I finished Eldest just recently and I'd like to know when the third book of the Inheritance Trilogy is coming out? Many things have to be resolves, such as; Eragon no longer has Zar'roc, because his brother took it from him. He's now unarmed.
His brother is Murtaugh, meaning that Eragon is the son of Morzan.
Eragon has to go to Helgrind with his cousin Roran to rescue Katrina.
Eragon still has unfinished business with Arya.:jk
And a whole LOT of other stuff I don't feel like naming right now.
So what's going on with Book 3? Is there any confirmed released date? I heard the third book might be called Empire.

I have no idea when the release date'll be. However, it shouldn't be *that* long a wait (unlike Harry Potter *coff*). I don't remember waiting that long for Eldest to be published. :amuse I don't like how we're made to wait between books for trilogies!!! :shakefist :P

i enjoy the inheritance trilogy even though its far from being an original story. i finished eldest soon after it was released. it was an enjoyable book. i think it set the story for the third book up nicely.

...Am I the only person out there not impressed with Paolini's stuff? I read Eragon to see what all the hype was about and...um....wow...great job, Paolini, you used cookie cutter characters and poor rhetoric. He's gonna be kicking himself in the ass for this later:laugh

I read Eragon and Eldest... the first one was childish, but solid. The second one lacked coherence in plot, and lacked dynamism. I'll prolly read the third one just cuz its a trilogy, but given the quality of the second book, I would doubt "Empire" could match "Eragon" in plot or quality.

Well, at least it won't be a wait like the new Harry Potter books. Those books are a few years, due to length and all.
I have been able to read Eldest. I bought it, the day it came out but I haven't had the time to read it. After basketball season, I might try and read it again. The spoilers made me want to read it and undercover the spoilers myself. :P

Heh, you weren't supposed to read the spoilers until after you've finished reading. Oh well, your choice I guess.XD

No, a lot of people are very underwhelmed by the Inheritance Trilogy, even some of the fans who've finished Eldest. I get where they're coming from, but I still really like the series nonetheless. It's a fun, engaging read for me. As soon as I start reading it, I can't put it away until my head starts to hurt from looking at tiny letters for such a long time. And it helps that Murtagh is such a hawt character. They even got someone hot to play him in the movie. Ah, Garrett Hedlund...

Ha, I would've totally done the same thing. I absolutely LOVE spoilers. The first thing I did when I bought the book was read the last few chapters. But you see, I'm not spoiling myself. I'm just reading ahead to see how everything eventually leads to it. XD

After reading the above essay and the Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eragon#Critical_reaction), I was pretty astounded: I had no idea about the controversy. I thought he was being heralded as a prodigy from what I saw on TV and read about him. But here he is being accused of stealing plots from Star Wars and the like. Even the languages and names were just copied. I was very surprised by all of this.

i actually didn't do my homework because i was so engrossed in it and i just wanted to read it. it ook my 2 days with hardly any sleep. phew.
but i loved them!
i think we all know that the elfish carpenter Rhunon willl make Eragon a new sword this time matching Saphira's scales or find it in the Menoa tree or something like what Solembum told him.
I always though the Inheritance seems like LOTR a bit..

If you really really want to know when it's coming out, then you can sign up at Christopher Paolini's site for the latest news by e-mail. He said that he started the third book awhile ago. But there isn't any name for it yet.

I loved the first book, I got it the first day and finished it in a few days. Than I bought the second book, I read a few pages and couldn't get into it. My friend spoiled/told me what else happened. He told me that the book finds it ways to screw itself up. I"ll pick it up after I finish Dune.
I lost even more respect with the movie coming out, I don't think it should've become a movie since its going to be long and might miss out on some good parts. Its kinda like the Da Vinci Code becoming a movie.

^Second was good, just the begining wasn't great but as it went on it got better.
Read Eragon to see what all the hub-bub was about. I was instantly displeased because I saw that he stole quite a few devices and even whole sentences from an author named David Eddings. There are very cliche aspects to the books, and it is gets quite confusing in the second one. Also, the name of the second novel does not make sense, because
His brother is the elder sibling. Not eldest. Unless there is a third sibling. In either case, very uncareful plotting on Paolini's part.
