I tried to set up a tier list along with my cousin, but because our oppinions on some characters differ to much I decided to create a thread about it.

ok Urahara and Aizen and Yamamoto are just kick ass.

Ukitake and Shunsui, specialty dual wield and first grads of the shinigami school. Gin just has to be good, or else why would Aizen keep him?

Ichigo strong, but not up to par with the above, Kenpachi is in this category, just because he got defeated by Ichigo doesn't mean that he sucks. Ichigo was just lucky

Yoruichi and Byakuya. strong people, but not as strong as Ichigo

Ishida, Histugaya, and Mayuri. ok so Ishida we have obviously seen as strong, and he faced Mayuri, they are in the same category cuz Ishida didn't kill Mayuri. Also, Hitsugaya is here because he's strong and all, but compared to the above i dont think he can take them on.

ok Tousen and Komomura. now i know that Tousen is Aizen's subordinate, but his ban kai sucks ass. Komomura is cool and all, but weak.

Unohana and Soifong. alright now i dont have any problem with the healer. i mean she's cool and all, but like, she's passive not aggressive. Soi fong just sucks. i mean she pales in comparison to all the others

I'd put it like this:
1. Yamamoto: The leader, took on 2 ACTUAL captains who were fairly renowned for thier skills(Kenpachi did the same but they seemed to fight individually and seemed weaker opponents)
2. Uruhara: Created a weapon so powerful he couldn't destroy it and a way to reach bankai in 3 days and did it on his own.
3. Aizen: Tricked everyone and is apparently a badass
4. Ukitate: He's the token "I'm sick but still a badass" plus what Yamamoto said about him.
5. Shunsui: Same except he's the "I'm lazy but still a badass"
6. Yoroichi: Goddess of Shunpo, she's fast and noble family, beyond that its hard to say.
7. Unohana: despite being a healer, if she was weaker than Hitsugaya Aizen should've been able to kill her instead of having her heal everyone
8. Soi Fong: Could hold her own against Yoroichi, head of military and a squad.
9. Byakuya: Got tricked by Yoroichi while holding Ichigo, still powerful and one of the most known captains.
10. Gin: Seems not to want to cause trouble to Byakuya, at the same time, its possible his captain ranking is in part due to Aizen's wishes.
11. Hitsugaya: Seemed to be more serious when he tied with Gin.
12. Kenpachi: Beat 2 captains, but lost to Ichigo at Shikai according to his standards and seems inferior to Gin and Byakuya.
13. Komamura: Couldn't hurt Kenpachi but still seems to be powerful from his bankai.
14. Mayuri: Barely above Tousen because poison is a powerful skill and he has far more things he can do, but seems rather intent on wanting his victims to stay alive.
15. Tousen: Blind, servant to Aizen, couldn't beat Kenpachi, took out a weakened Ishida whose power was virtually gone.

I'd say that either people are extremely overrating Gin or underestimating Tousen. The only reason to believe he's strong is the fact that he's one of Aizen's subordinate and I doubt he'd take any weak person. But so is Tousen. During the fight with Hitsugaya (whom I think is one of the weaker or mid-level at best Captain), he was about to be killed before he attempted to use his shikai on an unconcious Hinamori to distract Hitsugaya. If you say he was just playing around (despite him being in the most serious state we've seen him), then you might as well say Tousen was too.

Soi Fong and Yoruichi are also being both underrated. Yoruichi while out of practice, carrying both Ichigo and Zangetsu (a large sword...) completely outclassed Byakuya in speed despite all those disadvantages. The only time Byakuya almost caught him was when Yoruichi was toying around with him, in which afterwards, she justs dissapears from his sights completely. That is her speed without Shunkou that greatly increases her speed and power.

Soi Fong on the other hand, is able to keep up with that speed. So without a doubt, she's much faster than someone like Byakuya. On top of that, she also has Shunkou like Yoruichi, just not as advanced. Though it's an improveent nonetheless. So with that speed above all other Captains (maybe with the exception of Yamamoto), she has a shikai that requires her to only touch two areas on the body and its instant death no matter how strong you are. So, she being much faster than all the other Captains, it wouldn't be such a hard task. Then she has bankai on top of that, who knows what that is. But with her shikai alone, I'd put her among the strongest Captains.

Yet she was completely outclassed by Yoruichi once she herself did Shunkou. But that's merely because Yoruichi is one of the strongest in Soul Society. I doubt her overall strength differs that greatlys from Urahara.

Mayuri is also being underestimated. But to be expected, as I'm sure there's a bunch of Ichigo-fanboys or at least people who can't stand the fact that another "side-character" like Ishida could possibly be Captain-level, and above that once he removes his gloves. A touch from his shikai is an instant win for him, unless you area talented Quincy that is. With his bankai, you have to use a long range technique that can travel 200+ m and still mantain is power to defeat him. As it was stated in the manga that it spreads poison 200 m around him that will cause inevitable death unless you have an antidote. So even if you kill him afterwards, you're still dead.

I think people are underestimating Unohana, she's the one person that can heal just about anyone, yet Aizen didn't try to attack her. She's gotta be one tough cookie. Otherwise, he's asking for everyone he's beaten to try to fight him when obviously he doesn't want too many opponents at once(hence "divide and conquer" with Hitsugaya). She also was the only one who found Aizen on her own.

So far I like what this guy has listed, he has given perfect examples as to why he finds each individual characters in this specific order, instead of just saying I think your underestimating. There were some other people that did pretty good at giving analysis.

It's not like Aizen wanted to unnecessary bloodshed. Everyone he attacked, attacked him first. (Except for Hinamori, who he was saving in his mind)

Besides couldn't you apply the same argument to Unohana's VC? :P

That atleast lives up to his name. There is no point having a captain with no Bankai and still be feared if he couldnt do that. Plus it reinforces the 11th divisions name as well with seated members beating VC's and all.

I'm surprised to see that Kenpachi is so low on everyones list. He's a fucking monster. He got stabbed and sliced and he just laughs. He's definitley one of the strongest also the craziest.

He wasn't really beat by Ichigo... first of all, didn't Yoruichi make a comment of him being dead if not for his hollow mask saving him? Then there's the fact that he was pretty close to Bankai. Bankai is submission of the soul cutter, against Kenpachi, Zangetsu and Ichigo were fighting side by side. So his power then shouldn't really be a giant difference.

Then after taking that into account, Ichigo fell down first... and Kenpachi was able to walk off and get on top of a roof and try to talk to his sword...

I'm surprised (well not really...) that Soi Fong is quite low on people's list.

1. Aizen (I don't really think that someone can win against COMPLETE hypnosis.. And i don't see how Yamamoto could win also.. Only one is Tousen.. But we don't know about Aizen bankai, so I can't really compare them)
2. Yamamoto (No comments here)
3.Byakuya (He's very strong. He got many attacks and pretty knowledgeble when it comes to combat)
4. Kenpachi He did fought 2 captains. And he didn't even removed his eyepatch. I Don't see anybody winning against him mainly because we didn't saw some people bankai's. And assuming anything is pure speculation)
5. Ichigo (Well.. He managed to go THAT far with Byakuya, so...)
6. everyone else because i din't really saw them going all out to judge anything...

Yeah, but the question is, WILL he ever get to that point?
It's partially because his reiatsu is so high to begin with that it makes him completely dependent on his own abilities, refusing to accept the help from his zanpakutoh.
