sorry i took too much time before i can relply... had to do my usual morning routine of playing around with the dogs, releasing my aggression on the punching bag and then eating a very heavy breakfast... :amuse

nothing new happens in imaginary tokyo... mostly all the regular stuff... girls getting raped everywhere, boobs being touched, people dating, bombs exploding, gundams walking arround and fighting... Lambda drives being used, AE86's pwning RX-7s and pretty much every other car in the streets, crazy mascots stomping on male parts, and uhm... more people reading manga... XD

Sony has brought the PS3's price down because the production cost of the newer PS3's are lower... during the american launch, the PS3 units had PS2 hardware inside them so that they be 100% backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games... unfortunately that additional PS2 hardware made the production cost of the PS3 go higher than the 599 price tag... so they were actually loosing money everytime they sell a unit... =__= when the EU launch came, they made some mods so that the PS3 would be cheaper... and one of the mods was to remove the PS2 hardware and rely on software emulation... which was a good move in terms of lowering the costs... but it sacrificed the backwards compatibility with the older games... meaning NOT ALL of the PS1 and PS2 games run on the PS3 as promised...

Del was also right about the PS3 not selling well in the US. I mean, not much people would readily shell out USD 600.00 (if I'm correct) just to buy a gaming console with not much games in it's library. With North American consumers becoming more price conscious, it was indeed the logical thing to do if Sony wants to improve the PS3's sales.

Other than that, yep Sousske, they were indeed selling at a loss because of the PS2 hardware in it. It sucks that the PS3 won't be totally backwards compatible, but since we, the consumers want a price drop, it was one of those necessary things that Sony had to do. I don't like the move, but since it means a relatively cheaper price, I might as well go with it.

With a meager salary like mine, I can only afford to buy it after 3 years of saving. :cry

That's kind of what pisses me off about the 360. Not all Capcom games are backwards compatible and some of my favorite Xbox games are made by Capcom.
i heard that the 360 should have been backwards compatible with all XBOX games... and i've also heard that the 360 is full of bugs, problems, and other unwanted stuff... and that the new 360 never seemed to resolve any of those problems from the old 360... =___= well at least the PS3's current set of updates (for those who didn't know, yes the PS3 needs internet connection so it can be updated...) made it somewhat better...

Yeah.. a bunch of stuff isn't backwards compatible. It's just that the only games I'm playing right now are Street Fighter 3 Third Strike and Capcom vs. SNK 2 which both can't be played on the 360.

The 360 having Virtual Tennis makes up for it though, at least until I play it. I have to see it it's just as fun to play as it was on the Dreamcast. That was my favorite game on the DC. ^_^

The problem with Sony is that the Blu Ray technology is it's biggest gambit for the PS3. Then again, that's business. You take risks. Sometimes the risk pays off and sometimes it doesn't.
