What do you think about downlowing stuff off webiste? Like programs and applications that you use and stuff. One think is that anything involving your computer's safty should be free, bucause all off these new anti-viruses and stuff are like $60 a year(plus extras aka customer support, extra fetures, ect...) and their crap unless you get the enterpirse versions. Also stuff like Photoshop is $500 and above and unless your a student in college or something(I've tried for high school and it dosn't work) its ridiculous. Does anyone else think people are overpricing software a bit? I mean if you had money to speand on this stuff I'm sure you probably would, but let me serious most people won't speand anything above like $70 on software. And what do you think about people downlaoding stuff on Bittorent and Limewire and stuff?

EDIT: Can someone move this? I messed up:oh

u have a good point. why in the blue hell does a copy of the latest photoshop cost so damn much? virus-scanners, all of it. its BS. the worst part is, the more advanced coms get, the worse it will get. the more complex, the more training it will take to learn how to program software, and for all the effort, the programmers are gonna wanna get paid. charity is on the way out in the software world

I wouldn't mind buying virus software, if it was cheap, 30-40 dollars, and effective, and they never came out with a newer version, just updates.

Coming out with a new antivirus is saying that your old one didn't work. Why should we trust you ever again?

As for Windows, I feel it is over priced, and I refuse to purchase a new version EVERY SINGLE 2 YEARS.

Office, 400 bucks? What are they on crack? You get the download.

The way I see it, they should make software affordable, or I'll download it.

Downloading affordable software for free when you could purchase it however, is wrong.

I think that the prices of products have advanced the usage of internet to get the things you want, without having being rendered to the wishes of influential companies. As such the companies have a bigger say in the application of the law and use this power to their advantage. They also want to maintain a certain ethical obedience, even though we are getting double-crossed.

The general public is thus subjugated to the law, but it doesn't serve our interests. A logical result is thus a non-compliance with specific "unfair" laws. And that is not right, since the underlying thought of copyright is valid.

hmmm, it's expensive because A) it's monopoly B) it's allot of hard work C) to little programmers D) only a few people buying legal software?
It must be hard work, there are not allot of good programmers, companies have to buy legal software. You have to know a thing or two about economics before you can solve this puppy.
Well anyway I download everything because I don't want to buy it. Because it will cost me allot of money and because I can and because it's easy. Maybe if I had a proper understanding of how downloading all of this stuff affects the world I would have better moral. Maybe downloading results in that software development is beeing slowed down.
Even if I would see that what I'm doing is bad for certain reasons I would still have to work and find ways to get allot of money so I can do all of this good. Doing good makes sense to me because good helps the rest and yourself in the end.

People gotta make a living somehow. A lot of those programs take a lot of time and effort to create. I think maybe a built in anti-virus programs for OS should be required and not require a damn monthly fee.

That doesnt mean its gotta have the most advanced and up to date software.

This is almost saying that my damn internet service should be free! My damn gas for my car should be free! Gah... shut up and understand shit like this requires a lot of resources and people to create and maintain.

There are some free anti-virus and whatever programs out there. You just have to find them. They may not be the best stuff in the world and offer great customer service but they are giving it to you for free so you should just shut up and be greatful you got something at all.

Ever heard of the saying if you want something done right(or your way) do it yourself?

Yes progs are over priced, and they complain about people downloading there software IT IS BECAUSE NO ONE CAN AFFORD IT. Then again it could be expensive because so many people download and they have to overprice to make money.

If they lowered the price you would consider buying a product you already own for free or could get for free anyways? Where is the logic in that?

The only thing lowering the price will do is increase the chances that someone lazy will just say screw it and just buy it instead of searching for the boot leg copy.

People can always buy the original software with the high price or u can just a pirated one for a much much lower price. It's up to u. If u like to have confidence in the product and dont mind to pay more so long that u are satisfied with the product, I think u should just buy an original one.

Pirated Photoshop 8 only cost around 2.5 US Dollar compare to the original one which will even soar up to as high as 500 or 600 US dollar.
