Killing Hollows...

In one of the earlier episodes, it was explained why quincy's were exterminated. (when they kill a hollow, they destroy the soul) and only a soul slayer can "clense" the soul..

So what happens when inoue or chad kill a hollow? do they destroy the soul? or because their powers are borrowed from Ichigo, they clense it?

What about if a shinigami kills a hollow using demon arts?

i would say that a shinigami using demon arts will clense it. thats the whope purpose of shinigamis so... about chad and inoue i have no idea. i would do a wild guess and say they clense it since they got the powers from a shinigami but who knows

Eh, I doubt they disrupt the balance THAT much by killing Hollows with their powers. I don't think we're going to have a subplot about this or anything.

Yea, I think they've destroyed the balance a lot more by knocking out so many shinigami.

As for Kidou, I think they actually cleanse them. I mean, Kidou are a class of Shinigami training like Zanjutsu and hand to hand combat and whatnot, so they should also be able to cleanse as well.

I got no frikin clue. I think though, that sence demon arts were designed by death gods they have the same efect as a soul slayer. As for Chad and Inoue I think they do "purify" the holows sort of a(remember when they fought holows in the shinigami vs. quinci episodes) looked like purification to me.

Visually they look the same between Quincy and Shinigami killing them, its just a matter of what happens to them.

You raise a good point MB52. Truthfully, I don't think we'll ever know. Orihime and Chad don't have the same powers as a Quincy or a Shinigami, and their methods are probably different. They don't have a bow or katana either. Who knows what happens to the soul?

It's a bit of a stretch to say that Chad and Orhime cleanse Hollow because of Ichigo, I'd say. After all he only awakened them.

So I'd say they totally destroy the Hollows, just like Quincy do.
Still, so far they've killed one Hollow each, so it's not like it's going to cause much of a problem. Hundreds (maybe thousands) of Quincys sought out and destroyed Hollows for a living, which was enough to cause a serious imbalance. A couple here and there won't matter, methinks.

As for Kidou Jutsu, I think that cleanses the Hollow just like a Zanpaktou since it's all formed from the Shinigami's reitsu.

Guess its same thing with Uhara's kids too. One kills them with a machine gun, other with a club.

Well Urahara's kids are questionable, Urahara is a shinigami and Tessai uses Kidou, so I'd think its possible for them to use it. I believe Ururu was said to have "anti-shinigami powers", but I think that counts similarly

Don Kanonji just activated his own powers from his high reiatsu, like Sado and Orihime. Same deal with destroying hollows.

I'm pretty sure a Kido'D hollow is still cleansed.

But I have no clue what happens if Chad or Orihime kills one. I mean they've killed like 2 total in the whole series so no balance is being disrupted.

Haha, yeah true, they havent killed many. But you never know, maybe later they'll become super hollow killing machines. (I'm doubting that..)

Its clearly said that Inoure's and chads powers came from Ichigo, so it being his power would lead you to believe that they clense the souls. but then again as said above how many hollows did they kill anyway? :laugh

I am going to guess they clense hollows... mostly because their power comes from within them, just like a death god their powers are an expression of their spirit energy. A quincy on the other hand simply absorbs and manipulates the energy around him. to be honest its probably just a lost plot thread...

on a side note. Ichigo did not give chad and crew their powers he simply awoke their powers... like a jump start. Its kind of like rukia did not give ichigo his powers she just jumpstarted them.

I think even though their powers came from ichigo they would just kill hollows. Because the fact of the matter is they are not Shinigami.

if they do/did destroy hollows the shinigami wouldve known i guess. ( not about the powers, but the absence of some souls :) )

The problem with the Quincy they destroyed too much of them they were like killing machines...
Chad and Inoue kill a few hollows Ichigo easly balances it:wink

I brought this up a while ago and the consensus really was that we can't possibly tell, and even if it is detrimental, just Chad and Inoue alone can't tip the scale that much.
