Are the School Rumble OVAs any good? I've been disappointed with a lot of OVAs lately, so I'm not even sure if I want to bother downloading this.

I haven't watched Azumanga Daioh, but I have seen the spin-off series Pani Poni Dash though. They pay homage to School Rumble, using their style of humour, to the way they deliver their scenes. They even have some of the more memorable quotes on the blackboards.

I suspect that SR is very popular in Japan. How many series have a chance to release a second season? If you haven't seen the series, then you're seriously missing out on some great humour, with a touch of seriousness. It's just a little depressing watching all the unrequited love in the series.

I can also understand how Harima fell in love with Tenma. She is so kawai! :love

Yeah, I watched the 2 OVAs, it's more of a side story that wasnt relevant to the actual plot and was abit of a dissapointment in all honsety. But really lookinf forward that the second season (TV) will be airing soon, I hope that put a good ending to the show aswel since the ending in the first season felt rather incomplete.

I must say that I enjoyed the two OVAs. Granted they weren't as funny as some select episodes in the first series I thought they were still good. The ones with Yakumo, Harima/Yakumo, Lala/Imadori, hotsprings and prehistoric rumble were my faves.

Yeah those were two of my faves as well. Also it made sense to not follow the main story considering that they were OVAs. They hardly every follow the main story. Plus since the 2nd season's coming out, it's not too disapointing imo. I will admit that they tended to go more towards the "special" moments rather than go for funny moments though.

And also Yakumo, Eri and Harima seemed to be the stars of the OVAs for some reason. :laugh

How can we since like 60 odd chapters were released recently in the space of a week or two, now catching up considerably with the raws i believe or close to it... I got all of them now, i just need to read them.. if anyone is interested, i pitched the idea of making a manga pimping thread for school rumble just because its one pain in the ass to get, to some people in the anime thread and they thought it was a good idea.. this way more people can get up to date with the manga easier

Heh, sorry guys. We disagree regarding the Tenma issue. I'm not a Tenma fan...i'm fine with her becoming a secondary character. She's too ditzy...too unintelligent for me. That was ridiculous when she got mad at Harima (the confusion regarding the manga). Don't get me wrong...she's not bad, but there are better characters to spend time on in my opinion. Yakumo, Mikoto, Hanai, Harima, Eri, Lala, Imadori, Ichiju, Togou, etc.

Yukata is one of the forms of Kimono. Except it's a lot easier to dress in and is usually worn in summer. The time that concert was done was in summer as well. smile-big

The musical is Harima & Tenma's VAs and some actors/actoresses who dress up in SR characters and does a short live-action version of the anime.

The concert is where the VAs and OP/ED/Insert singers gather and yeah - sing live.
