View Full Version : Choppers' new voice?
For those of you who are completely caught up with OP, you probably have realized there is a new VA for Chopper. The new VA made his debut in ep.254. I guess my question to everybody is what do you think of Choppers' new voice? Do you like it more than the old one or do you think it doesn't suit Chopper? I personally prefer Choppers' old voice. It was unique and could get annoying at times and that's what I loved about it. The new voice is not bad but it just sounds too normal. I dunno. Maybe the new voice will take time to get used to but Chopper just doesn't feel the same right now imo.

Is it permanent? I heard Chopper's VA is sick.
^Really? I dunno. All I know is I heard a different voice. Usually when that happens in an anime, it's permanent. Just look at what happened to Kikumaru in POT. That guys voice kept on changing and eventually it just became one. But I hope you are right and that is indeed the case.

"Ikue Ohtani has fallen ill and will be taking a break from voice acting. Fuji TV states that, starting with the January 22 episode (#141) of Konjiki no Gash Bell, she will be replaced by Konami Yoshida. She voices titular character, Gash. On One Piece, where she voices Chopper, Fuji TV states that she will be replaced by Kazue Ikura, also starting with the January 22 episode (#154). No time frame for her return to voice acting was stated, however both replacements were referred to as temporary."

^I see. So for now this can be considered as a temporary issue. Cool. What do you guys think of the new VA anyways?

I think it sounds.. weird, the old voice was perfect. It isn't bad though but it might take awhile to get used to it.

The new voice is horrible.
Anyway, the VA is on maternal leave isn't she?

Didn't someone take over for Nami for about 10 episodes?

Since I forgot about the VA change I didn't notice a thing. Seems like since I forgot I really didn't care.

yeah, Nami had a different VA during the Little Garden arc. I personally couldn't tell the difference. Okay...it was a LITTLE noticable, but not enough to make a big deal out of.

Really? She had a different VA? I didn't notice at all. Maybe I because I wasn't listening well enough, but still. I'd say that was a damn good replacement.
Oh yeah. I remember that. I got all scared when I was hearing a different Nami. I just got so used to the old one that it took me by surprise. Same thing happened recently with chopper. The temp VA is not that bad. The voice just feels too mellow and normal for chopper.
What ep does the change occur ?
Im new(ish) to one piece at ep 105 but for most animes ive always had issures when they change a voice once i get use to a VA i cant handle it when they change :(
heres hoping to a speedy recovery for the oringnal

Ugh, I hated Nami's temp VA. Thank god it never became permanent. The difference was painfully obvious in my book..
