Whatever Happened to the "Now Viewing This Thread" Feature?

I remember wheN the New versioN of vBulletiN was beiNg set up that there were a lot of temporary problems, and oNe of them was that the "Now ViewiNg This Thread" list at the bottom-left corNer of a thread weNt away. TheN, shortly, it came back. And Not too loNg after that it weNt away and it was Never seeN agaiN.

I really miss that feature. I thought it made it a lot more fun, beiNg iN aN active thread, to kNow who was there, who was watchiNg quietly, and to get aN idea of exactly how freNzied a thread was.

Was that feature takeN away intentionally? If so, why?

And if Not, if it just isN't a feature in the Newer software, is there aNy chaNce that this feature caN be brought back?

It slowed the forum.

Anytime anyone views a page, it runs a query over all the other users.

That's like a thousand querys over a thousands user every couple seconds.

When do u get a larger PM box? I am not talking about the senior member PM box but rather people like me. I just realize that my PM box can now contain 100 instead of 50 PMs. :laugh

What's up with Threads Views?

I'm talking about thingy on the right of the threads name.. There is "Replays" and "Views". But "Views" for some reason shows the same number as the replays just + 1.
Like that:
Replays: 27
Views: 28

I saw that older threads got normal amount of views.. Like hundreds, or even thousands, while their replays maybe even 9...

Whatever happened with "Views", and are they coming back?

Replies: how many replies the thread has
Views: how many times the thread has been viewed by members

The views don't update after every view, but in a few days or a week. That's how we save bandwidth, apparently. :huh

Apparantly, it's because of the high load on the servers.
But hey! Look at the bright side.

Martin seems to get rid of it and put it back whenever the hell he wants.
It may return eventually, but don't count on it. I believe Martin doesn't like the stress the additional query puts on the forum servers.
