I disagree. YYH characters are at a class higher than Shaman King characters. Sure, SK characters use spirits which give them their power, but they can be killed rather easily. And with Hiei's speed, he'd simply appear behind Hao and slice him a dozen times in the span of a second.

I only know Shaman King from the anime.

And anime Hao would lose to S class Hie.

You do know that the spirit of fire is actually the spirit of the 5 star elements: gold, water, fire, wood and air (not sure about the air). If he's hit with water (hit with a water attack that's very very strong), he'll turn into the opposite element and neutralize the attack. He can eat spirits and people with lots of furyoku to increase his power, and of course the he's got a panoply of strong attacks. Hiei's black flame dragon is impressive (1st time I saw it, it surprised me a lot!) but it just doesn't compare to the spirit of fire.

Id: you don't know what you're missing. The manga shaman king has blood and deaths. That huge sword Yoh (shrunk or not) gets is not his final Oversoul, he gets a new one in Hell, the big Oversouls are just lame, they never happened in the manga most guys have double mediums or mastered the Tso Senji Ryakketsu to get new oversouls, and that final strike where everybody gives their furyoku to Yoh and his Oversoul turns into a giant Amidamaru is too lame. Never happened. Even with all the power ups I'm talking to you about, the gang still has no idea how to beat Hao, he's still to strong for them. So, yes Hao is stronger than Hiei.

Its not that bother me, its the speed Hie posses. That makes him vary dangrous.
