Suppose we take Mike Tyson in his prime, and throw him in the Octagon, and make him fight anyone of your choosing! I'd like to limit it to a boxing match, since Mike doesn't have any ground game, that I know of.
Don't worry Pride FC fans, that one's next!
Anyway, there are some pretty good strikers out there, take your pick, and lets see this thing through!

Dude Mike would break every rule thats up to date in UFC.
Now if it was before rules were established then thier might be a few that could take down Mike...

As a straight boxing match I'd not think many could stand up with Tyson. He's a pretty badass mother fucker.

Tyson wins I'd say about almost any UFC member in a pure boxing match because it is limited to his specialty.
UFC guys are better rounded though with the standard kickbowing + brazilian jijitsu combo..... but that doesn't help them here.

ok, mike tyson, in his prime was the baddest boxer to date (sry ali). however, in a UFC match, Tim Sylvia or Andre Orlovski could both probably kick tyson's ass, unless tyson gets lucky and knocks 'em out w/ a punch.

I disagree w/ Tim "All I have is size" Sylvia. He hasn't shown any signs of having a good ground game and has proven he has horrible sub defense. He'd try to strike w/ Tyson and get KO'd. Arlovski would use his Judo and Sambo background to sub Tyson.
As for the thread-- putting UFC fighters against a top 100 boxer ever is suicide. In fact, I can't think of any UFC fighter w/ even B level boxing hands.

think about this : tyson in his prime could effectively beat any boxer in the world. UFC fighters don't even specialize in boxing, and you're limiting them to that. yeah.

Tyson in his prime against the current fighters from UFC in a boxing match?
What a joke.
If I was a betting man (which I'm not), I would put my money on Tyson.

High-end pro heavy weights punches land with about a thousand lbs of pressure on a regular basis. Someone like Tyson, even more so.
Not to take away from UFC competitors, they are some hardcore bastards. But someone like Tyson, who fights for a living and is paid millions of dollars to keep his body in perfect condition has an advantage for those reasons alone. Most UFC handspeed is nothing special. A lot of those guys could never even get close to him.

Tyson learnt through street fighting, in the octagon he would be like a caged animal.
He would eat them.

lol low blow :laugh.
I know Tyson'd win, but which tyson are we talking about? Pre punchout or post punchout? I guess the choice would determine how fast he'd knock them out. I'm sure UFC guys are well versed in the arts of boxing, but it's not their life like it is his....was his.

First of all... Why would you have a straight up boxing match in an octagon? Making it a boxing match puts MMA fighters at a huge disadvantage. Mike would EASILY beat every UFC and Pride fighter in his prime in a pure boxing match and that includes Silva.
If the rules were real UFC or Pride rules, Tyson would get rocked by quite a few (but not every) professional MMA fighters. If it were kickboxing/muay thai rules, I do think that Silva and Crocop would beat him among a few others.

What if tyson can do anything else than just box? maybe he can street fight too? Seriously, if there weren't rules in boxing, who would fight like that?

He can also beat Einstien at general relativity theory.
What's too say he isn't also a physicist?

Cause of this line in the thread creator's original post.

Last time I checked, most people like to punch a lot in a fight. It's already common knowledge that Tyson can do more than just punch as was the case in his bout against Holyfield.
Like I've said, in a UFC or Pride rules bout, I believe many MMA fighters would be able to take Tyson even in his prime. I'm not saying that Tyson would be a push-over, but he just doesn't have a solid all-around game that some elite MMA fighters have.
If Tyson had spent a few years wrestling and doing some judo/jujitsu and developed some kicking skills way back, he could've gone far.

Like I've said, Tyson probably wouldn't beat a lot of the elite UFC and Pride fighters even with the little muay thai training he's received. Most of the MMA fighers have a very strong grappling background with college or Olympic level wrestling or a black belt in judo/BJJ. Anyone who's grappled that much knows how to defend "common street grappling" which basically involves tackles whereas novices really are pretty much done for.
