View Full Version : Anime screw-up...
It's nothing fancy, maybe you noticed it by yourself or simply didn't pay attention to it because it's not that important.
In the fight between Gin and Hitsugaya the size of Gin's sword seems to change every other scene. And that when he didn't even release his soulcutter:
Pretty much at the beginning of the fight. You can see that Gin's sword has its regular length.

A few scenes later: Ichimaru's sword has nearly grown to the size of Hitsugayas. A real magician, this Gin...

... and back to normal. Amazing. :P

That's very easy to notice and I'm sure everyone did.
The Bleach anime animators are somewhat sloppy as seen by the poor quality artwork...This doesn't come as a suprise.
Also when he is approaching Rukia and says "I can save you, just kidding", Gin has a long sheath...Even though I don't even he even has a sheath to begin with.

Did you forget that when you attain bankai, you no longer need to call out its name to release it? :P
OMG, yeah! That HAS to be the reason! :P
I wish this were a valid excuse for the poor animation, though... ^^;

though the problem here is, why did he say the name at the end of the battle then(when he was about to kill hinamori)?

For effect probably. Or maybe to enhance the power(kinda like reciting a full kidou spell or knowing the name of your shikai attack).
I mean, Renji also called out Zabimaru when he used it against Aizen unlike against Byakuya, Byakuya always calls it out. Tousen, Mayuri, Komamura, Hitsugaya, and most others seem to to.
I think its mainly either for effect or perhaps so that viewers know what it is. I mean its similar how in Naruto they call out the name of their jutsu and yet other times they don't(Kawarimi mainly)
If it is for power purposes it makes sense because Gin and Renji both needed it immediately(to fight Hitsugaya and stiop Byakuya's shikai), whereas when they called it out, they had time and probably wanted to maximize its effectiveness.
I still don't think it was done on purpose at all. Shinsou always extended to very great lengths at very fast speed. Following the fight between Gin and Hitsugaya and seeing as the size of the sword sometimes changed just when they animated their motions from different angles it appears like a simple but still pretty bad mistake from the anime-crew.

It's called "perspective", i.e. the excuse that animators like to come up with when they screw up.. :laugh
Well, maybe he is just playing around with his shinsou. Maybe for certain attacks, he prefer it short rather than long? Besides, the fact that he doesn't have to call out the zankpaktou's name once he reached bankai might be the reason for it. Or just plain bad animation. :notrust

If I'm not mistaken, can't Gin's sword stretch or shoot out?

There's another mistake also, when Ichigo was saving Rukia for the second time, Ichigo's bandaid on his face disappear sometimes.

To use logic to cover it up, we now know that skilled Shinigami with bankai can release their zanpukto at will with no invocation.
I doubt they thought of that at all though, of course, it doesnt work that way in anime. If it was on purpose, we would have seen a couple of shots of it moving from one length to the other.
If I'm not mistaken, can't Gin's sword stretch or shoot out?yeah, and since he's a captain that has bankai he doesn't need to call out its name:notrust
I noticed that the first time I saw it.
Made me think that Shinsou extends whenever it feels the need to.

it's easy to cover with that excuse but he was not constantly changing it's lengh thoughout the fight

Yes, people who have Bankai can release their Shikai without calling them... Gin called it when he was about to killing Hinamori because it was a scene that... had to be dramatised. (wrong word? How can I explain that? It's used to make it... crucial?)
Like Urahara vs. Yamii scene. He reflected the Cero without calling Benihime's name, and then, he released his Shikai again but he called it that time.
it's easy to cover with that excuse but he was not constantly changing it's lengh thoughout the fight
How can you know? :)

From what we've seen Shinsou just doesn't extend slowly and quietly then stop. It shoots out with enormus force like a bullet.
It was just the animators being stupid.
