Ok I checked three times on non-naruto forums before this showed up. I think my computer is playing up well not my computer but my phone lines crackling so everything is taking ages! Hi, I'd like to join. But I want to ask about something about the relationship between Tohru, Yuki, and Kyou.

Isn't Yuki out of the picture now? I mean, he stated he thought Tohru as a mother and Tohru had, I think, romantic feelings for Kyou. Or did something come up in the newest chapters that put Yuki back in the race(Is a Yuki and Tohru shipper so hoping there is -__-)? I haven't caught up to newest releases.

Kire it isn't the Year of the Dog yet it's still the Rooster untill the end of the month. Anyway I had a thought about the battle and I figured we need to do a poll. You now how some of the threads have polls at the top of the page, we should do one, however, I don't know how you do them. We should put our posters in our sigs and get people to come and vote, ha ha. I also can't upload on to imageshack, it keeps going to an error page. Is anyone else have trouble? I still can't upload my images for the fight. My faulty phone line is driving me nuts it's taken me 15 mins just write a reply so much for broadband.

~if you are having trouble with imageshack, try photobucket...I used to only do imageshack, but they pissed me off one too many times..photobucket is free also, and i like their set up better....

About the battle~Yeah i agree a poll is very usefull...i'll try it i dont know if it will let me, but if not i'll do it the old fashioned way..count each and every vote in the posting...the sig thing yes thats a good idea to put into your sigs (do you guys want to make them a hyperlink, to go directly here) I was going to do that to mine..also i can put up your sigs in the second post for those you want to let others use them...if you want to do this let me know when you post your sigs..I was also thinking of when you post your vote, in a post you must put who you are voting for along with your pov and or any evidence to support your claim (evidence must be put in spoilers)

Man i'm having loads of trouble trying to upload my image. It's probably because of my faulty connection, if I don't get an error page the page just times out and I have to try again (sorry to keep going on about it) I will get the image up soon.

manga and anime everything goes, but its mostly manga because the anime cuts off at an early point..
bubbs, it might be the faulty connection..if you want you can send it to be through email and i can upload it for you...but i know photobucket sometimes it just shows a white blank page then you have to close it and reopen photobucket and sometimes its there, but sometimes it didnt go through...

Im on vol11 chapter 62 at the moment..and reading as we speak, lol

Don't worry. Isn't Tokyopop on volume 15 or 16? They'll catch up pretty soon.

Also, I wanted to know people's opinions on Takaya Natsuki's (the mangaka) drawing style. Do you like her current one? Or her one before? Personally, I like the latter one since her characters had different features. Now, they all look like they have the same faces. But she does draw the girls prettier.

No Friend I am also waiting for the manga release, so I will be behind in the story with you. Infact i'm sure the UK get the releases later then the US so i'll be the most behind.

As for Natsuki's drawing style, this is the only manga I have read of her's so I can't comment. Personally I think her drawings are beautiful, you can tell she enjoys drawing girls. As for the faces I think it's the same in most mangas, they all seem to have similar faces to me. Thanks for the rep as well Devilish Angel, I hardly ever get any. Yeah i have to agree with bubblishous...i haven't read any other manga by her either, but..i do notice there are several differences in the faces from other manga..I like her style though...

My reason:-
Tohru has really helped Yuki open his heart. Yes Yuki has fans but he won't touch them. He's a gentleman who takes care of Tohru and listens to her. He picks her up from work, he helps her at school, he says nice things to her! He will make her a princess to his prince.

Kyo is just too angry all the time and you never know when he'll flip! He could really end up hurting our heroine, physically and mentally. Remember Kyo has Kagura and his master to take care of him. Yuki has no one!

I know i'm in a minority here because you're all Kyo fangirls but I still want Yuki to win!

Ok i've decided to edit my post as from what i've missed.

Takaya's drawing style - I do miss the variety she once had in her earlier drawings in fruits basket but I do love the fact there is less texture, all the textures she put in the beginning almost threw me off from the series.

Kyo x Tohru

Spoilers up the Volume 12 (which is what I read up to)below:

I believe that Kyo is the one for Tohru. He is the only one out of the group that notices when Tohru is upset, even when she's smiling as she always does. It's like that one time when Hiro upset Tohru when he asked her why does she always talk about her mother. Kyo noticed the next day that Tohru was sad, even though she was smiling the whole time, he noticed that she was not as cheerful. There are many instances where Kyo notices Tohru's feelings, and Tohru is willing to open up to him.

Also, despite the fact Yuki kissed Tohru on the forehead, and said she was a "precious person to him" (if you go by that translation), Kyo finally admitted to himself that he loved Tohru and is determined to spend all his time with her before he will get confined for the rest of his life.

Plus, Kyo is just hotter :P

Well from what I've read up to in the manga.
Kyo admitted that he loved Tohru. Tohru has romantic feelings for Kyo.
Yuki thinks of Tohru like a mother.

I think Tohru has really changed Kyo, and Kyo and Tohru have romantic feelings for eachother so.. yeah xD I find it really sweet that Kyo wants to spend the rest of the time he left with Tohru, Awwie. <33

Well this thead has got a little quiet, it's my day off today so i'm seeing whats new, well there isn't much. I'm loosing the vote which is making me depressed even though I knew it would happen. Yuki is just to girly, I know, but I still think he will make Tohru happier, oh well never mind.

On a completely different note, last night I re-read the book where Kyo's true form is revealed and Yuki goes to Ayame's shop (ha ha one of my favourite scenes, gotta love Ayame). It got me thinking about why Yuki and Kyo hate each other so much.(I know they secretly envy each other, but is that all?) Even though I have only read upto book 12 this is the conclusion I have come up with, I actually think that Yuki doesn't hate Kyo but hates himself. I think he feels responsible for the Kyo's true form, perhaps, and instead of admitting that to himself he's angry at Kyo for not punishing him more. He's angry that Kyo is still having a life or moving on whilst Yuki is struggling to let go of his past. He hates himself for that and so finds it easier to take it out on Kyo. I think Kyo doesn't really blame Yuki for his condition but just finds it easier to blame him for his condition. Kyo has such low self asteam that he doesn't feel that hes worth anyones recognition, including Yuki, but maybe he wants Yuki's recognition the most, you know like Naruto and Sasuke were.

Hmmm, this has become a bit of an essay. What do you think people? Feel free to dissagree with me.

Hey I completely agree with you..Yuki still doesnt feel right being around other people, while kyo just goes on like everything is ok. Yuki is very popular, but is still isolated inside himself. Tohru is the only one that makes him feel like he can be himself freely and is not alone.

As for my favorite pairing, Yuki and Tohru!

Yuki is so kind to her! He's always defending her and taking care of her. And after seeing Yuki's past I knew he needed someone who loved and really cared for him to make up for it. (Though the same could be said about Kyou. :P) Not to mention when they interact it's always so cute and heart warming. I always liked Yuki for being polite and courteous and not bitter after all he's been through. He isn't even mean to any of his fangirls.

Kyou was always insulting her. And, though not intetionally, hurting her sometimes. Everytime she was being sincere he would say something mean which would then make Tohru worried thinking that she did something wrong. I know Tohru likes him but I still like Yuki and Tohru.

I was actually a Kyou and Tohru shipper when I first read the manga but then changed when starting to take notice of Yuki more.

Oh man tell me about the work load! I spent all day yesterday on making a corset for an order, it was my day off from my daily office crappo job. I didn't even stop until 8pm, when I was so knackered and my back was killing. If I have a spare moment I check my e-mail and see what the chat is on here. Then my friend Sayo is waiting for me to finish some more of my short stories/poems so she can illustraite them. Then I do my own sketches just so I don't go mad from lack of creativity (hence new sig). I barely have a spare moment! I'm at work today at 12 which is ok because I got to lie in, didn't even wake up till 10 I must have been tired, but I don't finish until 8pm, which sucks.

Well enough of my rant, however, i'm now officially the most behind in the story. I may have to give in and download some.:cry However, it won't be until next sunday now if I do. I guess I do want to read some more. Unless someone who has already downloaded the manga can e-mail it to me instead (can you even do that?) then I could get my hands on it a lot quicker. I can't believe I have not voted yet! I guess if I had to choose between the two I would have to vote for Kyo x Tohru. Evidence:
The only reason I vote this way is b/c Yuki has stated that he does not have romantic feelings for Tohru, it is more of a motherly love. Besides, he has Machi. :amuse Also, Tohru and Kyo really do love eachother. Maybe if they can get over all of their baggage they could actually be together. But, if I had my way it would be Tohru x Momiji. I know that there is no real hope there so, oh well.

Ooh Momiji looks cute in those pictures. Are they genuine, from the story? If so I can't wait to read some more! Momiji has grown on me alot, which i've mentioned before. I was thinking about this and I think I would personally love to go out with someone like Momiji, he's so kind, fun, cute and crazy, I also love my blond boys! However, don't worry people i'm still waiting for a Hatsuharu type to come knocking on my door first.

I also think that Yuki does have romantic feelings for Tohru, I think he's just hiding behind the 'like a mother' thing because he doesn't understand his emotions or how to express them. Because he's probably never experienced love before.

I felt the same way but then everyone it seemed on this thread started downloading it and I soon realised I would be behind. We still don't know when book 13 is even going to be published. I'll buy it anyway because I have all of the books so far and I love the story. I've gave up on collecting Naruto for example because I think only 8 of the books have been published here and i'm so ahead in the story because of the anime and quite frankly we don't know when Naruto's going to end, which means god knows how many books! Whereas we kind of know that Fruits Basket has or will have around 22 books. I can cope with that.

I really try not to get too much farther ahead than the english releases on most manga, but w/fruits basket I could not help myself. So, I have read up to the current chapter. Well, I did the same thing w/ Naruto and One Piece as well. But anyway, Has anyone picked up any of the new plushies? I have a second job at a bookstore (it helps to support my manga reading habit) and we got in the cutest furuba plushies. There is Tohru, Shigure, Kyo, and Yuki all in their everyday clothes. I haven't seen any plushies but the UK in general doesn't really supply manga or anime :cry. You have to go to specialist stores although some bookstores have started selling manga and anime and have dedicated an intire columb of shelves to each so as you can imagine, not a lot of choice! This is why I import or buy most things over the net. I'm not really into plushies though so I can't moan to much about not having them here.

Hmmm, i've been thinking of downloading some of the Naruto manga because i'm only an anime watcher really and the fillers are just making me loose interest (kage bunshen drives me insane now!). I want to see all the characters three years older as well and Shino's new shades that i've been hearing about. But I don't know which chapter the 'part 2' starts on, can anyone help me out?

How on earth do you grow your hair that long? Mine is shoulder lengh with a new swept across fringe. I'm naturally auburn but I like being blond at the mo. When my hair is a bit longer I have big plans to return to the red and even put some scarlet in there. But it's gonna take a few months growing yet. It is expensive to get your hair done I know mine cost me £70, I guess thats about $100-$110, but it was a treat. People have raised eyebrows at some of my past hair colours but I always managed to win them over and keep the colour, ha ha ha. Anyway must go.

I don't really understand fully what fan-fiction is so please explain. I have now read all of the next volume or book from the down loads and I think I may have a new favourite character emerging. Kakeru the vise president student body dude is just hilarious. He also knows Tohru somehow and i'm just like, how how? Anyway he ain't my favourite yet but he's a welcome new character. He will never beat Ayame or Ritsu on hilarity, what's especialy funny about Ritsu for me is that my sister is a monkey but it would take a miracle to get her to say sorry, ha ha ha. Ooh and i'm liking Shigure less and less, just what is he doing? Also the sweetness between Kyo and Tohru makes me feel all cute inside. Ha ha.

Anyway, I found the chapter for Naruto and downloaded some of that as well from narutofan.com. But thanks anyway Kire. I was so excited when I discovered that Naruto had a new outfit then my face dropped again when I discovered that it was still mainly orange. Sakura's new outfit is nice though and her new Tsunade power is quite funny. It's about time she kicked some ass though. I also thought that Shikamaru now dresses just like Kakashi, but what has happened to Gaara's face? He's lost the puppy fat from his face but he's still hot and his outfit is fantastic, it looks like a Vivian Westwood creation. Kankaru's face painting has gone a bit far though don't you think? :laugh

Fom what i've seen so far is the way they seem to care for each other on a deeper level, than with yuki..i mean yes yuki does care for her, but its not exactly clear how..a motherly love is something so different..

appearently i'm still in the middle of volume 13, but i think KyouXtohru will eventually happen...and I see this pairing is growing on you Bubblishous, lol

~Ok fan fiction is when people write stories using the characters from an anime or manga..for example furuba or naruto...i wrote one using Sasuke and sakura, but has its naughty moments, lol. I don't really mind who pairs off with whom, just as long as one happens. My mind changes about the characters all the time as different things are revealed about them. Example: -

At first I loved Shigure, I thought he was really sweet, caring and funny. Now I think he's sceaming and manipulative which arn't appealing characteristics. Although he can still really make me laugh.

At first I didn't really like Kyo, I thought he was un-necessarilly voilent and a bit scary. Now I think he's a troubled soul who deeply cares for not just Tohru but the other zodiac as well. He's accepted his fate and wants to live in the now.

I thought Yuki was the nice guy at first and well he probably still is, however, he's such a difficult character who doesn't express his emotions so he's difficult to read. He can at time be increadably spiteful towards people and the fact that he thinks he's so pathetic all the time, well it kind of makes him pathetic, which also isn't an attractive charactersitic.

So who knows where the stories going? I'm hoping to read the next volume at somepoint this week (volume 14). I also have a theory about Rin Is she pregnant? All off the collapsing and sickness and transforming?

I'm going to check out that fan fiction now so bye.

-edit- ah so thats fan fiction, well how strange, not sure what I think about it to be honest.

Yeah im toward the end of vol 13 and saw all the rin drama..ITs official..My favorite pairing is RinXHatsuharu! They are so intense, strong deep love is between them, so much so that she would actually sacrifice her hopes and dreams and life even for Haru! :love Rin pregnant....i doubt it, i think she probably would have lost it in the akito incident..but yeah if its true it would have blindsided me...but the symptoms are correct, but i dont know, they like to keep it mysterious with her..which i like...But what is wrong with her. Why is she so weak. Is it just that she is tiring herself with worry and stress from trying to find the cure for the curse...?I guess well eventually find out...

Yes Shigure is up to something, but why does that surprise you..He's been sneaky from the beginning..My thoery on him is hes waiting for Akito to die and then maybe he would take over in his place as the head of the family

Haitu4, I know it a tough trying to choose between Yuki or Kyo. I'm simply saying a pairing must happen with one of them or I think i'll just be dissappointed. Oh and don't worry about Akito ot's obvious that something is going to happen to him at some point. Kire I don't really see how Akito will die so easilly. (a bubblishous theory) I think Akito gets all sick or whatever he pretends to be feeling when the Juunishi try to break the blood bond that they all share together. eg When Hatori wanted to get married or the Hiro Kisa thing. I don't really understand why he won't let them have relationships, maybe just so he can have absolute power over them? I believe if this blood bond is brocken somehow the curse will be broken as well. I know Akito has been horrid to Tohru but she's a tough cookie and I believe that she has some vital role in the Juunishi story somewhere. They all seem to be connected someway or another.

Kire your Shigure theory I find a little hard to believe, I couldn't see Shigure as a leader. That role would be better suited to Hatori or someone, maybe even Yuki because he's the rat, the first animal in the zodiac, well who knows. I know Shigure has always been scheming from the begginning but I believe it will be in a positive end result. I guess I just don't like not knowing what he's up to!

The Hatsuharu X Rin relationship is quite the romantic story so far but I can't help but be a little jealous, ha ha ha.

Hmmm, yes I once went out with a guy 10 years older then me once, however it really didn't work, he wanted to start a family and I was like hell no, not yet. Ah Shigure, Shigure what is he up to. Ren Souhma is probably behind the major picture. Akito called her a Seducer >< Shigure is probably a victim, Ren holds a disliking of Akito so is probably out there to ruin her(Akito's) life.

I really liked the anime and the voices were great, I didnt care for the japanese voices, though..They mad yuki sound too girlish in my oppinion. Im glad i watched the anime first, because it gave me a true idea of what the characters personality really is like...Aya and Kyo, can be kind of difficult to understand if you just read the manga, they are complex, calm on minute and flipping out the next.

True true. And yes that was the ending.
But you don't really know if Tohru actually ended up Kyo in the end, since she just walked off. I thought that was a very vague ending, and still left many loose ends. I mean, wouldn't people want to know who the rest of the juuinishi are (Rin and Kureno) I don't know why, but that scene where Hana and Uo were fighting made me cry, as did when Kyo transformed.

I really hope that they do continue the anime. Sometimes, I reckon it's funnier, since you get to hear their voices. ^^

Yeah the anime is better to see and hear them! I would have loved to see Kureno and Uo scenes, and especially Rin and Haru's relationship played out...I think maybe they left the ending vague so that they could continue it and or just to see if it would gain popularity. That way if it didnt, they wouldnt loose anything...

Hello everyone, sorry I have been away for a while. I've decided to stop downloading the story because I need my computer memory for my work. So i'm now going to be really strong and not read any more spoilers on this thread. I read up to the Cinderella thing and I feel that that is a good place to stop. It was a return of the comedy after all of the Yuki and Rin depression that's been going on.

I still haven't seen the anime and I think i'm going to give up on trying to watch that as well to be honest. Ah well.

hey Bubblishous! You could always do what i did for the manga..Download them, unzip the files and put them on cd-r, then delete from the computer..75 % of my memory is being used at the moment, i have way too much anime on here..I need more cd-rs..

It's not that I don't want to watch it. I was going to get some copies off a friend but I still haven't got them and i'm just not that desperate to see it. Besides I've been reading Hansel and Grettle by Junko Mizuno recently and that has taken my attention away from Fruits Basket. To be honest Fruits Basket was getting a little WTF for me, so i'm having a little break from it. Yes I think that's best.

well i can understand that...I ve taken a break from Naruto and furuba, and have been watching monster and Bleach...im on episode 44 of bleach..i really like that show...i might have to look into the manga once i get caught up to the current episode...then i still have a show called scrapped princess to watch, ive only seen 5 episodes but it seems good...

Hmmm, I've never seen Bleach but I have seen all of Shaman King, which is apparently a very similar story. Shaman King is so funny, I actually prefer the english dub over the Japanese. I also tried a bit of that DN Angel but it's no Furuba so that didn't last long. I've also been watching Full Metal Alchamist, man thats such a good/creepy/intense/slightly confusing/heartfull story. Some idiot on one of these threads just told everyone how it all ends though, I was so angry with whoever that guy was. I'm still watching it though. If we're talking anime or cartoons the only thing i've really been watching is Invader Zim, it is one of the best cartoons i've ever seen, it's just so hilarious.

ive watched a few of the full metal alchemist..it seems good but i want to see it from the begining...i hate being lost...i dont really watch cartoons, but i am a sucker for beavis and butthead...(that makes me a little bit of an idiot i suppose) but what the hell, i like those morons..I recently watched that movie spirited away in japanese with the subtitles, and i was surprised..I really liked it..I had watched the english version of it a while back and it annoyed me because they made that girl so whiney...its funny how language can make or break a character...

OMG you don't watch Studio Ghibli films!?! They have made some of the best animated movies I have ever seen. Watch Princess Mononoke and Nausicca of the Valley of the Wind. They're my favourites. I'm not a beavis and butthead fan but I really love South Park so that makes me an idiot as well.

I've seen all of them, I got hooked on them, Howls moving castle comes out soon as well. I really liked that film even though at times it was a little confusing.

OMG South Park they did an episode which is basically a piss take of Naruto, it's all about ninja's, it made me cry it was so funny. The other film they did Team America is so much funnier then the South Park film. The songs made me laugh so much my stomach hurt.

If you have cought up, don't you think the story is getting really random? I've been finding it a little difficult to follow. I don't know if this is partly down to the translation but I just feel like the story is being pulled in to many directions. This may be just me though. I read so many books, plays and mangas I guess I have quite high standards of stories. The story of this started so well, I just hope it gets back on track.

My family absolutely hate it (or don't understand it) then again my family think i'm weird. Ha ha ha, they've actually told me this. In a nice way though, they basically mean your an individual and that's good. My sister is the worst, we don't get on that well but we always try to get on. When we visit each other though we still end up fighting at some point. She's three years older then me but she acts a lot younger. I don't know why i've decided to reveal all but what the hey.

Yes well manga is a good distraction from things. My problem is that i'm a really fast reader, I can go through a manga book in an hour easy. This just makes me want more and more. I have so many books it's not even funny. I have an 8 shelf bookcase all filled and then I have boxes full of books in my basement. I should sell some really.

Kire when are turning 24? It must be soon if your a Rooster. I behave older then I am as well but don't get me wrong I still have my silly moments. I love it when I get asked for ID in a bar to prove my age, it actually makes me happy (drinking age is 18 in UK). My sister is 25 and getting married this year. People are already asking me when it's going to be my turn, i'm like aarrgghh! I'm only going to be 23 in May and i'm not sure if I find marrage appealing anyway. This is why I don't live near my family, ha ha ha ha.

Keep up the studies Haitu4, you'll probably find that your not the only one who would rather read manga then do homework. When I was at school I didn't put much effort in either and I now have a 1st class honours degree so just do what you can.

Also the whole Kyo dream sequence about Tohru's parents then his mum then Tohru with blood on his hands. I just didn't get it at all, i'm completely lost. He thinks he can't love Tohru for some reason??????:S

I think Akito's about 20 or something I think she's older then Kagura as well. I also only had read all of the books but then everyone on this thread started discussing later chapters and I was weak and had to follow their example :cry. All I can say to you Kire is that you haven't read it yet! It is really sad what happens. Well not happens but the situation is sad.

I'm probably going to have everything downloaded by the end of the week knowing me, i've gotten slightly addicted to the story at the moment. There's also a heartbreaking Tohru x Kyo moment that involves flowers I was like awwwwww just kiss the girl! I'm frustraited for them.

Yep yep draw them then post them up! I love drawing anime/manga characters. I get so frustraited though if they don't look like the characters! It took three attempts to get team 8 just right in my sig, it was worth it though.

It looks really good..I have a few that i consider good, but my problem has always been making things more complex then they are, and thats a real problem when drawing manga, cause they are supposed to be smooth and simple..I specialize in line design(well thats what i call it anyway), grid, and still life drawing..Have you done any of furuba...

Yeah I have a few furuba well 2 anyway ooh and that vote yuki poster I did ages ago. Furuba is tough to draw because the characters are actually quite detailed, Naruto is much easier to draw. I think my main problem is when I add colour I always end up adding to many tones.
