It's difficult, but i'll try...

"Sovet" is like a group of people who are representative from their social class, or somthn... Like "sovet" of workers and peasants, "sovet" of soldiers".
All authority in USSR belonged to such groups of peoples.
And they ruled empire together :evil

So you have "Soviet Union". Basicly Union of groups of people, that are representative from their social class..

P.S. Well.. I don't sure about social classes.. i mean i don't know if you really can call them social classes, but i guess you catched the main idea..

Im pretty well aquainted with the communist philosophy (some claim i AM a communist), so i can see why they picked that name

I was born in 1985, means i lived like 6 first years of my life in USSR..

And really.. Comunism isn't as bad as some people describing it.
It's like idea of ideal country, where all people are even. Everyone got a job and food. It's only utopia of corse.. :amuse

Well.. There is always such thing as "Human factor". Because of that, i doubt communism will work anywhere for too long without some extra measures..
In USSR people always was in iron hands.. Authorities always knew what is needed and what is done. People were living and that's was fine... But then came Gorbachev with his reforms and it's all started.. Some "side powers" (i mean peoples in Russia who wanted power, or money or for whatever reason) feeled the weakness and torn USSR apart..

Humans don't know what they want..

En explaination i heard (donno if its true or not) is that Russia wasent "ready"

Marx divided history in the periods of: Communism (primitive societys)-dictatorship-capitalism-socialism-communism again

Since Russia skipped one step (went directly from dictatorship to socialism), some say that people dident know how "evil" capitalism was.

Well.. I sure they know now.. Seing what happened to Russia after fall of USSR. Someone tryed to keep on living like he was, but some people literraly took country apart.. Uhh.. It's just impossible to describe how it all went..
It's scary to live in Russia now..

But i doubt that USSR will come back anytime soon.. Situation now is much more complicated.. Back in 191x whole world was in the 1st world war, so nobody gave a damn about what was happening in Russia. And so was in 194x when Russia "took over" some countries.. Now nobody will give such a chanse to Russia..

But.. History has a bad habit of repeating itself, so...

Is the word supposed to be pronounced "sovet", and in that case, why would it be spelled "sovjet" in swedish?

By the way, i know this russian girl (but she cant speak the language any good), and shes a MODERATE! Thats the swedish capitalist-party, so it feels like a contradiction. But i guess you shouldent judge people by what country their from

Well it's probably "sovjet". It's just written "совет" in russian. So i'm just replacing each letter with latin letter. Like this:

С О В Е Т
S O V E T

I mean in that context you would say "potomu chto" or "iz za tago chto." "Ibo" is old/religious russian like: "Prosi proshenee greshnik, ibo ti budesh goret v adu" or something like that. I am Russian and I lived there most of my life, so I am not trying to bash you, just explaining that you wouldnt use it in everyday speech. Altough people will understand you if you do, its ackward.

First of all: I checked the stuff on cyrillic, and the sounds are the same as in swedish! Shure the russians write em with different letters (i belive Cyrillic was intentionalle made confusing), but swedes also pronounce A as "ah" and not "Eiy". Wee for europe!

Second of all: when spoken slowly russian is the ultimate creepy language ^^. There was this swedish show a while ago where in one episode they encountered a GRU agent, and he ranks with "most disturbing voices of all time"

I might get to learn russian in a few years, cuz sweden has compolsory military service for males. And i found out that you can apply to be a interputor, where you get to learn russian and how to neogtiate and stuff. Supposedly its becouse Russia is considered the greatest threat right now (we´re almoust neighbors, they got nukes, and we´ve had lots of conflicts througout history).

Its not gonna be a walk in the park thoug. Your in the army for about one year, and in that time your supposed the become near-fluent! So the studying rivals the physical training of the infantry :P

Coolest part is that interputors count as being Military Intelligence. Better start practicing my Men In Black routine...

AARRGGGHHH!!!

could anyone translate those bold lines into english
Воскресеин, боже, боже правых!
И их молению бнемли:
Приди, суди, карай лукавых

I more or less know what that means (sth like " and listen to their prayers") but I would prefer to know for sure, what бнемли means.

I'll post this request also in translation section

A little late, but..

I'm pretty certain it must be "внемли" and not "бнемли". I of course can mistaken, and "бнемли" is an old variation of the word, but anyway.

"Внять" means "to listen attentively". So you'r right..
The sentence means "And attentively listened to their prayers"

Âîñêðåñíè, áîæå, áîæå ïðàâûõ!
È èõ ìîëåíèþ âíåìëè:
Ïðèäè, ñóäè, êàðàé ëóêàâûõ.
I'm from Russia. English I know not so well, but nevertheless here approximate translation:

Revive, my God, my God right!
And to their prayer heed:
Come, judge, punish crafty.

Yeah... A lot of special effects, but is kinda dull :(
Russian films become more and more Hollywood like. I miss the good old soviet comedy movies :(
