From what I've heard, he would have had to have been born in the warmer months. If the story of the three wisemen is true, then they would have needed warmer weather. December isn't plausible in that regard. Remember, they were tending sheep and suchlike when they supposedly saw this star or whatever that lead them to Jesus. Also, you have to allow time for the fact that their journey would probably have taken a couple months.

But that's just a guess...

when was jesus born

To narrow it down he was born around easter sunday. The bible alludes to his death and birth being around the same time of the yr. Also Christmas is celebrated on the day it is because that is the day of the soltice, which was celebrated by pagan religion and picked up by christianity.
