What did franklin discover? Electricity? Haha..

I'd go with Einstein since he provided actual advances in science. 1905 was maybe the greatest year in science last century (or even in science ever). Einstein published his papers on special relativity, brownian motion, the photoelectric effect and E=MC^2. His discoveries that year would all garner nobel prizes if they had been distributed to 4 different scientists.

But thats more accomplishments than "discoveries". He did a heck of a lot of things, but his discovery pretty much was that one kite experiment.
