Ok, i wanna learn. Hit me

You could start with the basic "hello", "my name is" and "i am", cuz thats the first thing you learn in every language :P

Which reminds me...i should post a list of swedish adjectives you can put after "jag är", otherwise the hrase is kinda useless....

Hello - "Hei" (casual), "Päivää" (more formal), "Moi" (casual)

My name is - "Minun nimeni on" or just "nimeni on"

I am - "minä olen" or just "olen"

Hows the scentance construction in finnish? do the words come in the same order as in swedish, or do you speak "backwards" like the japanese do? "Television i am watching", lol

Minä(I) katson(watch) televisiota(tv) = I watch TV.

So, it´s not backwards like that. Although you can answer to Q "what are you doing?" backwards. IE:

Mitä(what) olet tekemässä(are you doing)?

Telkkaria(television//slang word) kattelen(I´m watching//slang word).

But, I think that´s only in casual speech/slang.

I don´t know russian at all, but I think there isn´t much similarity between the two.

Finnish is Uralic and russia Indo-European. That´s all I can remember and I have no idea if that even matters...

Oh, thats not true. At least "perkele" is used sometimes by swedes becouse it sounds more powerful than our curse-words.

Id like to add that i think swedish has the largest inventory of curses of any language ive tryed

Moi! (means 'hello' in slang!)

yksi, kaksi, kolme (one, two, three)

En varsinaisesti ole ikinä pitänyt koko maasta...mutta joopa joo

please! you haveta teach me how to curse in finnish.
like shit, fuck, asshole etc.

M00se

Paska=shit

Persreikä=asshole (comes from 2 words Perse =ass Reikä=Hole)
Fuck = this one gets complex becous alot of finnish people use alot of words the get the same meaning as Fuck

example :Haista vittu = smell your pussy (well i use this one more like Fuck you then smell your pussy :P)

there are alot of swear words but the most common one you can use with a combination of any swear word is Vittu = pussy :)

you can say haista vittu (we leared this one already :P) vitun homo = pussy gay (or fucking gay) vittu is a magical word witch can be combined with many words :)

Perkele = Damnit (best choice of word for a teenager in finland combined with vittu it becomes a series of random nonsence and cursing :D)

example:haista vittu perkele saatana vittu vittu perkele ...etc :P this is what i hear from teenagers ^^

Saatana = Satan / the Devil / Evil . you can use this word with perkele so it becomes God damnit (altho this isnt the real word for god damnit but we will get to that in a minut) this word cant really be combined with many swear words to become a great insult mostly just vittu saatana or perkele :)

Jumalauta= combined of 2 words Jumala (god) Auta (help) this is the real word for god damnit altho this word has never truly bin ment to be a swear word but the times have changed and now the meaning of the word has changed aswell. The real word was more of a prayer to god , god help me = jumala auta minua.

Runkku / Runkkarit = Wanker ,Wankers. Once again another word to be combined with vittu :D if combined it becomes fucking wanker .

any more word you wanna know :D

how do the umlaots and other accents (as in the double dots and any other symbols) work in Finnish. My dad told me they aren't the same as German, which is just pretty much adds an e after the vowel.....

Oh and Finnish is the most isolated language in the world. I think Hungarian had some similarities and so did one other country and its completely different to all of the others....

Right and wrong. The language of the Sami* is supposedly related to finnish. However, the Sami dont have their own country, so people forget to count them.

*= The "natives" in the northern parts of Sweden, Norway and Finland. The swedes originate from Germany and Danmark, and came into the country from the south. The Sami originate from Russia and Finland, and came into the country from the north. Think of them as the scandinavian equivalent of indians

Sami is a general name for a group of the Uralic languages spoken in parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia, in Northern Europe. Very often Sami is erroneously referred as one language for all Sami people.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sami_languages

Finnish is a member of the Finno-Ugric branch of the Uralic language family (which also includes Hungarian)

Double dots and other symbols... we only have double dots on top of a and o.

Ä and Ö, they work just like you said, almost. Although they have their own pronouncation and stuff, I don´t really know this technical stuff :notrust

Lolololol

My name is Sami :P Don´t know how to talk it, though.
