WTF? is urahara trying to limit his power like that or what is it? check the tip of the sword if you don't believe me. there's no edge on it so either it was cut in that spot or it's the weirdest sword i have seen.

one, somthing does not have to be sharp to cut somthing in two, there just has to be enough force behind it to do so.

two, ids this anime or maga? cuz if it is manga, u just spoiled me.

Benihime is the most awesome looking Zanpakutou in the series :P I don;t think its cut in half or anything either. As Jiraiya says its supposed to look like that

Jiraiya's right, it's just supposed to look that way.

It's supposed to look that way. You notice it still has an edge and a point.

not at the top part of the tip of the sword. i'm telling you that sword is cut in two to limit urahara's power. then maybe not, i haven't seen if it's only an anime thing.

It's in the manga too probably, but what do you mean by 'top part of the tip of the sword'?

Yep, I agree. "cry, Benihime." That is nice. :laugh

Well, a sword that represents Urahara's soul can only be limited since a physical representation of a god will always reduces the awesomeness it's trying to enbodies...
So yes, Benihime is the greatest sword in Bleach (and even more than that...) and yes it's "limited" but the Bankai form (if he ever need to use it) should show us a bit more of this deity.

No......

That's how the tip is supposed to look like. It wasn't cut, it's just an oddly shaped sword. I mean, who's sword has a handle like that? Don't forget the wierd hilt and tassle. So, the tip is to be expected; wierd.

Yeah, pics would be nice. With an arrow or circle around the part you're suggesting is incomplete.

You've confused me with your description. You say up at the top, but when people say no- the tip is supposed to be like that for a different style of sword like this - you say you didn't mean the TIP. So.... what part EXACTLY are we talking about?

Pics, plz?

I'm a big fan of pointy objects and Japan in general. I noticed nothing broken or incomplete about Urahara's sword. It is an unusual style, and quite attractive. Probably needs a different style of fighting than with a 'standard' katana. But I digress. If you're positive there's something wrong, dig up some pics to clear up what you mean.

(of course, it would be sort of in character for Urahara to 'limit' himself that way, but fairly redundant.)

Thanks, TO. It does look shorter than an average sword in the middle panel. I think it's supposed to look like that. Didn't somebody's sword in Bleach break and then was able to come back together? If it was cut in half then it would have been fixed already.

Don't forget the wierd hilt and tassle.
i have seen the hilt before (a famous example would be darth tyranus lightsabre in the most recent star wars movies) that kind of hilt is to increase cutting power without using that much strength.

now if you look at the middle pic you see that the tip doesn't have an edge like other swords. the black part of the sword is not sharp but the white part is because that is the edge. now if you were to stab someone with that sword you wouldn't be able to do it (well you could but it would be harder than it should)

BTW did you know that straight swords are better for stabbing than cutting right? of course this is an anime so it doesn't matter how he uses it but maybe that has something to do with why it is broken?

I believe its just the style rather than anything in particular, and the hilt would seem purely aesthetic (well actually it prolly has some neat function we've not seen) but I believe for it to help increase cutting power it would need to be gripped the other way around

you put one of your hands in the part after it's bended and pull up. the other hand stays the same.

let me explain better

to allow maximum cutting power you swing the sword like normal and instead of just hacking the target you time it so you pull the off hand right before hitting the target to increase speed and power. that way you slice and cut at the same time to make as much damage as possible without getting the sword stuck. with that hilt the effect is more pronunciated if you get the timing right (the timing is different than with a normal hilt since it goes faster and stronger even if you pull with the same strength)

you need to get adjusted to that hilt because defence might be done differently (haven't seen how you use swords in defence anyways)

Either way I'm sure that it's not cut in half, I've seen swords with similar blades before.
