Ptolemy's Gate by Jonathan Stroud. Third book in the Bartimaeus Trilogy. i just finished reading it and i loved it. i liked the ending a lot. i liked it when Nathaniel dismissed Bartimaeus at the end. awesome, just like Ptolemy.
I also liked how Kitty went to the Other Place. and also Kitty and Nathaniel's semi-relationship.
has anyone else read this?

I read that a few months ago, it was pretty good, although I'd still rank the Golem's Eye as my favourite part of the trilogy. I still feel special for working out the whole Mr. Pennyfeather being the villain thing halfway through the Golem's Eye. Good times. Oh Faquarl, will your wacky antics ever end?

...well, his antics did end. Nathaniel made sure of that.
Yeah, what an ending that was indeed. I think Nathaniel moved up to #2 or 3 on Bartimaeus' list of favorite humans. Great job on Stroud's part. Though the fans of the unfulfilled pairing will be wholly disappointed. I'll admit, I was, a bit, too.
Nathaniel died like a man, breaking his promise to her in the process.

I just finished the book. I loved the series! The end was great even though I was disappointed Nathaniel died :cry.
Too bad that we didn't get to see the relationship between Nathaniel and Kittcy develop. Kitty's line "So much for you promises." was definitely powerful...it made me want to cry >_<

Definitely one of my favorite overall series, and I actually feel that Ptolemy's Gate was my favorite of the three.
One thing I was wondering, though, is how Kitty said
"So much for your promises." Obviously, we know Nathaniel is dead, but it seems to indicate that Kitty believes Bartimaeus to be dead, as well, since they were in the same body and all.
Do you think that Kitty would ever try to summon Bartimaeus again, for whatever reason? It'd probably be a happier ending, with a bit of reminiscing about "John Mandrake vs. Nathaniel."
Speaking of John Mandrake vs. Nathaniel, I found that to be a very interesting dynamic, showing how different Nathaniel became in the world of magicians. It's touching how he managed to turn away from Mandrake and become Nathaniel again at the end of the book.

Ah i finished the whole series in a week about a month ago... Ptolemy's gate was quite good...
Nathaniel's final moments were quite cool... he went out like a proper man but the side of me who in more interested in romance, is a little saddened that he and Kitty didnt get a happily ever after :(
