I read the manga and I was wondering the same thing. The emblem that he was wearing on his mantle looked like something a vice captain would wear. Does anybody know the significance of Ichigo's emblem?

Looking at it closely, the emblem is the same as on the shield thing Ukitake and Kyouraku used to destroy the Kikou. That in turn is the symbol of the Shihouin family, Yoruichi's clan...

Aand that's the significance...

Not only is it from Yoruichi, who seems to have a plethora of handy items lying around, but it also may be like Ukitake's shield, and is a weapon designed specifically to take on the Kikou. That would help explain why Ichigo was able to take on a beast with the power of 1000 zanpakutou...

yes, seeing as it ha the shihouin crest on it it could have similar powers to the thing ukitake and kyouraku were using. But why should he wear after Kyoukoku is destroyed?

The mantle was simply given by Yoruichi to Ichigo so that he could fly and that symbol is the Shihouin crest (Yoruichi's family) like the one on the shield-thing used by Ukitake.

Perhaps ichigo got new clothes like that as well?

It's only stated like once, but it was confirmed (by Soi Fong, I believe) that that is the Shihouin crest (on both the cloak and the shield doohicky), and that she's a fricken' traitor to be handing out House Relics like that, for such use.

Being as the cloak belongs to Yoruichi, would kind of have to give it back after this battle. I kind of wonder if the Shihouin family were the ones to create the Kyoukoku and thus had a backup plan for destroying it... otherwise just having made it makes her entire family kind of... traitor like. Ne?

My theory is that the symbol, as it is the same as the one on the sheild can nulify the power of the kikou, I hope so anyway, I know Ichigo and Zangetsu are uber strong but come on, stronger than a 1,000,000 others? Thats a bit ridiculous!

There is one way it is possible for Ichigo to do it. In the bleach universe, spirit density is a pretty important thing. Even if an object had the power of 100 zanpakutous, with a high enough density it could block even 1 million zanpakutous.

I was confused for a moment from watching Ichigo block the Kyoukoku... I thought that thing is equivalent to 100 million zanpakuto. There's no way he would've done that alone unless he's stronger than 100 million zanpakuto.

After reading this, it makes some sense. It looks like the Shihouin crest may have protected him. It can also be a fashion statement like DBZ at the same time. DBZ change the symbol on the uniform to honor their sensei and tell people who they have trained under. Since Ichigo trained under Yoruichi, he wears the crest.

Just wanted to say new cloak Ichigo wears in anime looks damn good. Hooray for cloaks :smile-big It even got a badass big collar :)

Oh yeah also I wanted to ask, that talisman-seal-whatever thingy Ichigo wears, I saw some other captains and lieutenants wear it. I thought it shows your position/rank or squad maybe. So what does the one Ichigo has (on the rope) say?

Correct. It was better explained in Episode 56. I believe it also serves as a protection as well, like an armor. That could explain why Ichigo was able to survive the phoenix thingy.

Okay just so everyone could understand.
- The mantle is a Shihouins Family treasure.
- The crest is proof that it belongs to the family.
- The cloak made Ichigo the ability to reach the Soukyoku Grounds in time to stop the execution.
- The correct translation is 1 million Zankpaktou.
- The cloak does not offer him protection at all.
- As you could tell this was also visible from the manga the Soukyoku connected with Zangetsu. And most likely just like Rukia mentioned he probably may or may not survive another direct attack from Soukyoku. Gotta love the possibility of the *what if* here.
