you can see that some part of the orihime and byakuya's face is disfigured.

the fighting part is not as good as the ichigo and urahara's flashback or ishida and the scientist freak.

and what's with the shadow on the neck and all that. it doesnt look very nice. earlier episodes didnt have it.

I'd agree that animation doesn;t seem to be as good as before in some places but I don;t really think its that much worse.

I've heard lots of good things about this ep, especially from those who;ve not read the manga so I look forward to a sub :)

Well you can't really expect for any single anime to have top notch animation throughout the whole series. Though I have to say I wish they did a better job. But it is not that horrible. Just not as good as earlier episodes. If the anime is coming to an end which I hope not. But if it is they would have at least made this fight a lot better.

nice episode again, I was glad they had some more actual sword fight style things in the little shyunpo fighting bit rather than the step back jump in and swing type that sort of dominated a large part of the non release fighting.

Ep 59 had some cool battles, plus Ichigo had an interesting Internal battle. Anime is following the same downward slide as seen in the last part of 57 and most all of 58.

Byakuya's revelation of Ichigo is key to the whole series, imho.

Overall, good episode. except for DB's crap.

I guess the piece of shit message inserted by DB messed it up. Any respect I might have had for them is now long gone.

Anyways why Ichigo was named the victor was because he broke Senbonzakura. So in technicallity it was a draw despite one barely had reiatsu left and the other did not have his Zankpaktou.

It did a great job where I would not mind waiting two weeks for the next episode. Pretty much all I was hoping for was this episode done good enough to rewatch. I'm satisfied.

Byakuya would have lost against the Hollow but Ichigo never intended to kill him thus a fitting ending and the realization that Ichigo wasn't an enemy of Byakuya.

two points to make:

The episode was awesome! I was kindof expecting that hollow mask to bust out at some point and give him even an extra boost of strength. It was pretty cool. The animation fit with the wildness of the hollow ichigo, so i didn' have any complaints.

As for DB's joke: well that joke should be offensive. Who the hell does DB think they are? I don't know any of them and they are coming off as extraordinarily insensitive and it's just not funny. I haven't been watching there dubs since the GNAA thing which is even more disgusting cause there's a freaking website about it. So let's see, they insult Blacks, jews and gays...smells like a nazi?
And believe me, I am NOT BLACK,JEWISH OR GAY, but it's just too offensive. I hope you guys will be turned off to DB dubs like I am and take others with you, I don't support that crap. [END RANT]

Hollow Ichigo animated was ALOT more insane then I expected. They did an amazing job with that part.

The final "Kaboom" was totally Black vs White just as the title suggested. Ichigo’s final charge at Byakuya looked like the coat of Zangetsu swirling around. And you're right on with the fact that it was opposite forms battling. With Byakuya, sticking to his word to have one last strike then walking away (or actually quick stepping), I don’t think Ichigo would’ve lasted another moment. This was not a lop-sided victory for Ichigo by along shot. It would also be wise to avoid having Byakuya pointing his finger at you too, lol.

I’m still puzzled how Ichigo received that last blow, but I guess you can chalk it up for Drama.

I understand from some other post that in this battle the manga offers a little more depth to the stance that Byakuya takes in reference to Rukia. Providing more “color” to the situation. If someone knows the approx manga number for the battle I would really appreciate it.

Ep 58 and 59 totally rocks (except the pathetic animation)

Central 46 (SS’s Area 51, aye?) opens a new can of worms for us anime types. Really look forward to that.

Oh come on, I'm part Jewish (Ashkenazi) and even I thought it was funny. Hell Fansubs no longer does subs, so you're stuck with 'em. GN was obviously a production done by blacks in the early nineties (looked like a film project), not blackface humor. Jeez, lighten up.

Actually, they do mention the Black Moon Fang, but it looked much much better in the anime, due to the excellent coloring scheme. I just thought it'd be plain black.

3 points:

1. Humor is humor. If you don't like it you don't like it but in the end its the joke not the comedian that matters. You want something really offensive? How about REAL human cruelty not a freaking joke. How about curb stomping in the inner cities, or the organized policy of military gang rape in africa? Ha-ha-ha-ha. Grow a sense of humor about things or the REAL crueltys and horrors of the world will core you like a pear.

2. Byakuya and Ichigo both screwed around in that fight, but Ichigo is undoubtably the stronger and more dangerous of the two, not even counting his hollow half. The direct hit from Seonbonsakura did extenisve damage, and was only really the result of ichigo trying to show off, slowing ichigo to a comparable speed later in the fight. Even with that he was fast enough to evade byakuya's perceptions and render him completely helpless. If both of them had rushed to full power and then tried to kill one another ASAP, byakuya would be enjoying a wonderful view of a clear blue sky while his life leaked out of what used to be his throat.

3. Awesome episode. I particularly enjoyed the psychotic laughter and sadistic humor of Hollow Ichigo. The voice was perfectly playful and cruel, and the movements were endlessly flamboyant and slightly unnatural highlighting the unnatural nature of the hollow within.

This episode was awesome, though I have to say, the ending to the Ichigo/Byakuya battle was somewhat anti-climactic. I dunno, I guess I just had my expectations way too high. I just thought the series built up the hype to the fight for so long, and when it finally came, it just didn't live up to it (though it certainly had its moments).

This is pathetic. Can't believe a lameass joke by a group of insensitive idiots is stealing the spotlight of a great episode.

If someone is offended by something, then that person has every right to voice their complain. People who go "joke is a joke" or "real life cruelty w.e crap" trying to convince the person otherwise are just stupid.

So yeah with that said. Hollow Ichigo was awesome. I'm a strict anime watcher and I was totally not expecting it :)

I just saw this episode.
The wing like thingies on byakuya's back were cool.
Ichigo is quite the schizo aint he.
He got 2 extra personalities wich sometimes take over control.
That bonebreaking thing also confused me.
Byakuya said ichigo was only human, but ichigo was in his spirit/shinigami state. WTF?

The anime messed up one of my fav parts of the fight a bit. It's such a small scene it didn't have any effect on how much I loved this episoode, but I still like the way it played out in the manga. Ichigo blasted Byakuya and it shows him runing around him and attacking while the blast is still heading towards him. Byakuya knew he couldn't stop them both at once, so he had this "Oh crap!" look on his face.

I also believe that that was the only Getsuga attack Hollow Ichigo did. There wasn't a single one Byakuya actually dodged. At least from what I recall.

what does he mean by that?...........if Ichigo is the second person, then who's the first one?

Think about it this way, Byakuya was so skilled he's never had to use that form, thats why no one else had ever seen it, there was never an opponent to push him that far. Do you honestly think he would save it for the possible thousands of years he's been alive, then just for no reason use it on Renji who was already down on the ground dying?

He said (atleast from what I remember in the manga) that he only shows it to people he intends to kill with his own hands, since he attacked Renji from a distance each time he couldn't have been referring to him.

A quick question about the end of the Ichigo/byakuya fight. As the two blades meet you see Byakuya's blade break into the petals, and he doesn't seem overly surprised or concerned. Further more, he not only walks away from the fight, but he uses a shunpo, whereas Ichigo can bearly move. Does this mean that Byakuya intentionally disengaged his bankai at the critical moment? I got the impression from the manga that byakuya's blade was destroyed and he was critically wounded. The anime however shows something different... Remember also that Byakuya told Renji that unintentional disengagement of bankai meant the user would soon die. Byakuya didn't look close to death at the end of the fight though.

awesome episode. So awesome i almost peed on my computer screen because i enjoyed the thrashing of byakuya.....jk. It was awesome tho. Now we have to see the fight between the old long beard guy and his 2 students. The old guy's reiatsu looks badass.
