Terry wasn't that impressive from what I remember, while Ryu rapes all over the place.
That held true for the animes of the respective games as well.
So, anime Ryu > anime Terry, VG Ryu > VG Terry.

I like Terry more than Ryu, so my choice is some what baised.
But anime Terry>Ryu. (He took down a God like, and a God)
and
game wise thier both high tier characters Terry= Ryu.

I think Terry was hell of a impressive in the Fatal Fury 1 and 2. Well in video games out now Terry is a beast in Capcom vs SNK ones and Maximum Impact! Old School Terry is different!

That boss in Fatal Fury 2 the movie was no Joke but Geese was a pushover! I have to give Ryu some props but I hate how they made him in the movie how the made him act. In the video games Ryu is awesome but in the anime and movies they made him look weak and he could only fight Bison or Guile with Kens help I clearly thought he could take them on his own.

Have you seen the KOF anime it is awesome they even put the Maximum Impact Characters in there. Iori is a beat. Terry looks pretty impressive so far. They have only released the first episode in Japanese and the other clips I saw are from future episodes. Getting back to Ryu vs Terry I have seen some clips from Generations it looks awesome I am waiting for my copy to come in the mail as we speak.
I think Terry just has a lot more moves to bring to a match his Buster Wolfe is no joke and Burning Knuckle can basically go through anything.

Why dont you guys just toss in a copy of Capcom vs SNK 2, or Snk vs Capcom choas and go to town? I mean if you argue the Animated versions Terry is gonna win hands down cuz of that fight with Mars. and Power Geiser also leveled like a building in that movie too.
But in the First SF Alpha OVA Ryu shoots a Dark hadouken and it takes out the whole building behind Zangief. So you could go all day.
Here:
SF vs Fatal Fury: Ryu
SFA3 vs king of fighters 1995-2001: Terry
SFIII third impact vs Mark of the Wolves: Ryu
SFA Anime vs fatal fury Anime (All): Terry
SF II Movie vs Anything Else Animated with Terry(like Wild Ambition): Ryu
NEw SF Generation and the few pics of Terry in KOF anime: Ryu
Capcom vs SNK 2: Ryu
Snk vs Capcom Chaos: Terry by a fucking landslide (Broken bitch)

Maximum impact Terry vs SF ex3: Terry
Do we consider Evil Dark Hadou Ryu? I mean....its still him.. and

I wish I could pop in a game and play a good Ryu right now with Terry. I am going with the Terry overall I guess you can call his latest improvement was Maximum Impact and I dont see him losing to Ryu unless he has to deal with Dark Ryu then we have a match.

I am as good with Terry as I am with Ryu but when I play other people Terry just gives me the advantage I need to win. I say it will be a close match but Terry comes out on top with a broken body!
My 2 favorite character but I'll have to go with Ryu.

Terry is better than Ryu in CvS1 and 2. I remember in CvS1 Terry had a powerdunk trap which hit you when you were rising regardless of wether you were blocking or not. He also is very good at poking and his crack shot keeps opps. lock down.
Plus, anime Fatal Fury was like DBZ as Street Fighter is Naruto. Terry killed the God of War Mars.

i would say gameplay wise ryu > terry.. by quite a bit, its just that sf mechanics > kof
i cant lie, i havent seen any snk anime yet :\

Diff? You can't compare KoF and SF because its different format. CvS is a perfect example of what would happen if they clash under the same format. Terry is better. Overall, we can say MvC2 Ryu eats any version of Terry.
PS. What moves are different for Ryu or Terry? They have no moves that they haven't had before.

All I can say is that when CVS was being made, they had to weaken the SNK fighters moves and take away some moves from a few of their moves lists so that they wouldn't be too powerful for the Capcom characters. Terry's no different.

No they didn't, :huh even SNK doesn't put all of the KOF characters moves into one game. As for gameplay in CVS2, I beleive that Ryu's Shin Shoryuken outdoes any of Terry's techniques in terms of power. as for speed, alot of terry's moves have startup delay.

Ryu's pretty good accounting he has the dark the hadou as well as the fact that he took down Akuma who is freaking monster. However were talking about video game Ryu then he,ll go down quick.Because of the fact that his moves are far too mediorcre and can't execute them as quickly.Plus last I checked Ryu didn't take down a god like Terry did.So I'm gonna hand this fight to Terry.

Shin Shoryuken? He needs three meters for that and the damage is cut if he combos into it. Terry's cross over, HP, blaster wolf, power guiser does more damage and is much more practical.
Anyways--- supers and pretty combos don't mean much anyways. Terry controls space better than Ryu and thats why he's better.
And if you compare original game engines, Fatal Fury trumphs SF unless you are talking about the MVC series.

Dark Hadou doesn't mean much. Akuma is just a regular man. Terry toppled the Roman God of War Mars. That trumphs beating Akuma.

Ryu has has good attacks to now, Terry does have the flashier moves and are effective too, but Ryu also has have moves that makes him a pretty much blanced character. Both are capable of beating one another, depends on the better player.

Terry's is more practical and takes less meter. Furthermore, you can combo off the end of both of his supers. Shin Shoryuken goes straight up and if you miss it you lose three meter and you're very unsafe. Power geiser covers a large amount of space in an angle that shoots up through the air towards the opponent. You can easily combo into it or hit them in the air while they're jumping, even if they won't land next to you. If you miss the move you're safe. Blastar Wolf super gives you a free burning knuckle or a power geiser afterwards. If you miss the move, you're safe.

Ryu is a balanced character w/all the basics. However, Terry has all the basics covered too PLUS he controls space better with his regular pokes and crack shoot.

Actually they do. Look at what they did to Ryo. He was greatly slowed down for that game and lost some of his juggles (ie his charge kick into his uppercut, and I think he also lost his charge kick into his rapid punch as well, though the corner might be different), these were trademarke combos for him in every KoF game that included that kick (sometimes they changed it to this hurricane like kick like KoF98 and up), I'm not sure, but I don't know if he has his tripple close up combination punch that's in every kof game he's been in. Then there's mai. She lost her flip uppercut, and the move that they usually replace it with (her fan swipe), is also mia. Not to mention that they took away Mai's ability to choose the side she jumps from (but they might've done that to vega as well, so if they did, then it evens out). Bennimaru had one of his spinkicks taken out, but it's a useless alternate of his other spinkick so that wasn't really weaknening him. Terry lost his power charge and his rising tackle which was in every kof game I think starting in 97 or 98 (but missing in mark of the wolves, but that's a FF game and not a KoF game). He also doesn't have his overshoot buster super, but that was replaced by his Mark of the wolves type buster wolf, but he is missing one of his more useless supers I forget the name though. Rugal was just nerfed totally, yet he's still powerful. There were some other changes but I haven't played the game in a while.
And the Shinshoryuken is powerful, but Terry matches that by being able to combo after his supers....but I guess we really aren't compairing the game versions are we :laugh

I'd say Ryu, his moves are much better than Terry's. Ryu is able to perform continous combos but Terry's are just lame and Ryu would pwn Terry.

I have seen the KOF anime the first episode it looks pretty impressive!
Oh yeah I have to give it to Cham on this one I love Terry but they did make their characters weaker than Capcom when they started mixing them up. All the capcom vs snk games makes the characters looks weak but you put them in any other KOF or FF then they rock. Ryo I have to say is all right my bro is a beast with him in Maximum Impact and the KOF game series but if you play KOF 2003 you see how fast and strong the KOF people are. I am a big Mai fan but Capcom vs SNK games just depict the characters wrong. Guaranteed if you put KOF 2003 vs Any of the SF games they dont have the speed and strength to beat KOF.
Well getting back to this subject. This match is about Terry overall and Ryu overall anything goes from video game to Anime to that crappy US street fighter cartoon and Live action movie.
Hey but remember the SF live action movie had the Ryu that pwn all.:nuts

I hated that live action movie so much.
What the hell were they thinking with Ryu and ken, I mean......

My point is that, if you include this movie for the overall Ryu, then is strength would be downgraded so much, that Terry could prolly kill him with a single burning knuckle.

I'd say Ryu, his moves are much better than Terry's.
No they're not. Ryu's moves are very basic. He has a basic fireball, a basic anti air, and a shitty hurricane kick. Terry has his own basic fireball. He has three anti airs, one of which is safe on block, hard to punish on wiff, and covers more space. Ryu's Shoryuken is punishable on block and punishable on whiff. Ryu has the hurricane kick which is completely useless as an offensive move and is very punishable.
Regular moves... the only thing Ryu has thats better than Terry is his jp.short. However, Terry doesn't need a jp.short because he can lock you down with all of his good pokes combined w/crack shoot.
Ryu is able to perform continous combos but Terry's are just lame and Ryu would pwn Terry.
Ryu has always sucked at combos. What does he have? jp.short, cr.fierce, hadoken (xx)? You make it sound like he's Ken (who is better than Terry AND Ryu gameplay wise). And btw-- combos don't mean anything in fighting games. Anna has a 95% life combo in Tekken 5, but shes considered the worst (or second worst) in the game.

Exactly!Exactly! that Terry can hook combo's together in SNK vs Capcom 1 and 2 as well in the movie.Besides Ryu always does the same moves as always.Plus Terry's move are mostly expansive which are ground type and block Ryu's Hadouken from the ground along with his other moves.

Terry just has supers that doesnt require him to be stationary and he recovers quicky and Ryu just sits there after every super in awe. If Ryu misses a super then some one has an opening available for rapage.

you look at all the capcom game tournaments and all they do is combo, its pretty much whoever gets the hit starts the combo and takes away half the other guys health.. and etc etc

Samething could be said for Terry also though, if a player decides to use Terry's Buster Wolf the same time a Ryu player does there Shinku Hadoken, the Shinku Hadoken (which can also be canceled into alot of combos) will mostly likely connect and Ryu's Hadoken comes out alot faster than Terry's power wave. Like I said it just depends on the player's, Ryu has moves that could give him wins over Terry and vice versa.

Combos don't mean shit compared to a lot of other factors in fighting games with the main one being space control. A character who controls space better is superior to a character who has the ultra death combo. Example:
MvC2 - - -
Juggernaught has multiple combos that kill you one hit like.. corner throw, jp.short, jp.round, tron assist, jp.short, jp.round, land, juggernaught headcrush, juggernaught headcrush. Thats cool and all, but Strider will beat him everytime by trapping him with rocks and orobos killing him by block damage.
Tekken 5 - - -
Anna has a combo that takes about 95% of your life (strongest combo in the game btw). Whoopdedo. She can't control space well, a lot of her moves leave her at disadvantage. Shes considered bottom tier. One of the worst in the game.
Soul Calibur 3 - - -
Nightmare has a combo that takes about 120-140 damage, roughly 60% of your life. Considering the average combo takes about-- 60-70... you'd think hes good. Okay now-- look at Xiangua. Her best guarenteed combo is a 3b, 33k, a. Thats around that 60-70 range. Whos top-tier? Xiangua because she controls space better. Nightmare? Bottom mid.
SF Third Strike
Makoto, Q, and Remy have 100% damage combos. Ken and Chun-Li don't have anything close to that. Who is top-tier out of those 5 names? I'll give you a hint... the ones who control space better and do not have 100% damage combos.
Now big combos are definately a factor in fighting games, but big combos don't mean shit compared to space control. Why do you think characters like Hibiki (CvS2), Dhalsim, etc. are so good? Now-- back to the topic...
Terry has a more solid game than Ryu which revolves around pokes and crack shoots. Ryu has the basic be patient, throw fireballs, fish for a jump, game. A good Terry would keep Ryu locked down.

I agree with your User Name. You are a Moron.
Terry > Ryu [Personality] (Where's Ryu's personality?)
Terry > Ryu [Fighting Style] (Terry holds more originality, Terry's techniques are more "Street Fighterish" than Ryu's twisted Karate moves)
Terry > Ryu [Video Game(s)] (Are you ok? Seriously, answer this question before you get punched across the face - Power Geyser counters a Hadouken, Rising Tackle counters Tatsumaki Senpukyaku, The only thing Ryu will probably have going for him is the Shoryuken. As far as normals go, Terry has a close-range double-punch which can link into almost anything. Hese got that d\f uppercut which his down+fierce remains a fierce jab. Terry's standing HK automatically evades low attacks if timed right)
Terry > Ryu [Anime] (Terry took out a god, Ryu can supposedly dodge bullets and throw kamehameha waves, its non-canon so it doesn't matter)
EDIT: ABOUT THE KOF ANIME
You guys never heard of an Original Net Anime? Their Short (usually about 5-15mins per episode). King of Fighters: Another Day only has 4 episodes...
