Also, if you guys have any suggestions to improve the FC just tell me. If you want I can upload all of my digital copies of the manga (both Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell 2: Man/Machine Interface). One I complete my first final exam tomorrow I'll be happy to do it.

Oh he 'succeeded' alright. It was all reality but the Major stopped him from killing the Chinese VP (they didn't really show just how she did it though).

Oh and 2nd GIG finished earlier this year in Japan. The sub of the last episode was done by Laughing Man Fansubs (LMF) just a few weeks ago (and there's someone [Vision-Anime] already doing the DVD rips with both English and Japanese audio). Just check my first post for the torrent. ^^

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Solid State Society, a full length movie based on Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex is currently planned for completion in the summer of 2006.

The production announcement does not specifically state release format, or date. The movie is being produced in Hi-Vision, a format used by Japanese broadcast networks to support wide-screen televisions. The same production team, including main staff, will be carried over from the TV series. The budget, while not specified, is said to be higher in order to achieve a cinematic level of production.

The 100-minute (tentative running time) movie takes place in 2034, two years after the refugee riot incident. A significantly larger Section 9, with over 20 new officers, investigates terrorist actions related to a wizard-like hacker “Kugutsu Mawashi.”

(Kugutsu Mawashi translated into English is roughly "Puppet Master." Kugutsu Mawashi is not the same as the "Puppet Master" from the first Ghost in the Shell Movie. In Japanese, the "Puppet Master" from the first movie was called "Ningyo Tsukai" which can also translated into "Puppet Master.")

The production committee will comprise Production I.G., along with Bandai Visual, Bandai Entertainment, Dentsu Corporation, Nihon TV Broadcasting (NTV), Manga Entertainment, Tokuma Publishing, and Victor Entertainment.

The movie will premiere in Japan on the SKYPerfecTV! satellite television network on September 1st, and successively released on DVD on November 24th. Release outside Japan is to be announced.

2nd GIG is starting very slowly just like 1st with episodes almost not related to the main story, but at the end plot is truly unpredictable and interesting. Just make sure to watch episodes in a proper order or you will ruin your fun.

Which opening are you speaking about? In both LMF fansubs (made from TV version) of 1st and 2nd GIG first few episodes have different animation in the opening (short scenes from seaseon feauturing main characters). Those are much better then standard opening IMO.

I love GITS! Motoko and Batou are my favorite characters. I wish I had the attitude of Motoko, she is beauty, brains, brawn, and is no bimbo. And Batou is a big funny guy. Their voice actors, both English and Japanese are not so bad either!

Just before the particularist killed themselves on a top of tv tower he confused pursuit troops by disappearing from his car. Ishikawa stated (or was it Motoko?) that he is skilled in cyberbrain warfare.

there is absolutly NO evidence(that I seen) to actually SUPPORT that idea though. The only thing was that they paused on his face, what, tenths of a second longer? Thats hardly supporting evidence.


I'd love to see more evidence that would link him to this movie other than that scene :amuse

I am ashamed to say I haven't even read the manga. I only saw the two movies, and the 1st and 2nd Gig. I'm downloading the 3rd gig, but I might not watch it, since there aren't any translations around, I believe. :(

I did hear somewhere that the way Motoko is represented in the series (gigs) is closer to how she was portrayed in the manga, and that her character in the movies isn't like her 'original' self of the manga at all. For me, it's all good, since I'm a fan of both series and movies.

Yeah, I think I might have heard this in an interview or something, but the Major is indeed a bit more laid back and funny in the manga. To me, who is used to the very serious Motoko, the way she behaved in that episode of 2nd Gig was strange, yet refreshingly funny. :amuse

lol can't even remember the sex part, I watched the series waaaay back. I only rewatch some of the Kuze episodes of 2nd Gig. I'm still not sure if I think Kuze is more badass, or the Puppetmaster. I think the Puppetmaster (first movie) is the cooler one, but somehow, Kuze has his charms.

Oh and btw, now that I'm here, I never really understood who exactly that guy was (the old man) with whom Kuze talked before the last few episodes, before the immigrants vs government part. Who is that dude, to whom Kuze explained his goal (his talk of hierarchy and the virtual world as a kind of 'superstructure').

(or was it just some 'random' dude who popped out at the last few episodes, not that I would mind that)

It's nice to watch both GiGs after reading manga. They make much more sense. For example Major making somebody hit himself with his own hand is a running joke in manga, mostly performed on Batou when he does something stupid :P

Yeah she is completly different then in the movie, but I prefer her in SAC series, where she is nicely balanced between ice queen from movies and comic character from manga :)

Come to think about it... I'd say no. The story from the GiG got a lot of references from the manga, like places, people and events (the whole Klordane haker, Sagawa Inc and Nemuro Operation thing) but the plot is completly different. The Refugee case was not mentioned in manga, they were part of the world but haven't got a significant role.

And the Major making people hit themselves is badass.
Yeah the first time was so unexpected that made me rotfl. And I like how she summed this up "Well... it seems that ends my career in military".

The manga gets better and better while you read so keep going :)

Well, I thought it was excellent.

I wasn't particularly surprised at the tachikomas, they had been working on the repository for all the refugee memories before they played the satellite gambit, so they could easily have uploaded their own states before destruction (in fact the animation of their final sequence in the second gig sort of implied that's what they were doing). In any case, their physical forms, and presumably their nascent ghosts, were lost in the sacrifice.

No ending - gives me some hope for another season, maybe.

Of course there wasn't enough Motoko; she could have been in every scene and there wouldn't have been enough Motoko.

Yeah, been a while since i watched it, but I also remember him not being the original laughing man. In fact, although there was once an original, the 'stand alone complex' is, I think, something like there appearing copy cats and after a while, the original 'cat' just becomes irrelevant and kinda disappears. I do remember the concept 'stand alone complex' was explained, but can't remember which episode. I think the description went something like that, though.
So basically the 'name' was just used by Aoi, at least, thats what I also believe to be the case.

I really liked the last episode of the 1st Gig, the conversation between Aoi and Kusanagi. Damn, when my studies settle down, I need to watch the 1st Gig again. :nuts
