Anybody getting tired of anime? I used to be totaly adicted, now I feel like my fondness for it is kind of slipping away. I'm interested in so many things, and anime just isn't one of thoes things anymore.

Is this happening to anybody else? Or do you think you'll ever get tired of it and find something diffrent?

well im 22 and i still like anime enough to pursue a career in it. and yes I fear for my childrens well being. but i have found my love of anime has changed over time. the shows i use to love dont intrest me as much any more. stuff happens and people change over time its normal. i dont think you will ever completely grow out of it. its like gi joe when i was a kid i used to love that show but now when i look at it its still fun but just dosent give me that same feeling anymore.

When the Quality of anime goes down. So do my love for it. I'm 27 years old. I lived through the up and downs of anime. After the Late 90 anime surge. Trigun, Bebop, Etc Etc. I really wasn't feeling anime at. Hell at one time one of my jobs was selling it. Like everything else it came back into full swing. When shows Like Naruto, Gundam Seed, FullMetal Alchemist, and Scyred showed up. AS long as they try to make new fresh show. I 'll still watch.

Well... I want to become a mangaka, so I think that explains if I'll ever get tired of anime or not...

I started watching Anime when I was about 12, now 10 years later I like it even more since I have access to more than the once a week late night thing on channel 4. When they stop making things I enjoy, I'll stop liking it.

Like what everyone said, my interest in anime will change if the quality of anime changes, but until then... rock on big eyed anime chicks =)

Anime is one of those past-times that when you've strayed away from it and then come back after a while, you cant think how you ever staryed away in the first place.

I'll probably never stop watching anime, there will probably be times where I won't be able to watch it much because I don't have the time, but I don't see myself ever stopping

I think the only way ill stop watching is to become blind, or all electricity on the earth somehow vanishes leaving my tv/computer dead

For me, watching anime is like watching any other show. I don't give much importance to it, I consider as very unique, though.

I'm picky when it comes to anime. I don't watch any anime just for the heck of it. I choose my anime. Preferably mecha... :D

Anyway, as long as there is a good show to watch, I'll still be watching it, nonetheless. :)

Anime and manga are so much more entertaining than most of what America has to offer. I may outgrow my interest in some shonen series', but not anime in general.

Right now, i'm too addicted to naruto, gantz and Gundam Seed Destiny to think straight. I'll think about this once those shows are over.

Well, compared to many people, I'm fairly new to all of this...it has only been about three years since the obsession hit me. However, based on the way anime has hooked me, and considering that there are people twice my age on these forums, I can’t see myself losing interest anytime in the foreseeable future.

Then again, if we go through a long stretch of nothing but crap, I might change my mind.

My friends Dad is 41 and likes Naruto, Some DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, and the likes. Didn't start watching it till my friend did. They all seem to enjoy it. I don't like much anime, but the stuff I do like I keep watching.

Like others it all depends on the anime coming out, I mean I don't like something just because it's anime. I'm 20 and I've liked the stuff for almost 10 years and not slowing down. For a while I thought the industry was totally doomed in the early 00's but it's thankfully gotten back on track

Well, my bro's 26 and he still likes the animes he used to, and I'm a lot more obsessive then he is. I don't think my love for anime will ever die, it's touched my heart too many times

There is just so much variety to anime that I don't see myself ever getting tired of it, and I've actively watched anime for going on ten years now (not including all the anime I watched when I was younger, like Robotech, but was too dense to realize it was actually anime).

There are anime series out there for just about every demographic group, so there's something for everyone. And yes, there are some bad series out there, but there are just so many other good ones, that I can't see myself growing out of it any time soon.

This is an old thread but it was an interesting topic so I figured i'd give it a bump.

As for me I don't see myself ever getting tired of anime, hell theres nothing better then coming home from a hard days work and getting to sit back and watch one of your favorite animes. Being 24 I sometimes wonder if i'm outgrowing it, but then again I know people older then me who like anime and I figure i'll always like anime just like how I like videogames. Its something that will be with me forever.

Well it looks like I posted in this 4 years ago and my answer still stands. I'm about to turn 24 and I still haven't grown out of it 14 years after getting into it.

Never! I go through phases though. Sometimes I don't watch anything for awhile, but then I hear of or find something that catches my interest and I'm hooked. The feelings I have for these series still burn and sometimes I go back and watch older things just to see if they were as amazing as I remembered. The things I love are still great to me.

Meh my fanboy attitude towards anime will go down for sure. But I doubt I'll lose all interest in anime.... though I've lost nearly all interest in TV (seriously, everything on it is so crap or unoriginal)

Nope.

As cliche' as it might sound, anime is a part of my life, and has been for quite a few years now. There is always something to watch, always something to entertain me, make me drool, laugh, get excited about, ect.

Provided there is anime in the next world, ill be a fan of it there too :amuse

Nope and I doubt I'll get sick of any of the ongoing series I watch to. Sometimes I have a slump of a few months of not caring but that happens with anything. I currently don't play many games and have no intention to or buy any anytime soon. But no doubt I'll be back at some point. It always happens!

Anime has it's ups and downs for me.
However Manga, I'm completly addicted to it

Kikyo
08-27-2008, 12:37 PM
Nope, there are ups and downs naturally. Quality isn't always good some years. But there is always something new to watch and really good older shows/movies/ovas to re-watch.

The older you get, the more your tastes change and you find different things to enjoy. There are more than enough anime genres to cater to pretty much every taste and age group.

Even though my account is like 2 years old, I haven't really opened to so much more anime like a year ago. I'm 21 and I really don't see myself ever giving up on anime. If someone did introduce me to anime when I was younger, I still believe I would be this addicted as I am now. Interesting though, I didn't think there were anime addicts that old though, from what the other poster said, 40-50ish.

I know eventually that I will start trying to get visual novel games, regular novels and I will probably read mangas that didn't get animated. But I don't have time to keep track with all that yet. Anyways, Otaku for life.

I probably won't watch/read as much as I'm watching/reading these days but I'll still watch/read the occasional anime/manga. I mean, anime/manga is just another form of entertainment to me as TV is to others and I doubt many people would just stop watching TV after a certain amount of years.

My co-worker would be surprised to hear this. She's 45. We borrow dvd's from each other all the time.

Sadly unless you're japanese being mangaka is pretty much fucking impossible.

Moogoogaipan
08-28-2008, 03:04 AM
Possibly. But not anytime soon. Maybe once I read/watch all the good animes and mangas I'll take a couple years break and see whats new.

Doom85
08-28-2008, 04:25 PM
Doubt it, and if I do have a temporary break, it probably won't happen anytime soon. I mean, I've only been serious about anime for 2 years, and about 85% of the shows I've seen are from this decade. If I ever run out of good recent stuff to watch, there's ton of old school gems waiting to be watched.
