" because of it's line-up of games. I'd have to agree that Nintendo pretty much floods their console with tons of Mario and Zelda games. What Sony has got going for it's console is it's variety of titles released. Although, nothing noteworthy has been released yet for the PS3. Still, FF13 looks like a promising come on for us fans I think.

@ Xingzup: I'm not that big into PC gaming, but if it's one thing that I noticed about the PC is that one of the things that you have to do is make certain upgrades so that it would conform to today's gaming. I dunno exactly how much one would have to spend on the average just to upgrade the PC for gaming purposes, but I've heard from a buddy of mine that it's indeed cheaper in contrast to buying a console.

PC gaming is okay... but as pervy said, ITS FREAKISHLY EXPENSIVE... O_o how much do you have to pay for the top end VIDEO card cannot do the current crop of games at max detail settings?!? O_o the cheapest top of the line card today is the ATI HD 2900XT... and its just around P20k each... add to that the video card is not the only thing that runs your pc... you need a stonking fast processor, a motherboard, a few gigabytes of ram, hard disks (cuz you want to run it in raid to get max performance out of the disks), the case, the CPU, then the monitor, and then you have to worry about the mouse, keyboard, the optical drives, sound card, speakers and 2 of the most important parts in a PC... the Power Supply unit, and the cooling system (passive or water cooled)...

no manufacturer can give you that kind of PC... well unless you buy those ridiculously expensive AlienWare PCs... now if you're like me who builds PCs from scratch, you'll spend at least 100K+++ for that kind of PC that will play on max settings...

compare that to a console... you get a dedicated machine to play games that displays everything @ max quality every time... O_o not only that, the 3rd gen consoles does more than just play games... the PS3 is a blu-ray player and it has SETI@home... so when you're connected to the internet and your PS3 is idle, it can use that electricity and spare processing power to find causes and cures for disease by helping the SETI@home project... the wii can access the internet by downloading a version of opera... the 360, well i dunno anything about the 360... but it might do something else XD

yeah... 100K... oh wait... not just 100K... its more than 100k... then you have to include all the software shit... especially if you want it to have an original version of the windows OS... that will set you back 16k... (retail version) or 5K+++ for the OEM version (we're talking about vista home premium here)

in general yes... 100K+++ the desktop i built way back in 2005 was worth 45k... a the time it can be considered a mid range PC... but... gah! i tried installing vista (i participated in the vista beta testing way back in summer 2006) and it was PAINFULLY SLOW... O_o and the best that it can do in gaming is HL2 with medium graphics settings @ 800x600 with AAx1... i can't play FEAR or any of the newer games... @ max quality... even need for speed bogged down when more AI cars came out...

Heh. I wasn't necessarily talking about the ultimate gaming PC. Like the ones I have, 2 laptops around 10k - 15k pesos (I'm only estimating). Works like a charm, no hangups. Never crashed on me once. I'm saving all my money on a gaming PC. That said, most of the games I play / want to play on the PS2 / XBox have either been ported to the PC, or I have played it through emulators (Final Fantasy 7-10). Forget about the kiddy games on Wii, I agree it's more of a party console, though sometimes enjoyable. But what about those who play MMORPGs and RTS games (Command And Conquer, Warcraft, Starcraft). All I'm saying is that compared to the rest of the consoles out there, regardless of price, I think it is still the best option to get a PC capable of gaming well than spend your money on these consoles. That, and the latest console I own is the PSP and my trusty 10 year old PS1.

dun worry xingy... nobody is flaming you... :amuse just explaining our opinions why we think console gaming is better than PC gaming...

i dunno about that... 10-15k laptops where have you bought those?!? O_o i mean... even second hand lapys that would give you decent gaming performance would go for 23k and up... (i've been looking for a laptop recently..)

and yes... you can play games on a mid range setup but you will have to tweak down the visual settings which take some of the experience out of the game... (the stunning visual experience takes into account at least 20% of the game experience but it depends on the gamer...)

as for emulators, well... right now, the PS2 emulators still fail... big time... they need the best computers just to get the frame rates up to lets say 30fps... and thats still in LQ mode... i never got to play FFX on my PS2 emulator on this PC... as it only ran at a meager 12fps...

as for RTS, well yeah i agree with you... RTS games ONLY WORK ON PCs... RTS+14+ buttons = fail... O_O but imo thats the only thing that goes for the PC... RTS...

now for online games... as an online gamer in the past (i stopped playing just last summer), there is only one thing i can say... its a waste of time, effort, and money... forget about all those free to play argument... its not free at all... you'll still end up paying for the extra services because you want to get the full experience of the game... plus, you dun wanna be left behind ne? and its much more expensive compared to pay to play... as an example: ragnarok/rose only cost me P100/account per week... (i had 2 bot accounts on RO... XD) now when i switched to e-games i spent at least P300 a week on e-points... until i got fed up and stopped playing... i only played ran for about 4-5 months including the beta testing days... and i also find playing with people whom you do not know annoying... yes you might find a few friends but you are more likely to encounter stupid, greedy wombles, and two faced half wits while playing online games... especially the MMOGs

lastly... i think its cheaper to buy a console ever 5-6 years compared to upgrading a PC during the same time... in fact you would not be upgrading... chances are, you could have already replaced that PC after 3-4 years... O_o

like now... i really want to ditch my PC and build another one... why? i can't play the latest games now... O_o because its too slow... and back in 2005, i spent 45k on it... almost 2 years down the road, i already replaced/upgraded a couple of parts... but still it can't play the latest games...

imo the best thing to do is to maintain a PC that can surf the net, download and watch anime, play all your music files, edit videos and pictures, and play all those 5-10 minute stress buster games available on the net... then have a console for the serious gaming... BTW: i hate dota... =___= maybe i might love starcraft 2... but i bet i can't play it on this PC... not when this PC is already struggling with CIV4...

I've actually stopped playing games ever since college. I only got to play PS2 games when a friend of mine brings his unit to my house during sleep-overs. That's why I was able to play some games for the PS2.

I was planning to buy a PS2 unit since it's so cheap nowadays, but as I said, I really want to play MGS4 and it's a PS3 game, so I cancelled my plans of buying a PS2.

As for PC gaming, I already graduated from that. I just lost the interest in PC games, I guess. And yeah, it's because it's so expensive.

Sorry, it wasn't 10k-15k. It was more 40k-55k, didn't calculate the rates well. You do have a point with tweaking the graphics, but as long as it's playable on 800x600 for the new games, that's fine with me. I mostly play games for the gore in FPS or the plot. Right now, I got Half Life, NBA Live 07 and GTA San Andreas. My laptop plays Far Cry on the highest setting, and plays NBA pretty well, so it's enough for me. For now. I used to play online games, Ragnarok for one. But I got pretty bored and left. Then there's Maple Story, which is free. And fun, as long as you've got your cousins playing with you at the same time (around 4 of them).

Although there are some games that are worth playing on consoles (Guitar Hero, God Of War, etc.), each of my cousins has got a different console (a GameCube, and a PS2) and both will be upgraded in about a year or so. And they've got their own laptops, so if we do get bored, there's always LAN.

I just expressed my opinion, heh! Anyways, enough with this argument! Closed! This is the longest post I've ever written in this thread.

give me a budget that i can work with and i'll give you options... that is if its a desktop... if you're looking for a laptop, then... you're better of buying a branded one... =P

i maintain 2 pcs, a laptop, and a small home network in this house... i even fix some of my friend's pcs... XD in fact my DLSU barkada gave me 2 names... DO (because i look like a discipline officer) and Techie guru... XD

I think I ought to listen to that. All that agression and testosterone will be a big help to me whenever I train especially now that I'm approaching the end of the year.
