Just finished it. Watched it in two sittings, with the break between the sittings an eight hour nap. There are only 14 episodes, and about half of them made me cry my eyes out. Episode 11 was really hard to see end, and of course the last episode was a tear jerker.
I think I want to try to write a movie script based on the anime. It'd be one of the saddest movies ever I think. :cry

Nope. Its about a guy whose girlfriend gets hit by a car and goes into a coma. She's like that for three years, and when she wakes up, the guy is now dating her best friend. He now must decide what to do about having two girls in love with him.

It seems a fair number of people knew about the series, but there wasn't any discussion or mention of it (at least none that I noticed or remember).

Torrentspy I think. Whatever was linked to me in the Divisions thread. It had some .rar files in it with all the stuff.

Awesome, and I agree. The soundtrack is definately my favorite anime soundtrack so far. Except Beck, but that's sorta a given.
Definitely joinage here. Awesome, awesome series. Don't remember any another anime making me cry so much.
I agree. I cried in probably half of the episodes, and probably would have cried in the other half if it wasn't ruined by the chicks in the restraunt. And you can have co-owner if you want.

Yeah, I searched first, didn't find a FC, but found like one or two threads discussing the series, but neither were as popular as this thread here already is. Plus, there were like four or five threads talking about the most depressing anime series, ha ha ha.
If someone makes a FC banner, not only will I sport it, but I'll also rep that person.

And yeah, Daikuuji and Mayu were definitely the comedic relief throughout the series. They probably didn't want us to kill ourselves from crying so much. :laugh

A question to any of you who have watched both KGNE and Saikano: Is this show more sad than Saikano is?
If it is, I am not sure my heart could take it. :arg
BlueCheese
01-15-2006, 03:21 PM
Hmmmm yeah but different kind of sad I think.
Lingz
01-15-2006, 03:22 PM
I've the Saikano and KGNE.
IMO, I think KGNE was more sad. I mean, Saikano was very depressing indeed, but it got abit dull to watch where as KGNE has a very interesting plot, and is very close to real life situation.
jkingler
01-15-2006, 03:23 PM
Holy shit! More sad?! I think I am going to need some Kleenex and maybe some counseling after I watch this. :scry
BlueCheese
01-15-2006, 03:25 PM
Well I think it would be personal opinion as to which is sadder. It's just that KGNE is a sadness that people can believe better, so perhaps it hits them harder than Saikano does.
Lingz
01-15-2006, 03:30 PM
Yeah, I agree.
Aswel as I think that KGNE is just an overall, better anime.

Man, I am on episode 2, and I am already contemplating alcohol...
This reminds me a lot of Kanon, which is also really good, if you can get past the ginormous eyes which are mandatory for each and every female character XD
It is also very depressing. It is also very good.
Lingz
01-16-2006, 08:21 PM
Haha, yeah. It already gets really depressing from episode 2 onwards, definitely keep watching. Another factor I like about the anime is the music, very well done.

Saikano > KGNE in the "Oh, that's so sad I'm going to die" department.

Why didn't they just keep the Japanese title, or the translated title?
Setsuna Asuka

Read this:
The Japanese licensor created the English name "Rumbling Hearts" for the English speakiing territories. We are adding a sub-title "Kimi ga Nozomu Eien" to the logo and full name to avoid any confusion.

Lingz
02-19-2006, 08:53 AM
Rumbling Hearts is actually the name for the Opening theme song of KGNE, maybe they just ripped the OP's name instead of using Kimi ga Nozomu Eien which would obviously cause confusion.
BlueCheese
02-19-2006, 09:12 AM
Besides if it will say Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien as well there is no problem.
Lingz
02-19-2006, 09:16 AM
There is as stated before, it will be too hard for the americans to even pronounce the name itself, i.e;
Kenshin > Samurai X
It's alot easier for them if it was changed into an english name.
This might not always be the case (such as Naruto) as some japaneses can be easier to pronounced than others. Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien is not an easy name to pronounce.

nalex43
02-19-2006, 06:22 PM
yeah it had this goofy looking guy that was always daydreaming about gundams or whatever and saving akane from evil robots. it was stupid of me to lay eyes on it.

no idea. i'll explain robots. the main character was like a mecha freak and would always go off on stupid tangents about piloting one of them to save akane and fight the evil mecha lord or something. basically failed comedy about a guy's wandering imagination. needless to say i was stupefied (is that how you spell it?)

It comes from a Renai game, I don't really know more than that.
Sorry for me being stupid.. but whats "Renai"?
BlueCheese
05-15-2006, 06:30 PM
Well Renai literally means romance. From wikipedia
Renai game is Japanese for romantic game. In the Japanese language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_language), a romantic game is a genre of adventure video games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game) focusing on romantic interactions with anime (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime)-style characters, often referred to as dating sims (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dating_sim) or visual novels (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_novel) in the West. In English usage, the term "ren'ai game" can refer to these Japanese games or fan games produced by English speakers.
In this case well lets just say it contains hentai elements I think.
