I've read all of the Drizzt stuff, but I can't say I greatly enjoyed it. When I read the Icewind Dale trology I was still a "kid", but I've read so much better fantasy since...

It is for sure a must read for any big fantasy fans, though some of the later Drizzt books were much better, namely the Spine of the World series.

I haven't actually read the Drizzt Stuff yet, I want to, just haven't gotten around to it.

Well, start with Homeland then, and then all that Legact, Starless Night, Seige of Darkness, Passage to Dawn stuff. Then comes the Spine of the World books, and I think there are four of those. And finally the last set with the orcs.

^ What he says.

Sadly.

I read the Icewind Dale trilogy, it was ok. It was great when I was a fantasy obsessed teen with a roleplaying game obsession. :D

But, in retrospect, they aren't all that well written, and I doubt I could read them again.

Both the game and the book is set in the same place, but the book has nothing to do with the game. At all.

Icewind Dale is a pretty decent fantasy read, but there are better. Some of the later books are much, much more entertaining. I'd recommend them for sure. And you sorta have to read the early novels to really understand what's taking place in the later ones.

All Drizzt books are kindof 'light reading'. Don't expect too much and you won't be dissapointed. Only part of the books which show development would be Drizzt's character & his introspections on life..etc.

I have one of the books, my friend got it for me for a birthday a couple of years back.

At the time it was too boring, so I never got more than 50 pages into it. I might give it a try later.

Which book was it?

Greenwood and Cunningham are both pretty good. I don't know if I like Salvatore as much as I did in high school.
